Yup, it's official and they also changed the director :/

Still I'm not that much into getting a PS3 yet, unless I get one for free or something :V.
Alas another possible reason to perhaps get a PS3- God of War III
-

This is one of those unsurprising surprises.
As awesome GoW II was, it left the taste of Pirates of Caribbean 2 to my mouth but then again it was just because of the ending. But GoWIII could be pretty hard hitting thanks to the ending.
Perhaps a better link:

You make it sound like a good reason to buy something is a bad thing (@ at the topic title)

God Of War being another possible reason to get a PS?
-Free Online Play (unlike the Xbox 360)
-Games that cater to people who actually play games on a regular basis or for the challenge (unlike the Wii)
- Unlike Microsoft, Sony has a lot franchises [exclusive to their system(s)]
all the while cranking out new games and franchises like Uncharted,Infamous, and Motorstorm.Whereas Microsoft has somebody like Epic making games for the 360 which wind up being ported to the PC (voiding their exclusivity) and then when they have nothing else they start leeching off of Sony.
But to get back on topic hopefully we won't have to wait too long I wanna kick Zeuses ass badly.

What games for the PS3, exsclusive or otherwise are you talking about lol.

Too bad that so-called "free online play" hasn't got SHIT worth playing online. Not to mention, PS3's missing quite a bit of online play that the 360 has going for it, like with Virtua Fighter 5.
@Sandai:
-Games that cater to people who actually play games on a regular basis or for the challenge (unlike the Wii)
Too bad Sony's too busy marketing BLU-RAY MOVIES rather than these so called games that are supposed to be catered to everyone.
Where's the quality action games? The quality fighters? The RPGs? Hell, the 360 has more RPGs than the PS3 at this point. And it didn't even start to get them until earlier on in this year.
@Sandai:

God of War? Not coming out until a goood long while. Ratchet & Clank? Great. I'll give them that. Jak? It's finished. In fact, looking at Sony's past installments, most were one offs and some that just didn't grab many people. Only a few actually established any audiences.
@Sandai:

lol Wut? Boy are you COMPLETELY misguided when it's the DEVELOPERS who go to Microsoft. Especially when it's been the DEVELOPERS saying that it's too damn difficult and not profitable to develop soley for the PS3.
Ratchet, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War III. Three games I'd like to have, three games I would not be willing to buy a console only for them.

And GTA lost forever to the cross-platform world.
Metal Gear is slipping that way pretty damn fast too. Snake in Brawl? Hell you know what that spells. -

Virtua Fighter 5 wasn't all that great anyway and whoever was the genius who decided to release the game on the PS3 without online play ,epecially with other preceeding fighting games like Tekken 5 & DOA4 having OP should've gotten his ass reamed out.
Too bad Sony's too busy marketing BLU-RAY MOVIES rather than these so called games that are supposed to be catered to everyone
So what's wrong with Sony Marketing Blu-Ray it's not as pointless and mundane as marketing an HD-DVD player & with HD movies like King Kong. And to add-on to that Blu-Ray is outselling HD 2 to1 the last I checked Blu-Ray also happens to be the standard that Sony is going with for their games (even if it's been some delays here there).

I'll ask a better question where's the good exclusive shit that Microsoft is supposed to have for and only the 360 Mass Effect,Call Of Duty 4,Rock Band, Assassin's Creed,Bioshock,Halo 3.What's the point to getting these games for the 360? [Acheivements] if they're going to be multi or cross platform or free to play online on those platforms, not to mention the fact that Mircosoft seems to like goughing people on the Marketplace.
Furthermore at E3 I didn't Microsoft hit the floor with anything most of the suff they showed was not exclusive,original, or anything we'd hadn't seen or heard about prior to the conference, I did see alot of arrogance & boasting though, no wonder everybody says Sony won.
lol Wut? Boy are you COMPLETELY misguided when it's the DEVELOPERS who go to Microsoft. Especially when it's been the DEVELOPERS saying that it's too damn difficult and not profitable to develop soley for the PS3
Or maybe because the either had no faith in the PS3 with all the issue(s)
surrounding it leading up to it's launch or maybe it was because they
like backstabbing people (i.e. Capcom) -
And GTA lost forever to the cross-platform world.
Metal Gear is slipping that way pretty damn fast too. Snake in Brawl? Hell you know what that spells.Not really. Hideo Kojima BEGGED to have Snake in Melee. But since Melee was too far into production, they couldn't put Snake in. When Brawl was thought up, they called Kojima up and asked if he was still intereted.

I said Blu-Ray MOVIES. Not Blu-Ray in general. Obviously Blu-Ray is the better choice over HD-DVD, but you also have to consider that HD-DVD isn't even a video game media format. My point was that Sony's basically saying "PLAYSTATION 3: IT PLAYS GAMES, TOO!" with the way they're marketing it. The focus is more on the movies aspect, rather than games. This is the third time they're pushing the PS3 with movies, rather than games. At launch, you got a free Blu-Ray disc of Talladega Nights. Midway in, you could choose up to 5 Blu-Ray movie discs. Now with the purchase of a 40GB PS3, you get Spider-Man 3 on Blu-Ray.
Focus less on the god damned movies and more on the games.

Want to play them on PC? Prepare to pay out the ass for a PC that can handle the games as well as a decent graphics card. That in itself would be more expensive.
Ports from PS3? Which is cheaper? Getting a 360 plus said game or getting a PS3 with said game? Don't forget, if you want HD, you have to buy HDMI cables since they're not included with the PS3.
360 versions end up being the cheaper solutions. Not to mention, you don't HAVE to get downloads from the Marketplace. Most downloadable content isn't even necessary.
@Sandai:

I find this funny because Sony's been EXTREMELY arrogant and full of themselves this gen around, thinking they were still cock of the walk just because of two successful past generations. Sony hasn't won shit. They're trailing behind dead last in every region but Japan (though this is mainly because Japan HAET gaijin consoles).
@Sandai:
Or maybe because the either had no faith in the PS3 with all the issue(s)

like backstabbing people (i.e. Capcom)Yes that's totally it. Because certainly the PS3 isn't a difficult console to develop for due to the Cel processor. It certainly isn't because of the console's high price that's driving consumers away, thus lowering sales of games for developers. And it's OBVIOUSLY because Capcom is an evil company that LOVES having to retool their games to work on other consoles to be sure the games make a profit. Yeah, that's certainly it. e_e

So, instead this thread being about God of War 3, it's about Console War. Please guys, this isn't GameFAQs right? The whole thing is just annoying. I'm sure all of the machines are worth of owning.
I might buy a PS3 after I can get one within price range of 300 euros. But so far I couldn't have been more happier with my Xbox 360, in fact I struggle to keep up with all the good games, and Wii is starting look too darn good to pass. It would be almost criminal not to buy one at this point. So once 360, DS and possible Wii won't have anything to offer me anymore and I can get a PS3 with 300 euros, I will get one. For sure. I will eat my hat if I won't, I swear. Even if it was just for MGS4.
Now, let's talk about this game. There's better be Heracles in this one. Sons of Zeus facing off each others would be pretty epic. I wonder if they have abandoned the storyline of Kratos's brother all together by now…
-
though this is mainly because Japan HAET gaijin consoles
Not entirely so. Japanese people will buy a system just for a game. Friend of mine is a hardcore DoA fan, he bought an XBox just for that.
The difference is, not a lot of people give a shit about FPS. I think the most they ever got into them was Goldeneye. And well, since it was mainly Halo that created the XBox's userbase around most of the globe, you can see the lack of interest in Japan.
They tend to see many FPS games the way we see many vomit-inducing dating text sims.
-

I've often heard that the reason the Japanese don't like FPS is because they tend to induce motion sickness.
Do you think thats part of the case? Or do you think theres some other reason why FPS just aren't so hot in Japan?
-
It's largely just a cultural thing. Once something doesn't catch on in a culture, it's often hard to get it to ever flourish there.
Xbox doesn't sell simply because it doesn't have the type of games that the Japanese user base plays; that's pretty much the entire extent of it. Which is why Microsoft is pushing to make RPG's for their console, but at this point, it's like trying to feed Brussels sprouts to a fussy kid that has his mouth sealed with a stapler gun. There are some people that are biting, but for the most part, you just don't really see many people at the Microsoft booths.
-
Sony's PR campaigns of 06/07 are some of the most hilarious failures around.
Didn't some sony guy say he would give a thousand or so dollars to anyone who found an unsold PS3 in a store? -
It's not just any RPG games MS needs to be pushing. Japanese don't seem to give a darn about Western style RPG, 360 has to deliver some pretty impressive JRPG titles before it has any chances there. No matter how good Mass Effect or Fable 2 will be, I doubt that they could make an enough big impact. And JPRG is a really crowded genre so MS's chances are pretty slim even if they could pull off couple really good ones.
So I'm like the only who cares to talk about GoWIII… is it too obvious to think that Kratos will become the sole God of the whole universe?
-

I think they are focusing more on games than movies I mean I don't see MS coming out with White Night Story,Infamous,Warhawk,Killzone2 or any other first part exclusives that are only going to be on PS3. And I won't going into the all the details but Microsoft seems to put more emphasis on watching movies on their console than Sony does.
Want to play them on PC? Prepare to pay out the ass for a PC that can handle the games as well as a decent graphics card. That in itself would be more expensive.
Sorry put I don't have the money needed for PC gaming and personally
it suxs ass.Ports from PS3? Which is cheaper? Getting a 360 plus said game or getting a PS3 with said game? Don't forget, if you want HD, you have to buy HDMI cables since they're not included with the PS3.
Both now and I don't care for the HD mumbo jumbo like everyone else, I'll take yellow,white,red over red,blue & green anyday
360 versions end up being the cheaper solutions. Not to mention, you don't HAVE to get downloads from the Marketplace. Most downloadable content isn't even necessary.
If you hosting a session of Gears of War and the guys your playing against like one of the newer maps that you don't have then you best hit the marketplace with it first hits or take the easy way out and hope that they make it free, which Epic said they wanted to to do in the first place FYI.

Sony hasn't won shit. They're trailing behind dead last in every region but Japan (though this is mainly because Japan HAET gaijin consoles)..
Yea but they been humbled since then i.e. 40GB PS3=$399.99
also I wouldn't say they're trailing dead last (I don't know the numbers worldwide but they can't be as atrocious as sales for the Zune.)Yes that's totally it. Because certainly the PS3 isn't a difficult console to develop for due to the Cel processor. It certainly isn't because of the console's high price that's driving consumers away, thus lowering sales of games for developers. S:silly: are people still whining about the price tag funny because, those same people more than likely went & voiced their anger/crticisms on their $500-$900 desktops or $600-$1000+ laptops or better yet paid $500 or $600 for the IPhone. Also not all developers have problems developing for the system [though some do] and Sony more or less gives them free range do whatever they want when developing stuff unlike Microsoft.And to close this out let's look a Capcom's track record
- Devil May Cry 2
- The Gamecube ports of RE 2 & 3
- Dino Crisis (all)
- Screwing up the jump controls for MM Anniversary collection.
- Onimusha 2 & Dawn Of Dreams
But on a serious note why is it that Capcom can't seem to know where they're loyaties lie?
- Back On Topic -
He'll probably juat get himself killed again only this time no Deus Ex
which would really suck.
