I have read the first 16 volumes of One Piece through the VIZ releases, and they are coming out way too slow. I tried looking for scans online, but everything I found has been dirty and poorly translated. I've read all of Naruto online, and it has never been this bad, and from what I can tell, the scans for One Piece don't get better for a long time.
Are there any alternative scans out there? Mainly more cleaned up versions that don't call Wapol "Vapolu".

It would appear that both of those sites have the same type of scans as well. I'm reading from chapter 146, and it's hard to tell what's going on due to the quality of the scans.

I'm pretty sure it starts to get better, though, I mean, I think it'd lighten up by the end of Skypiea. I'm honestly not sure, as I don't commonly read the passed chapters much unless I'm looking for a reference or a quote. Sorry if that didn't help much

They used to have One Piece Msn group version 3, but all the links are broken now. version 1 is really bad quality, unfortunately.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Yeah, with any series that's been running this long, you've got to expect the older scans won't be so great, and that nobody will really be willing to re-do them years later. It sucks, but what are you gonna do.

Quality gets better somewhere around Volume 28, although it's still inconsistent at times. Those mangascreener scans are terrible.

think KF will do better scans, but if the project start it will be a couple of years before they do all i guess, till then you can watch the anime or suffer in bad manga

correct me if I am wrong but I think Null is going back and redoing old scans, I think they are at Volume 20 right now.

No, Null is now scanlating the current tankos, which means they released already Volume 46 and are working atm on Volume 47.
They re-did Volume 26, 27 and 40 but stopped after that just like the WJ chapters and concentrate now on the just released tankos.
We can only hope that another group will re-scanlate the first Volumes someday.

I read most of Naruto online, starting from about volume 9. Everything except for a few select chapters (literally only like three or four) were completely clean and well done.

It would be pretty sweet if they did, but remember that naruto is one of the few mangas that everyone and their mother was scanning so you can expect it to be good; whereas one piece did not get much attention at first since its older and has a smaller US fanbase. Be happy with the current scans, theres worse out there aka Detective Conan scans, those are like the HK rips of scans.

What the smurf? Back when we´ve been planning on releasing the first volumes I was told that we would face consequences because we´d be working on chapters/volumes already licensed and released by Viz. How come that now that seems to be no problem at all anymore?

well v29 comes after v28 normal and as i said, v45 is already scanned… so it's not like it's totally random...

I am not sure how long these things usually take, haha.The best thing would be if Viz did the fast-release thing like they did with Naruto. And if they stopped editing swears as much.

well editing one volume takes between 2 weeks to a couple of months. in the first case, it means you have a reliable tler, a good proofer, a couple of editors or one hyper motivated, some qcers. so basically, it's mostly impossible for many teams. then when someone in the team takes longer than usual, the whole thing is delayed (tl for us on v47 for example) and now the qc is lacking behind… but believe me, at least 2 years will pass before KF edits those 25 volumes...

Well, if its just for the translation - why not. Although my word pool wouldnt satisfy a target audience of the 8 - 15 year olds.

Has anyone redone the last few volumes of the Alabasta arc? I remember the third Crocodile fight particularly had terrible quality.
