These people, Hilary Clinton, obama, Mcain, blablabhalbhalbhalbhl i loathe poltics, it's always hilary this obama that.. it's so infrutating but enough and about that. i think that a Majority (not all of them) of politicans are corrupt and that they only care about the money.
But what do i know?
So what do you think?
Do you think our Polticians are corrupted?
-
-
I think that politics in general is corrupt. That said, It can be more corrupt.
And now I leave you with Remy.

so funny but so true ^_^

If only Steven Colbert made it farther than he did

The thing is, politics has transformed from "govern the people" to "get reelected." Take any decent American government class and you'll see that the average Congressman's job is 90% getting campaign funds and 10% whatever the hell legislators do nowadays. Many presidents don't communicate with their Cabinet or even their Vice Presidents and are instead "advised" by the White House staff, who are primarily concerned with getting him reelected/isolating him from everyone else in the government.

My country,Indonesia is ranked 1st for corruption of all country.
Yeah,I know my country sucks. -
yessa!…........
-
My Isla is also a corrupted shit-hole… it really is

The following is completely made for comic purposes.
And it's 100-fucking-% true.

We're too large and heterogeneous.

I still maintain that John Ford is a necromancer and that he was the one that sent those dead people to vote for his sister in that election. Oh well, he got busted in Tennessee Waltz, so his days of sloughing at the public trough are over.
-
no question. in fact, the sad truth is, when folks hear "politician" they think of corrupt rich folks who do nothing but hire other folks to take tax dollars and waste them.
Now, I know ALL politicians aren't corrupt, but the general masses of them are. Has to do with the pressure certain groups put on them I think.Good to hear from you Goldeneye! Been a while. You doin alright?
-
If only Steven Colbert made it farther than he did
I wholeheartedly agree. Everyone would vote for him if he was on the ballot.
-
I'll be honest. Not too interested in politics, since I can't vote and alot of the issues don't really apply to me yet.
People who just go "Politicians are corrupt and only care about the money" are probably better off responding like me, because it's pretty obvious that they are just stating popular opinion to sound opinionated, and have really no knowledge on the subject.
Not saying they are, not saying they aren't. But I mean, if you have no sources or evidence to back it up, you're probably better off not saying anything about it.
-
Making the blanket statement that "All politicans are corrupt", like tony-kun said, is just stupid. Corruption is inherent in any government to an extent; it just seems more rampant now because of our current administration's incompetence. You want to see some real corruption, try looking at some of the governments in Africa, South America, or parts of Asia. The United States is quite tame by comparison.
Also, speaking of politics I'm getting kind of people talking about how "Feur Bush" has caused the downfall of America. He and his administration have done quite a lot to infringe upon the rights of American citizens. But, we've had bad presidents before, we're going to have bad presidents in the future, and the happenings of this administration will eventually be lost in history. Not one single president is going to destroy the country completely.
As for our current crop of presidential candidates, if Ron Paul gets on the ballot I'll vote for him. The rest can go fuck themselves.
-
I wholeheartedly agree. Everyone would vote for him if he was on the ballot.
No they wouldn't, but the fear of that was why he got shot down.
And I'm surprised he was surprised about the huge barrier to entry into the Republican primaries. As one radio guy commented about the fee a few months ago, "NO BLACKS ALLOWED".
-
I'm surprised people took his campaign seriously
-
I certainly didn't
Dear God the Doritos jokes were hilarious though.
-
Ah, I love corrupt politicians. They spice up our lives with their crappy conflicts and the jokes that comedians make about them.
There are nice politicians, tough. Saying that all politicians are corrupt is like stating that Ghandi was evil because he was a LawyeR, but perhaps he's the nicest lawyer of History, if not the only "good" one. XD
-
My knowledge of history fails me at the moment, so I don't remember who it was that warned his fellow Indians not to side with Hitler precisely because his administration didn't lie about what it was doing. His basic argument was that the British could at least be caught in a lie now and then, publicly shamed, and forced to do the right thing. Hitler would just tell them up front that he planned to screw them over, then proceed to do it.
-
So, what's more EVIl by public standards?
Politicians or Lawyers?
What about the Lawyers who happen to be Politicians?
-
Many politicians start out as lawyers. If you want to make law, you have to understand it.
Concerning lawyer-ing, even if you know that your client is guilty, you still have to defend him/her, because it's your fucking job. Terrible, but that's the way the system is set up. And the system is damn near impossible to change.
-
Colbert's idea wasn't funny even when it was a terrible Robin William's movie.
-
The only thing I really found funny was how obvious it was that he wasn't even serious, yet most everyone was like "WHOOO GO STEVE COLBERT I AM VOTIN FOR U"
What the fuck
-
I think Colbert's "running" was largely due to all the guests on the show that kept going "hay maybe you could run for president" in their attempts to be funny. I don't think he was even big on the idea himself to begin with.
But of course you get all the dumbasses who go WOULDN'T IT BE FUNNY IF HE WAS PRESIDENT THAT WOULD SHOW EM
-
Another funny thing was when he went to be interviewed on the Daily Show, he rode in on that wagon with the flags waving and everything
but yeah, probably to make those STEWART/COLBERT 08 college age retards ooze in glee
-
But of course you get all the dumbasses who go WOULDN'T IT BE FUNNY IF HE WAS PRESIDENT THAT WOULD SHOW EM
Kind of like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
-
Wasn't he only running in one state anyways? ( attempting to get on the ballot I mean)

Hell No! nobody wants another Bush running the show.

@Sandai:

Did you see his face? Then Obama's?
I've never seen a smile that devious, nor a face so pissed off..
DEMOCRATS are LOL

Those crazy old people with their discolored looking teeth.

^ You speak the truth. Horrible example for America's dental care.
-
No, I do not think politicians are corrupt. I think this because most politicians in the United States are not controlling and not trying to take away our freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc.

No, it is not a good thing for me since I like Obama better than Mccain. Also, I rather have a Democratic president than a Republican one.

Those kind of politicians wouldn't be corrupt for long. Doing those things is pretty much a career ender.
Just what is your definition of corrupt?
-
Just what is your definition of corrupt?
My definition of corrupt is someone mad with power or someone who uses his/her power to take away your freedom.
-
Oh. When i hear corrupt I mainly think about people taking bribes and working for secret agendas. (fucking with the publics freedoms would kind of undermine any of that)
I wouldn't call hitler corrupt. A tyrant and evil dictator yes but I dont think he was corrupt. maybe my definition is off.
Besides wouldn't a politician need to remodle the whole American political system to be able to remove your freedoms? I thought the three parts of your goverment (president, senate and high court) keept each other in check? Meh I know too little about american politics. I know too little about domestic politics too for that matter.
-
My definition of corrupt is someone mad with power or someone who uses his/her power to take away your freedom.
Well America already does that to people in other countries.
As a matter of fact, they always have.
-
On the topic's subject, having worked with politicians I can say that these guys aren't really corrupt, though one has to define what corrupt is. Working in their self interest? Everyone does that, only a hypocritical loser would use that as a criticism! Politicians aren't really money hogs, they want glory and are going to please as many people as possible to get it, but they have to cater to special interests because interest groups have the money to influence elections.
Basically, politicians are the tool for the people who are in power, those with the cash. Businesses, corporates, the "have's" are the true rulers of capitalist economies, if there's corruption one would have to look at them first.
^ You speak the truth. Horrible example for America's dental care.
Now hold on a second.
Britannians have excellent dental care, unlike the Brits and Japanese; we pride ourselves on brushing twice a day and after every meal, flossing regularly and using mouth wash and cleansing gum. The problem is, most of the folks with bad teeth are lazy and don't follow standard procedure, so they end up with gnarly branches like McCain's.
-
Sure do think most are corrupt, if they weren't, they would make the earth a better place instead of burning fossil fuels and making the earth a huge oven that we will pay for in the near future!
-

Well not everyone is going to want to do all that you know

The more I think about it, the more I think the term best applied to U.S. politicians is 'venal', rather than corrupt. Revisiting something M_T brought up, they are beholden to the people who help pay for their campaign expenses. Maybe if enough private citizens got together, they could pool their resources to fund the campaign of at least one candidate. Even if it's only at a state or municipal level, the people would have one politician who was in their pocket, rather than someone else's.
Some politicians, however, are as corrupt as they are venal. They put their personal ambitions and desires before the will or consent of the people they represent and govern, and take money from the wolf in exchange for admittance to the sheepfold. These are thankfully few, and cannot escape the law forever. Though they do tend to have put off the judgement they so rightfully deserve for far longer than is necessary.
