So yeah, Viruta Fighter anyone?
As far as my favorite character to use, definitely Lion.

I MIGHT consider trying it again, but I'd have to find a really cheap, used copy.
I liked Lau, Jeffry, and Shen.
HAKKYOKU-KEN
Yuki Akira all the way, mother fucker. Next in line is definitely El Blaze.
Virtua Fighter is definitely the main motivation for wanting an Xbox 360 right now; will definitely be abusing some online play, if that happens. Such an amazing game, what with the character customization, infinitely deep combat system that makes tiers practically useless, etc.
Wish they'd flesh out the characters to being more than just cardboard cut-outs, but if that comes at the expense of having a bad system, then forget it. Besides, some characters, like Jeffry, are really funny and don't need any change.
Usually the game goes for about $10 used, although thats VF4:Evolution. It has a few more things than the original VF4 and Brad and Goh, a kickboxer and Judo user respectively.
Either way, it shouldn't be that hard to find a copy.

Same here. I'm kinda pissed that there wasn't any online support for the PS3. Mainly due to the fact that I've grown so attached to the setup of the Playstation controller, and XBOX controllers haven't always felt the best to me, but I guess I'd actually have to own one, really play it outside of a store demo.
Its mostly with the way the way the back triggers are shaped, I'm a little concerned about how well P+G, P+K+G, K+G, and P+K+G would feel, and I use those so much :(
I actually just saw a commercial for the latest. I'd like to start using Goh again, if he's in it.
Fav characters are Lion and wolf.
Only played VF 4 though on PS2. Game is pretty good,IMO
Yeah, Goh still has all of his awesome Judo shit.
The characters may be bland, but it's nice to see some actual martial arts styles in this kind of game, even if some of them are a bit misrepresented. They can't perfectly replicate it, since some styles would just be better than others, like how it is in real life.
Is VF5 on 360 and PS3 only?
VF5 is awesome.
Play it at my friends house though since I don't have a 360.
I use Jacky(Only because his style is Jeet Kune Do), El Blaze and Shun.
EVERYONE uses Eileen and it's fucking annoying(Just getting that off my chest)
@Cap'n:

Yes.
If you can though, play it on PS3.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
@Cap'n:
Is VF5 on 360 and PS3 only?
Yup.
And the 360 is the only version thats going to have Online support. (Unless Sega decides to re-release an updated PS3 version (think VF4 Evolution) with other features to complement online play.)
Yeah, PS3 got jyped on the online play; the Xbox 360 version didn't come out for quite a while after the PS3 version.
In all honesty though, the online mode is ass.
When I had a Saturn I did enjoy the VF titles for it but I spent a hell of a lot more time on Fighter's Megamix so I'm not really sure how accurate my recollection of VF is. Anyway, my favorite character was probably Shun Di from VF. Dammit I wish I could find a decent Saturn emulator to see how well it aged.
akira is the only main charcter I have seen in a fighting game that's not user friendly
He's awesome tho
My favorite vf characters

edit nevermimd
Fuck that then.
I don't have either systems.
Two words.
"AAAAAAaaaUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!"
Okay one. And it's not a real word.
Back, Forward, Punch bizntches.
I played around with the demo of VF5. It's sort of fun, especially El Blaze but I'm not going to buy it. I think I had enough of it with VF4 - the game is just little too dry.
Lei Fei is probably my favourite.
In all honesty though, the online mode is ass.
Online played a heavy part in me considering giving VF another shot, but I dunno know. Is the lag atleast reasonable? Or is it something else you don't like about the online?

Sol Badguy isn't really "user friendly" anymore, either.
Older games, I played with Kage most of the time if for nothing else than his jumping head drop. With VF5 though, I ended up playing with Vanessa first and then Eileen. Use Eileen most of the time, now.
And about the 360's online part: From what I've heard, it can work flawlessly, but at the same time it can also lag really bad. But it seems to work more often than it doesn't.
Well, I'd imagine it depends on where you and you're opponent are playing from right?
So far, I've yet to read anything totally damning the online play.
It all depends on distance. These sort of games don't have the massive servers found on MMO's.
All Xbox online games are peer-to-peer. Which is fine and all as long as the player hosting the game doesn't have a sucky connection, and he has open NAT. No matter how brilliant is the net coding of a game, game developers can't go into houses of players and make their connection faster.
From little I have heard VF5's online is fine. But it's not something to buy 360 for.
