IS this common in Dubbed animes?
I have No idea what anime i just saw, but the subs and language were different
Dialouge:Go out there and cut them to bits(Just remembering as much as I can)
Subs: Go and crush them all
seems weird to me.than again maybe its not weird to other anime fans
Subs are typically more precise, while dubbing, since it's trying to establish a certain feel with the voice and language used, tends to take more liberties.
Sounds like Hellsing to me. Err, dubbed lines can be "different" from the subbed script, since the subs tend to me a bit more literal, but usually retain the same meaning.
Like AMAZING said, it can be different even if the subs are done by the same people who dub it. I have the Azumanga Daioh series on DVD but the subbings are different from the dub. But yeah - it is common.

You might have had a dual audio DVD.
They usually have an english and japanese sub setting.(One is the english script and the other is a more accurate translation)
but it's a combination of what Gohn and Roastbeef said. Some lines are tweaked to fit mouth movements, while other's are changed to fit the culture more.(Usually jokes and references)
For some reason this reminded me of the god awful heavy metal in the DBZ movies.

God damned I hate that.
I don't know in Anime, but usually when they dub/sub American movies to Japanese, sub always cuts down a lot of the translation (but still retain the general meaning somewhat), because they need to fit the dialog to the length people can usually read in certain time (3~4 charcters a second for Japanese). Dub is usually full translation.

The DVD I saw was at Anime Ages,A booth in the mall I live near.
