Whoa, I was just at ANN and saw this too.
I don't even know what to say.
-
Is this the special manga hair gel?
Cus if it is…everyone is talkin about it.
I first heard of it on the Something Awful forums. It is.
-
lol it's fun. their description of manga is quite accurate. of course they emphasize some stupid plots but, well, why not? they switched shojo and shonen but that's not THAT important.
but i think i'll NEVER buy it
if somebody try it, please post some pics
-
Where's luffy hairstyle??
-
Accurate?
"In a world where everything is made up of bright colours and bubbles, and where people get together dressed up as their favorite manga characters….where the world's most technically advanced robots into man's best friend, the dog...where even tiny street signs are designed with the most loving care and attention..."
If that's accurate, I'm staying the hell outta Japan.
And then there's that page talking about the importance of a manga character's hair, which hurts my brain.
-
interesting, hard mould gel? doubt anyone cept the jap people and seriously cosplayers will use it.might have some side effects

**sorry, i was talking about the part where they explain what is manga (hokusai and all) and the quick description about shojo and shonen. but you know, i find it accurate coz in france most people think that manga are just violence and sex, so even if the loreal definition "lol, what a strange expression for manga" sucks, it's still better than how people near me talk about manga.
and of course every part about the hairs suck (even if i'm not sure they're totally wrong)
-
Groovy!! I seemed to like all the styles, especially no. 5 with the punk style (just the look of it cause it wouldn't suit me). It'd probably come the most useful for cosplay.
I'd buy the product just for the look of it.
I remember a student in the hall way pointed out that she liked the manga styled characters hair. I guess hair is important too (partly but not everything of course ^^; ).
-
when i read this title, i thought you were talking about samurai champloo.
god, i fucking hate whoever came up with this tripe. im glad i have little to no hair….
-
Wow… Is there no end to the crap that people will try to market? Apparently not. And yeah I think this stuff is no different from your old style hair wax that is impossible to wash out. I feel bad for anyone stupid enough to use this.
-
xD This is gonna be such a good shampoo (??) for cosplayers!
I was reading the manga right to left… and didn't realize until I read the last cell that it's supposed to be left to right
-
Off topic for a second.
XMAN! Glad to see ya here.

**Yeah I did the same thing for like the first two pages until I realized it made more sense being read the other way. They did get shonen and shoujo backwards though so it's no big surprise they did their manga wrong as well
-
Oh my…. the things they think up nowadays ^_^;; Doesn't it feel to you like they're making fun of "manga" a bit....??
-
ANOTHER reason for me to wear hats  .

Yeah, you kinda get the feeling that some people really look down on manga readers…
-
IS NOTHING SACRED?
For the sake of the word count limit:
I love the fact that manufacturers think that everyone will want to go and get gravity defying hairstyles, because manga and anime is "in".I used to like the anime style, but since everyone and everything is using it, I'm getting sick of it.
-
But it's SO COOOOOL AND SO KAWAII…!
God, this site is so awful. Anyone notice the MANGA RUL'Z (ugh) page is designed off of DBZ?
I feel ashamed of reading manga now.
I think few people realize how "cool looking" things in anime/manga look INCREDIBLY RETARDED in real life.
-
There's nothing wrong with Dragonball Z really. I mean…no Dragonball Z=No One Piece. Oda was inspired by Toriyama after all, and I'm presuming we all like One Piece due to this board being on the biggest One Piece english resource site.
But yes. Friends don't let friends buy crap. Remember that.
-
That's true.
I think that at the next cosplay convention,a LOT of people will be using this gel…. -
I never said anything was wrong with DBZ, it's just that DBZ is the "cliche" series that everyone judges manga/anime by. Everytime I see a parody of anime somewhere they have giant hair, spend an hour powering up and scream a lot.
-
Ah, that is well observed. Well…it's always either based on Dragonball Z or Sailor Moon anyway.
-
…
What the hell? This is absolute absurdity. I took a glancing look at that site and got the hell out. I REALLY, REALLY think we're just TRYING to be stupid now.
-
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! People are fucking idiots! The only situation I can see this working is for cosplayers but if anyone would like to try and pull off some of those styles, go ahead and see how fast you're chased ut of town w/ pitchforks and torches.
-
if that Wax or Gel is really hard and good ,that can keep my hair straight up easy ,im gonna buy it and use ,so my hair could be Cool
-
WOW, now I can have hair just like Goku's!!!
Seriously though, I'm speechless.
-
le sigh To me, this is a lot like the Hot Topic craze. It used to be something unique, to wear clothes in the "gothic" or "punk" (quotations used because of the connotations behind the words can change) style, but then it started to become trendy, and teenagers all over the country began to dress like that. I still wear my trenchcoat and my corsets because I love them to death, but you see them all over now.
It seems to be the same thing with this hair stuff. Most of those styles seem kind of ridiculous, but I do know people who spike their hair and make it funky (key word, funky. Not retarded.) on a regular basis. Now it's probably going to become trendy to do it. Ugh, but what can you do.
For cosplayers, this kind of stuff could be VERY good. VERY GOOD. But to be honest, there's already good products out there already. Unless this is different, it's just a new way to make money that seems kind of ridiculous to me, but hey…whatever they think will sell. It's also probably mega expensive because it's OMGMANGA! u.u*

Don't forget the "all the kids are into this Pooky-man stuff nowadays! I just dunno whut the heck they're talking about!" parodies, which are even lamer…
-
… Wow. O_o
