You kind of missed the last two letters…

Anyways, Bleach is a good series, but I really wish that Kubo would get around to developing the characters that he created. Sure, this latest flashback developed the Vizards, Aizen's group, Urahara, and Yoruichi, but there's a bunch more characters out there that could still be developed (Isshin, Shunsui, Tousen, Gin, Yamamoto, and Komamura, for starters).

Wow, give the guy a chance. Kubo has shown us a little bit of development on Gin and even a little of Tousens. It's obvious he will get to them on their developments. Obviously none of those other heavy hitters you mentioned haven't even had a serious fight yet. Undoubtably he will give the audience a flashback on many of those characters.

Name one character that has been developed that doesn't matter. In the grand scheme of things, all of the characters that Oda develops seem to have a reason for being developed that has to do with progressing the story.

Then tell me what happened to all those secondary characters from all the islands Straw hats left?. Who cares right now about Nojiko, The flying fishriders, or Pell right now? (who was proven to be alive after the Alabasta Arc FROM A CITY DESTROYING BOMB BWAHWAHHAAHWAHA!!)

There are hundred of useless characters in One Piece. Hell…even inside the straw hat crew only Nami, Luffy, Zoro, Ussop, Sanji and Robin matters.... all the rest are treated like fodder or comic relief. And the characters are always the same: Luffy as an imbecile tard who wants to became Pirate King, Zoro just kills random swordmen until Mihawk and Sanji only got development in his intro arc and just try to look boss with his cigar.

This is coming from a guy with One Piece as #1 on his anime list.

Now, Bleach is actually enjoyable but I only read it once every two months. I read around 10 chapters in one sitting to actually enjoy it. It has all these random swirls and scenery shots which are usually beautiful to look at but totally unnecessary which make up for very unsatisfactory chapters.

If you want to talk about unnecessary and wasted panels (as the panels used in One Piece's useless characters development according to your claim), why don't you take a good look at Bleach again?

I find the lack of deaths in One Piece ridiculous though but I just have to bear it. On Bleach however, there have been plenty of deaths but only a very very few of the good guys who aren't cannon fodder have died in the entire series. Surprising, considering that they are usually fighting enemies stronger than they are. But I agree that Pell's survival is one of the most ridiculuos survivals in shonen, I won't argue with you on that one.

Now let's talk about characters. You claim that Kubo does not develop useless characters, but I must point out that he still continues to introduce them. If they are actually useless, why introduce them at all?

If a manga has side characters that aren't actually important to the main plot, developing side stories and histories for some of the more interesting ones would emphasize that the world is not made up of only the main cast. I mean, who cares about that martial artist friend of Orihime now? Who cares about Ichigo's powerless school friends now? And what do we know about the other vice captains other than the fact that they are utterly weak compared to Ichigo? What happened to that boy-turned-to-bird-sent-to-Soul-Society? What about Ganju? My point is that it would be much more interesting having background on these characters as well. And that's what I mean about side character development being important as well.

And that's coming from a guy who's #1 favorite manga is Bleach.

Read my long rant on Bleach carefully. The cultures were built up. We intereacted with Soul Societies norms and it's civilians. We even intereacted with HM's. One Piece's interactions with civilians and cultures turn out useless in the end.

Tokaru Ataru stated specifically and implicitly that One Piece CONSTANTLY and CONTINUOUSLY (as in it keeps doing it) introduces new cultures and delves into the traditions and the lifestyles of the civilians (whether it's useless or not has no bearing on the discussion). He also said how in Bleach or Naruto, they only fight in certain places and that's it. In Bleach's case it's either Karakura, Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. He also stated that it is with the character interactions with the "useless" civilians that all hell breaks loose.

You said that Bleach also does this. As in Bleach also constantly and continuously make up new cultures as in still doing it now.

I'm waiting for you to prove this.

For me, the failing of Bleach revolves around the narrowness of its scope. There are a lot of background things that I would like clarified or explained in detail, like the Shinigami being reincarnated as humans, the nature of Hell, what role the King plays, do the Shinigami operate internationally as well? Heck, if there was one thing I could ask Kubo, it would be whether the Shinigami remember their human lives or not ('cause they are dead souls, after all).

I can't deny that Kubo has come up with a potentially engrossing world, it's just that he doesn't fully utilize it.

Slightly changing the subject a bit: I've noticed that there are some people out there who seem to obsess with "reactions" by certain Espada and use them to justify ranking within them. In particular I've seen threads that try to take this image from the latest chapter to discern who is 1/2/3:

Yet at the same time, reactions at one point seem to negate reactions at another and thus throws all predictions out the window. Remember Zolmari? After Arroniero's death, he seemed one of the most collected of the Espada as seen here:

One thing I find odd is how everyone is complaining about how Yamamoto's "fire fortress" should be completely useless because it's just a "ring" or something. Did it ever occur to you that it might be like a box? Because I can't seem to recall them ever showing anything that indicated that they could just fly out of there.

Anyway, it doesn't sound likely. Imo it would make sense to write an arc that further expands on the world of bleach. Kubo could give us as an adversary out of that ominous hell for example. I doubt he will get much opportunity to include hell during this arc already.

The last chapter of previous volume was Pessche & Dodonchakka attacking Szayel, so Nel was still fully grown (better her than Zolmari but Mayuri better get the next cover)

I suspect that during this fight we will get to see atleast one member of the Zero Squad. If they show up, then it will probably be their weakest, say like the captain that was promoted to the Squad. I dont believe he was mentioned specifically being promoted if there wasnt a reason for it.

Not to mention the fact that they are the Royal protection squad, and if the Shinigami are seen to be losing to Aizen they might be released in order to protect the King.

Regarding the cover: haven't we already had two others with fanservice written all over them? Not everybody might consider Yoruichi's ass fanservice, though, since she has her pants on.

The other one is, of course, the cover for volume nine with Kûkaku.
