I was waiting for his response to this. It's just as good as I wanted it.

If he likes the character that much, why not just turn the RIP in BRIAN?
I'm behind on American Dad, is Jeff back already? Or did he one-off appear in the Christmas episode that was produced before he got sent into space or something?
Jeff still hasn't come back, and the Christmas episode last Sunday didn't have him. Though it did have the vengeful Santa.

People keep talking as if he had.
Did he have an actual return episode… or were there just episodes aired out of production order?

From what I understand, there was an episode that focused on him in space and escaping death from the aliens. Now he's trying to make his way home, which is difficult since there are something like 1000 planets called Earth.

That's… pretty cool actually.
And absolutely not undoing the consequences of him leaving at all. (They didn't KILL him after all, just had him abducted.)
Who would've thought that dull show about a straw republican would eventually evolve into Seth's finest work

Well, its the show he does the least on, (aside from providing voices) so…
there are something like 1000 planets called Earth.
Was a reason for this ever given or was it just a random joke ?
Cause I did sort of think about the fact that naming the planet with the same word used for soil/the ground would be a pretty understandable thing for other alien races to do….and thusly wondered how that's never an issue in any sci-fi show :P

Like I said, I never saw the episode myself. I think it was just a last minute reveal to show that Jeff wouldn't be coming back any time soon (or at least as soon as the writers want him back).

Nice sig. ATB sequel anyone?
Yeah, I just assumed Jeff was "back" due to that outer space prison/escape episode. The fact that they did that episode seems to confirm that he's still an active part of the series. However, the more I think about it, the more it almost seems like like a spin-off story. Like there will be one or two episodes per season that focus solely on Jeff trying to find his way home but he's otherwise completely divorced from the main series. That or he'll return sometime this season.

That gives them leeway to break formula and do something really different as a breather occasionally…. why WOULDN'T they keep that kind of option around?
(Well, the same reason Brian was only dead for one episode... they're lazy and uncreative and afraid of change.)

It's got Sir Patrick Stewart in a regular role. It couldn't NOT be good.
The AD staff certainly do take advantage of having Patrick Stewart on board. The stuff they have him say is…gold.
Is it weird that I actually think Vinny (Venny?) is cool?
^ I liked him and definitely hated the very dumb reasoning behind him being written out of the show.
Vinny was actually kind of a breath of fresh air. Yes, the mobster jokes would have gotten old fast, but… assuming the show doesn't run for another 10 years he probably wouldn't have had as much time to become as awful as the rest of the cast.
Just having someone, something, to mix stuff up helps a show after so many years.
