Family Guy: Isn't abuse funny?
-
-
^^^Wow. I missed the beginning of Simpsons last night, so I didn't even see that.
-
The link went out
Basically the opening was storyboarded by a reclusive UK anti-establishment etc etc graffiti artist called Banksy.
-
How the hell did that get past… well... anyone?
Its certainly interesting, but you think its the sort of thing the network would have vetoed during the storyboard process.
I'm not being negative towards the bit. Just in shock that it got through.
-
Apparently it led to "delays, disputes over broadcast standards and a threatened walk out by the animation department"
But somehow made it through.
-
I'm kinda surprised(and amused) it got passed myself. Everytime there's a Fox joke on the show, it's always so subtle in a way like ,"we can't say anything bad about Fox".
-
So….I just watched the latest Family Guy episode on Adult Swim with the focus on Brian. My personal opinion was that it was pretty horrible.
-
Welcome to the last four years.
-
It showed a bunch of Chinese in labor working on Simpsons, and Simpsons products.
Pretty sure they were supposed to be South Korean (that's where animation is usually outsourced too). Although admittedly it looked at lot more like what we envision China or NK as being like. Maybe that's the joke…? Ha ha?
-
family guy is a very good show i love it!!
-

Banksy, as seemingly implied in the film "Exit Through the Gift Shop" (where he also achieved "fame"), is more likely than not a hoax of an artist. For lack of a better word. It can be a complicated film if you attempt to dissect what it's really about, but satire would seem the easiest answer.
What this means in regards to the Simpsons intro is unknown. I wouldn't take it to mean anything serious though, such as some sort of commentary. Not that it isn't already obvious, what with the goofy little tidbits (such as them popping out disk centers on a unicorn's horn).
-
It was interesting, if weird. Bonus points go to the decapitated dolphin, I hate those beasties with a passion.
-
…I have never heard anyone say that before. o_O
-
-
That's not funny. That's…. not funny at all.
-
Saw a commercial for a new animaton called Bobs Burgers
might as well rename animation Domination the Mcfarlane blockalso..what happened to the huge tri-crossover episodes of the series..it never aired
-
Saw a commercial for a new animaton called Bobs Burgers
might as well rename animation Domination the Mcfarlane blockI looked that up, and it's not made by McFarlane.
Besides, even it was, I doubt it would replace the Simpsons.
-
More Seth stuff you say? That guy needs his own channel.
Edit: It's not? Thank god.
-
the biggest tragedy regarding seth mcfarlane is that animators have started emulating his garbage tv show art style
-
I don't think the Bob's Burger animation looks that similar to Seth's to be honest. It actually looks worse.
-
I'm getting tired of these "family cast" oriented shows.
-
it is hilarious how people on fox make fun of fox so much lol…. thank Richard Pryor.

i wasn't talking about that show (never heard of it), but i meant like independent animated shorts

Ehh, I find it a little bit annoying. Especially when Seth preaches about how terrible it is and what a negative affect it has, and yet he does almost entire programming block for them, making them tons of money. If he actually cared he would walk away. But he doesn't care. He just wants to be edgy.

Oh, I haven't seen any. But to be honest, the art is one of the few things I like about Seth's programs.

So, I caught a rerun of Family Guy on Adult Swim for the first time in awhile last night, mostly out of boredom and morbid curiosity. And boy, do I regret it. The episode I saw just epitomizes how hard this show has fallen after becoming uncanceled. It was the one where Chris is dating that vet receptionist, and Peter gives him advice by telling him to be a complete asshole to her. I was appalled by how much of an insensitive dick the writers made Peter's character. The same thing happened to the other characters; they became exaggerated hollow shells. It's a lot worse than the devolution that happened to The Simpsons characters.
-
It's weird because Seth's drawing style was completely different before "Family Guy", as seen in "Larry and Steve". Wonder what happened?
-
South Park > Family Guy > Simpsons :ninja:
That is all. -
Futurama>King of the Hill> Simpsons> Rubbish > Family Guy
Fact.
-
I really never could get into king of the hill, which is strange since i love all other Mike Judge stuff.

The pacing is a bit too slow for me, though I have to admit it has had some gems.
As for family guy: I usually end up getting suckered into buying the seasons despite the utter disappointment every time the marathon is over.
I think I've finally learnt my lesson…
-

Aww… I love King Of The Hill. I didn't really get it at first, in fact I used to cast it aside and not think much of it at all. I thought it was "boring", but once it came on Adult Swim I started to watch the episodes because I realized it was at least bearable to watch unlike certain other Adult Swim shows.
It is an acquired taste. Now I think that the episodes are hilarious. Well, not all of them, but it's a great show even when it isn't hilarious. I am just really saddened now that it had to get replaced by The Cleveland Show of all things. That show, no all three of Seth's shows have nothing on King Of The Hill. Although The Cleveland Show is the worst. So it replacing King Of The Hill is horrible.
-
King of the Hill was a very up-and-down show. One episode would make it the best thing on television while the next one could be a dud. The latter seemed more likely in those episodes that basically followed the plot outline of "somebody (usually Bill) tries to do something, it doesn't work, person manages to fix the situation, but not really, Hank steps in and fixes everything, the end."
That said, it never really descended to the levels of outright terrible like the McFarlane shows. Of the lot, American Dad is consistently least terrible these days since it started as an obvious clone of Family Guy, but manages to avoid the worst excesses of that show. It's certainly no King of the Hill though.
-
For a while I thought King of the Hill was going to do the basically unprecedented for american animation and have the cast age in real time, when Joseph went through puberty. Of course, thats just cause the original voice wanted to leave, they never had the nerve to do it to Bobby, which was kind of a shame. They did kill Cotton eventually, which was pretty daring given how much they used him.
Some of the ongoing plot threads were pretty interesting too… even if the John Redcorn plot stretched over 13 years was a bit ridiculous.
Peggy Hill is perhaps the most subtly horrible person in recent television history that you're supposed to like. (She's no Archie Bunker or Eric Cartman, but... she was an incredibly conceited selfish person.)

Same
I really can't get into King of the Hill…
Its so...
"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh" -
Were we supposed to like Peggy?
And didn't Brittney Murphy voice Joseph before puberty? That just means she goes to just voicing Luanne and bringing someone else in.
-
she was different in season one. I really liked season one peggy.
and i think it's hilarious that people actually talk like boomhower. (sp)

South Park -> Futurama -> Simpsons -> American Dad -> Family Guy

Eh, South Park can sometimes be a bit too preachy and vulgar for its own good, so I'd say.
Old Simpsons > Futurama > South Park > Old Family Guy > King of the Hill > American Dad > New Simpsons > New Family Guy
-

If THAT was the case, there was really no reason not to do it to Bobby since they just aged the character for the sake of aging them. Wierd.
-
Well Joseph is one of the characters that did get more interesting after he went through puberty. It's like how John Redcorn and Nancy could be used for so much more after the affair was over, since before then all they did was have that one affair joke per episode.
-

Old Simpsons > Futurama > South Park > Old Family Guy > King of the Hill > American Dad > New Simpsons > New Family Guy
oooo I agree with you!
-
oh god. it's "that" episode again >< my stomach is already queezy.
-
Me and my fiance just got done watching the latest family guy episodes on Hulu and continuity issue.
Brain mentions in the boxing episode that lois has never done anything harmfull like that before.
WTF!!??? did the writers of this season forget about Lois taking Tae Kwon Do and the entire family beating the living hell out of each other?
I miss when family guy would have the A. story and a B. story now it's just an A. story.
-

They don't care about continuity.
Or consistent characterization.
Or any charactization for that matter.
Or quality.
Hell, sometimes in an episode they'll even blatantly point out they're contradicting an old episode and they're aware of it. "Hey, didn't you prove Rush Limbah was actually Fred Savage?" or "Hey Brian, how can you have a 15 year old son when you're only 7?" and they just shrug and ignore it to do the episode anyway.
This is why Brian can switch from voice of reason to total douchebag to looking for a smart woman to looking for a slut from hard democrat to pretend republican. Because they just don't care.
The rest of the cast just gets more retarded as time goes on.
And they may as well write Meg out entirely in some way.
-
I forgot about Family Guy until I saw this topic… How many Brian episodes this time?
-
all adult swim shows>futurama>ugly americans>everything else
