Will you buy FUNi's Movie 8 DVD?

Alright kids, movie 8 is coming out on DVD soon. I think that it may be used as a test subject and depending on sales could influence how much is spent on the series DVDs (extra content, packaging, etc).

Be honest, and then POST what you selected and why. I only want to see one post per person that says what they selected and why. I don't want to see more because it will undoubtedly be retarded criticism on how someone else spends their money. That shouldn't happen because there is no wrong answer. So no "You cheap ass posts." Those are unneeded.

If someone else is going to buy it for you as a gift for a birthday, select yes. Don't try to be funny or some shit.

Hopefully someone from FUNi will see this so they know where SOME of the fans heads are at. That is actually the main purpose of the poll. I think this would peak their interest. Say lack of sales are because people want more or they don't like the movie, it would help to show that rather than just assume that sales for this reflect OP as a whole.

HD-DVD is not an option at the moment because currently FUNimation is only Blu-ray.

If you are from another country, obviously the answer may be no. So don't participate because this is for those that can buy it.

For me personally, I will be waiting for Blu-ray. I wasn't too fond of the movie, but I want to support FUNi's One Piece. I do not feel like buying it more than once. It is a newer movie and as FUNi gets more into HD, we will probably see a Blu-ray release, or at least I am hoping. Since it is new, I personally feel like there is no reason it shouldn't be. But it also depends how anime is doing on the Blu-ray market.

I did enjoy the dub a lot more. It was just this movie was rushed, and for someone who knows how it should flow, the pace was a turn-off.

Yes, I will be buying it. I completely support FUNi and will be happy to spend money on the DVD. It will be money well spent. It's mainly for the voices and everything, but also for their performance of it. I'm positive they will do a great job though. I'm so sad I couldn't go to NY to see the premiere. XD

First of all, I didn't enjoy this movie at all. Secondly, I question if I would even be able to find this here if I looked, because One Piece is more or less dead in Canada (it not beign on TV is a big blow). Thirdly, I'll probably rent it if I can instead.

Yes I will get it. I didn't like the movie, but I have other reasons for getting it.

1. I'm a One Piece fan.
2. I want to support FUNi's DVD releases of One Piece.
3. I don't own the movie already.
4. It will be the first uncut One Piece DVD.

Btw, Mumbo, you guys in Canada get the FUNi dub of the series later next year.

Most definitely. Movie 8 may not be the best One Piece movie ever, but it's the first FUNimation One Piece merchandise released in America, and I really want to partake in that. I've never bought anything One Piece in America excluding the relatively cheap and horrendously translated Viz Manga, so I want to at least lighten my guilt by contributing money to the series, and especially FUNimation.

In addition, I really want to hear screaming Colleen Clinkerbeard that Kirbopher told us about, and I also want to hear Bon Clay, "Zoro", and most of all Vivi.

Yes. Like Zulen, the manga was the only One piece materiel I bought for America, and there was also the first 4kids DVD (I was a brat and I liked it because i didn't know better) but i burned it seriously. And plus UNCUT FTW

Yes, they could have done more with it, but it was better then all of the other One Piece movies.

But those lack the re-watchable value that Movie 8 has.

Yes, I will. Cause I'm a fan of One Piece, been a fan of FUNimation, love them for saving it, and furtherly love them for giving One Piece a great dub. I've never seen movie 8 so this will be new to me, I'll buy anything One Piece FUNi brings out. (But use common sense, I wont by a different version of the same thing or something, I don't own HD or Blu-ray or shit like that, so there's no point.)

I'm expecting you to get us tons of merchandise too, FUNi. Posters, toys, the whole shebang like you did with Dragonball Z.

I voted the first option, I'll buy the DVD without a doubt, for supporting funimation for the good job they're doing with the series and well, having most of the original (and good) OP merchandise I can afford, I will eventually buy the Blu-ray release probably when I can afford it, because I'm really in no rush to buy a blu-ray player, or a ps3, or an HDTV system right now.

Yes and it's pretty much covered by other people why. Even though I know Movie 8 ain't that great, I want to see it for:

-The new dub, which has been amazing so far
-It's the first OP Dub DVD to make it out here.
-I want to support Funimation and to encourage them to bring out more of the (better) movies.
-I want to finally be able to watch One Piece on my 30" Widescreen TV with 6.1 Sound setup, something, even with video conversion and DVD burning, I wasn't able to do with fansubs.

Am I buying it? Of course! I haven't seen a fansub of Movie 8, and I don't plan to. The first time I'll watch it is on DVD. Even though this is an abridged version of the Alabasta arc, I'm all for supporting Funimation and seeing how it would've been done if they had One Piece from the start. Besides, I've heard some excellent feedback from the screening so I don't wanna miss out on it.

Yeah, I plan on buying the movie on DVD. And if it's ever released on Blu-Ray later this year when I have a PS3 or something, then I'll buy it again. I also happened to like the movie, despite it being so rushed through that the story hardly even made sense. I really liked the art syle, and how certain scenes were readapted in the film. I thought the music was great, and I can't decide which was better, the readaption of Vivi's farewell in the movie or in the series' where "We Are" kicked in.

And seeing all of that with FUNimations English voice cast will be all the better. I can't wait to hear Luffy's voice in the Gum Gum Storm scene. I hope it's acted very well. That was also one of the highlights of the Japanese movie, which was almost equivalent to the series' version. I can't help but enjoy watching those remix videos with the series' music played over the movie scene. :happy:

Hearing Vivi and Bon Clay's voices is also a must, we'll also get to hear Pell's voice as soon as the movie kicks in. Not to mention we'll get a little sneak peak of what's later to come in Enies Lobby with Nico Robins flash back of Saul, etc.

I also really want to see this in select theatres though. I hope it's somewhere at least remotley close to where I live. I'd love to see Arabasta in a cinematic like environment, and with Luffy's storm being played on such a huge screen. :silly:
