Whenever there is filler, Fans bitch and moan and now Toei fears filler like the plague…

Filler is a necessary Evil people. One Piece sorely needs more of it.

Not to be stupid or sacrastic or anything, This is a genuine question. Do the ratings really drop that much, and stay dropped for weeks after the cannon stuff starts back up? There's been statistics listed somewhere? I've heard people say both–that filler decreases viewership, and conversly that it does not and that's a myth. Which is it, or is it somewhere in between? Because if viewership doesn't drop, thus threatening Toei's advertising revenue, why on earth would they be so afraid?

It's largely a myth. The ratings may go down by a tiny bit, but it's still pretty consistent. The only time the ratings have taken such a huge plunge that I know of is right after the (relatively) recent time slot change.

So in the end it's might be something other than fan backlash that influences Toei's choices re: filler (unless the business of TV shows in Japan is drastically different than elsewhere.) Interesting. Although we do have things like DBKai and FMA Brotherhood to back up the premise that they do listen to fan complaints.

I guess its a mystery then. LOL–Luffy would like that

We usually get new episode titles around the 7th of the month, so next titles will probably be posted around July 7th.

I don't know, as I recall a lot happens in each chapter. As long as it remains consistent and well done, I won't complain.

Yeah, Deguchi and Yokoyama. But the two first chapters of the arc are mostly talking, so it's good to have them now.

! The newest manga chapter confirmed that the Island Usopp is on really is a living flower and Chopper really has left the island on the back of a giant bird. Just like the Anime episode revealed first.

I wana see how the rest of this pans out.

I wonder what Oda will do with the controversial "Mr. Frank".

459 = [550] Kenji Yokoyama [C]
460 = [551] Toshio Deguchi [C]
461 = [552] Yukiko Nakatani [A] She have solid art, hence the A. Although the animation can be either very good, or average.

Did some digging through the "Study of Animation" thread, and here are some examples:

If you think about when the action really begins, it's in late 551, 550 is almost entirely exposition, so it's good we're not getting someone like Tate for that. I'm a bit disappointed that they're bringing out some mediocre guys for these early ones, but hopefully it bodes well for the later ones.

So I watched an episode of One Piece called One Piece episode 0 that took place about 30 years before Luffy's adventure, had Garp as a young man, Ace as a baby, was what seemed like the first episode of a Gold Roger vs. Shiki arc, but I never heard of this airing or anything. Anyone know details about a second part/continuation?
