I played the game Deus Ex recently. For those of you who have never heard of it, it's a game that came out years ago that got absolute rave reviews with critics heralding how diverse the gameplay was and how original and interesting the storyline was compared to most first-person shooters. I borrowed it from a friend who still prefers it to modern games. Her friends even agree on the point, stating it as one of the greatest games ever made.

I hated every second of it.

Enemies had to be riddled with bullets to kill them, most of the abilities you had were completely worthless, and the amazing storyline was about as complex as Philosophy 101. However, I have never met anyone or read any poor reviews or met anyone who absolutely despised this piece of sci-fi trash.

Anyway, ever played a game that is universally loved that you absolutely loathed?

But seriously, just don't like VF5. Bland characters, bland moves, bland everything. And while I'm sure the fighting is very deep, it's just a bore to play.

Unlike tekken where you fuck up once and your opponent dials a juggle for 60% of your health, of which he pretty much just mashed out.

Personally I find Halo not to be as good as everybody says, but still, I find it to be enjoyable to play online with friends. Good times, but not worth the hype.

Actually, in the context of the series I find Ocarina to be overrated and definitely not my favorite out of the Zeldas.

Not a big video game person here, but I'll say every Sonic game from SA2 onward.

The Halo series is overrated to the point of nausea, but I'll admit I have a lot of fun playing it with friends.

And aw hell, Ocarina of Time too. I don't really HATE it per se, but it gets way too much praise even amongst the Zelda series.

My main issue with Metroid Prime is that it took the already irritating Metroid series of "puzzles" wherein you figure out where to go next by just bombing every block of land ever into a 3D landscape, adding a whole new dimension to the frustration.

And I'm apparently not much of a Zelda fan because my two favorite 3D ones were Majora's Mask and Windwaker, which not too many seem to like.

Hey, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are probably my two favorites and I've played the whole series - actually Majora's Mask is the one that the "hardcore" fanbase generally designates as being the best.

And I'm pretty sure the later Sonic games and the Mario Party series are pretty universally hated.

Oh, Halo isn't a bad game at all – it's average. And nowhere near the praise it's given, especially when games like Call of Duty 2 are infinitely better.

Mario Party is really fun. Not sure why people hate it, since it's a party game, which is one of the things Nintendo excels at.

These games are the most boring and repetitive piles of shit I have ever played. I love how one of the great points for these games that is always flaunted is how the characters have lives that continue when you're not there. Hey, that's great but when the NPC's are boring as shit I really don't care what they do. Unless you've scheduled hordes of lizard people torching a village, killing the men and taking the women ala Ghenghis Khan I could care less. The time taken to do that would be better spent making a few NPC more interactive and interesting than spreading bland across the whole.

The "NPC lives" in Elder Scrolls consists of them walking around town at exact times every day. HOW EXCITING! Too bad they still have the same useless shit to say.

That, and the game isn't very customizable. No matter what build you are, you're going to use magic, which is really boring. You can't get through the game without magic, unless you make about a bazillion potions that weigh you down.

Moreover, the fighting is so clunky. Spells just require point-and-shoot, but melee combat is so tedious, especially when the CPU can block perfectly, attack, then immediately block again.

Also worth mentioning, a lot of people liked Killzone (from what I heard), but not me. It was just too…meh.

The first Killzone did kinda blow. But the second one looks infinitely better.

And as crazy as it sounds coming from a Street Fighter fanatic like me, was never particualirly fond of Street Fighter 2 and it's upgrade. Although I have come to like the Super Turbo upgrade with the added characters/super combos.

Despite how great Guile is, there's only so many times you can hear the fucker go "SOOZA BOO!" in a game before you slit somebody's throat. That game was all about some projectile spam.

I really hope most of you people took the time to play these games before "hating" them. It's not cool to hate, being "unique" isn't going to get you anywhere.

Anyways, my list is:

Halo (Console) -> I basically just hated the X-Box controller. It wouldn't let me invert the x-axis (or I couldn't figure it out) and most of the kids(emphasized) that play it are douchebags. It doesn't help that all of it's fans think it's the best thing since the Beatles hit America.
Zelda (ANY) -> Wow, what a borefest. Generic plot, kiddy graphics, boring main character, boring villain, and too many puzzles! I hate puzzles, I have no patience for them. There was no storyline to keep me interested either.
Mario/Donkey Kong/Sonic/Any platformer -> Well, where to beg… Okay sorry, I just got shot. Continuing, it's just not my style of game play. The main things I seek for in a video game are story line, complex/strategic playing, and visually captivating scenery. Those things are what makes it fun for me. Mario and Donkey Kong and whatever other generic plat former you can come up with are something I can play, beat 1 level, and get bored. The jump to 3D did not help either. What I can say about these series though, is that it has spawned some very fun games for me that fit under different genres (sports particularly.)

Of course Ive been out of the gaming crazy scene for about 3 years, so I dont know what all the young people are playing now.

But from what I've seen, everything pretty much sucks. The last good game I got was GTA: San Andreas.

I dig MvsC as well, even tho it's unblanced as all hell. But considering it has 56 characters, I doubt it was meant to be balanced. Still a blast playing with my buds tho. Wouldn't recomment it for tourney play unless you have some hella cheap strategy.

And I dislike the 3d MK's. The first 2d MK games bring back alot of memories, although wasn't really a big fan of those either.

MK didn't offer much in terms of the actual fight, but the fatalities were cool for me as a kid.

And MvsC was great if you were just a kid spamming buttons against your friends.

No, I like it too. Had a friend who I used to always play VF2+ with on his Saturn, so I grew up playing it a lot, and I own VF5 now.

I used to NOT like Tekken, but my girlfriend bought Dark Resurrection off of PS3's online store and I've grown a lot more fond of it.
