We haven't seen him attack a DF user yet (minus Perona), so here's an idea: What if he can rebound the effects of fruits? IF he reflects Perona's ghosts, what if she became a ghost herself?
Chapter 484 "Puni" Discussions

-
Shouldn't the explanation be much more simple, like some sort of pun on "paw" in Japanese that is similar to "reflect" or something?
Honestly I don't care about his Devil Fruit as much as whether he's balding…. :D :D

Alright, I don't believe in the teleportation anymore. My theory of kuma's movement (if it hasn't been said already) is that he has those pads on his feet as well. If he can supposedly push air with his hands at near light speeds, then doing it with his feet would indeed give the impression of his teleporting.
Sounds like a solid theory to me. There´s no reason why he shouldn´t have pawns on his feet.

But there is still the wierd issue of asking the question
becuase Moria didn't…

But there is still the wierd issue of asking the question
becuase Moria didn't…
huhMaybe Kuma is a genius physicist and can calculate the exact force and direction needed to launch someone anywhere in the world, so when they answer his question, he flings them there.
-
Maybe Moria already knew that the silly question had nothing to do at all with Kuma's powers and just went straight to "Do you want to fight me?" so Kuma would stop fooling around.
Anyways, My theory on Kuma's movement is that he can use the pressure guns like the guy from Hitman Reborn can use his flames to fly around.
-
…for all we know, this advantage depends only on his devil fruit ability.
In terms of raw strength and speed, Zoro (or probably Sanji, and of course Luffy as well) might be even more powerful than Kuma.
(...)
However, this doesn't explain why Sanji's attack backfiredIt just looks like Kuma is a bad ass mofo of the level that blocks Sanji's kick with his face. So the SHs raw strength probably isn't enough to even put a dent in Kuma.
-
I haven't read the translations yet, so I think this chapter is plain out crazy. I like the design of Bear's claw, even if it's nothing special. And the dome like paw at the end is great. Can't wait to see this animated.
I'm starting to get over the fact that this fight is one too many for this arc.
-
Yeah! Nice IDEA!!!!! Seriously!
AIR is an elemental! Zoro Knows how to cut through rock (steel), now he will learn how to cut wind!
Maybe Zoro is the anti element guy?
Electricity is not an element, so Enel doesn't count.
Maybe its not quite the point…
I think it could be that he learns to speed his fighting up!
He has to fight agains high speed air and he has to beat it...
So Mihawk said that he should speed up his fighting tecniques...
so thats his chance! -
If TB really is collapsing ,then it's probably going to end up with Sh getting saved.
Although i was hoping the SH to go down while showing some cool skills. Im still not satisfied :P I was more hoping for some Demon Ki, and Sanji showing us another powerup. One side of me likes to see them get owned, so they can prepare some more for the new world, the other side of me wants to see Kuma get beaten.
Having to wait so long for a new chapter sure is a pain.

so thats his chance!Im hoping Zoro stay this way, and focus on being strong instead of fast.
And him being able to see more through the opponents moves, to keep him more unique compared to mihawk.
I think, that if Brooke really joins, he'll probably be the one to learn how to move incredible fast besides gear 2nd Luffy.
Alot people seem to think that zoro will learn to cut the elements to, but to beat Mihawk technicly he doesnt need to. -
Can't wait to see this animated.
I hope that Kuma gets a cool original theme
-
Huh?He either will be ORANGE like ODA intended or BROWN like TOEI botched it.

I think he meant theme as in music theme.
-
I was more hoping for Sanji showing us another powerup.
Seriously? We just saw his big powerup and you already want another one?
Maybe BOTH legs on fire, but anything really new would be crazy
We had luffy combine gears 2 and 3
and sanji do diamble jamble againBut I would also want to see more asura or some attack of similar design

If he can supposedly push air with his hands at near light speeds, then doing it with his feet would indeed give the impression of his teleporting. As for what he did to perona, haven't thought of a reasonable explanation. And i am completely against the thought that his bible has a devil fruit, it just sounds dumb to me
I was wondering about that possibility too, but I don't think it computes.
For one thing, the paw attack seems to require bare paws. Every time that Kuma has used his ability to attack or defend, he takes his gloves off first. However, when kuma teleports, his gloves and shoes stay on and his body does remains in the exact same rigid posture throughout.
The only explanation for this that I can think of is that the teleportation ability is unrelated to the paws. So, the only alternative is that people were right the think that the Bible has the teleport fruit, not Kuma. This is also supported by the manner in which kuma writes in the Bible before teleporting Perona off somewhere. He then uses the paw power to deflect her exploding ghost attack.
-
But I would also want to see more asura or some attack of similar design
Asura is not a damn attack! You make babies cry when you say that.
It's an illusion technique. Not a powerup, not an attack. It can be combined with an attack, but in itself, it's not an attack. It's just Zoro moving his swords so fast he projects the aura of having 9 swords.
-
But I would also want to see more asura or some attack of similar design
That would be awesome! Kuma has nothing on Zoro and his nine swords. He could deflect two or three at best. Asura is the strongest of the SH's powerups and imo it's by far the coolest attack in the whole manga.
-
Maybe Kuma's teleportation is actually an illusion that he produces by manipulating the air pressure around him somehow altering the flow of the light so the light goes around him, making him unseable to people while he simply runs to another place…...........................farfetched, yeah, but so is a bible with DF powers and movement at the speed of light.....
-
If only Luffy was arlight, then he would have pierced trough Kuma's defense with the Giganto Jet Shell…

wha a mess i wonder how the hell strawhat will escape bomb at that size. I wonder wha will happen to zoro's pride since sanji and usopp interfere with his fight. And he specifically told everybody not to interfere. Who the hell ever thought sanji will be the first person to help zoro.

I'm pretty sure in the context of shonen manga people use attack and technique interchangeably

I never thought about his pride and after reading the translation I noticed he didn't seem happy with sanji butting in. I wonder if his pride will trigger some more of that ki of his.
I also noticed he has broken bones, I thought that was pretty impressive going toe to toe with kuma while being so damaged .

Or maybe the gloves just dampen the effect and taking them off gives him full power, or he could have soleless shoes, lol, but that's just if i was driving my theory down your throat with every little thing i could think of, which i'm not. It was just a thought. But i dont remember him writing in the bible, i thought he was just mumbling one of the little verses in there before he sent perona on her merry way. For all we know he could be using some form of rokushiki though. Him moving fast COULD be soru, maybe not. And then when sanji kicked him in the head it could have been tekkai. i dont know, all we can do is guess
-

Zoro's always got broken bones…....I mean always, he's like totally messed up after every arc, not even Luffy gets messed up so much, his body is totally irresponsible, if I were his body I'd knock him into a shock coma chapters ago

FH is waiting for a raw to come out, we have it all typeset on the Chinese scan. But we can't release without permission from the Chinese scanlators, so we need a raw. Once we get a raw, they'll only need to clean it.

@Fire Fist:

Eh, I don't think we know for sure exactly what the heck it is yet. Kaku didn't understand it, and Zoro never explained it. You might be right and it might just be an illussion, or you might be wrong.
As for myself, I believe it was something akin to what Shanks did on Whitebeards boat. In addition to knocking people out, he actually damaged the boat, without touching it or doing any visible attack, using nothing but his "spirit." I think Zoro was essentially doing the same type of thing, but in a rather different form. In this case, his "spirit" was heavily concentrated in a small area for a little bit of time, for a specific purpose, and was actually visible, having the form of the extra arms/heads. Just my theory though.

Sanji and the other one doing the right thing to interfere. This is not a fight about pride. It is a fight with the life of all the people on the Island on the line. therefore, they need to defeat Kuma with everything they have

Oda actualy said somewhere that Asura definitely IS an ilusion.Yellow databook if im not mistaken.

We know exactly what it is. Oda explained it in the Yellow Data Book. It's an illusion/projection of Aura.

Kuma challenge Zoro and he accept without complaint. Zoro told them not to interfere even if he "DIE". Zoro fighting for his pride and honour. He a swordman and he have such a strong pride and honour. If zoro is fighting mihawk and he is about to die n luffy suddenly interfere, you destroy his dream, promise, and his pride.

Hah! Glad to see I'm not the only one who found ackward how Robin didn't say anything when she was all "Luffy! Luffy!" back at Ennies Lobby.

I'm sorry to have pissed you off so much with my word choice. But indeed Asura is an attack. Whether or not it uses an illusion to face it, my word choice was 100% fine.
I understand your point, but never in my context did I say, "I hope Zoro attacks with Asura, because nine swords could never be countered!" I said I hoped he used it again. I had been confused by Asura, then I learned it was an illusion. I got it. I still get it.
K?
I was still right.
You were also right
EVERYONE WINS ON THE INTERNET!
of course, everyone also loses too
-
Well, if I remember correctly, Ashura's illusion actually increases "Zoro's killing intent" wich somehow helps him to intidimate even further his opponents, so yeah, it's pretty much an atack, even tough not of the physical type.
-
Wow, I don't know how I missed it before, but what is up with Nami's lips in that picture? :wassat: More than just that, her entire face looks weird.

lol, I feel dumb now. Still, her face looks kind of odd there, and in the black and white it can be hard to tell.
-
Even if Asura is an illusion, Zoro still had to use it to cut through Kaku's strongest Rankyaku. Maybe he just projects so much spirit, he warps space and time.
Edit: no, it wasn't his spirit warping space and time, Zoro's sword technique blasted away the Rankyaku. But his Asura illusion represents a higher level of badass.
-

It's only logical that the other Sh intervene, together they stand a better chance against Kuma. And this concerns alot more then pride alone. Everyone will get killed, and besides all the said denied Kuma's refusal. That makes all of them more involved.
I hope we'll get the see some more emotional development within Zoro next chapter, realizing the importance of his nakama.Still i wonder why Robin didnt say anything.. maybe she realizes the Sh dont stand a chance against Kuma?
-
So when Zoro guessed that Kuma's ability was to reflect anything, Kuma stated the name of his ability. I first got the impression that it was once again a reply of "yeah, you guessed it right… As such, it's called yada yada yada no mi!", but then it turns out he's got some bizarre abilities after all.
So what if the whole teleporting-thing is also revolved around reflecting? He may have asked the question "where would you like to go" just for the sake of knowing what the exact opposite is? ;o
Oh! Oh! Oh!
I can't see Brook in the "NEVAR"-picture!
-20 SH-Joinage Points! From one matter to the fiftysixth, I'd say Absalom and Hogback may still turn good-guyish. Hogback pretty much said that there's nothing for them in TB at this rate, and without Moria's ability, he can't have his Cindry's and whatnot lick floors for him anymore. So if he says that he doesn't want to go away as a loser, I for one am expecting them- ...Or just Absalom (since Hogback seems a bit, uh, useless) to pull off something cunning. Being able to make people vanish deserves more panel-time! That, and an amazing save is necessary. Perhaps the SHs will thank Abs first, and then kick him outta their ship the next moment, sort of like that monkey-dude back at Jaya.

Thanks to Elric, Khamolen and Aohige for the chapter via PM!!!!
Wow! Lots to chew on. Wasn't left as excited by the ending as I thought I would be but it was okay. Now the wait begins….January 21st......
