General Persona Thread

We talked about this before in this thread and if you reaaaaally want to, you can go back and find my and others posts, but basically

The classical consensus was that Persona 2: Innocent Sin was already one of the best games in the entire meta-franchise of the Megami * games when it came out. I personally feel it still holds up just as well today.

In fact, I consider Persona 2 Tsumi to be the best Persona game, with P4 a bit behind it.

Persona 1 is mediocre, to be frank, though there are a good amount of unimportant references to it in the P2 games I wholeheartdly recommend skipping that fucker

For the record, the second half of the Persona 2 miniseries, Persona 2: Batsu/Eternal Punishment, is great but not even close to how good the original Persona 2 is.

Persona 1 and 2 are more traditional JRPGs, by the way, with an emphasis on narrative and characters. Persona 2's is probably one of the best casts a Japanese RPG has ever had. There is no date/life sim elements at all.

If they cut out the social links and only use the important parts within the tower progression, like your encounter with strega, we might get a good paced movie out of it. They maybe able to fit in some core event regarding SEES members.
I don't expect them to be able to fit the content of The Answer in it. But that is an estimate on the more optimistic side.

P3 seems to be more fitting to have an anime like P4. It would probably work better since most of Persona 3 Social links are rather ignorable like the hierophant link, concentrating on the core story would probably result in a pretty strong anime.

Well in the P4 anime I think they handled the MC the best way and made him one of the best characters. So I think they can make him interesting.

That's good, since I'm coincidentally playing P3 for the first time and he's just plot device that is 90% window dressing during main plot points that is occasionally allowed to chime in with his own input. It's ok, since it comes with the territory with these sorts of games that make you the MC with only the amount and variety of dialogue choices having any real affect on the overall narrative. However, it'll be interesting if he's more involved in the main narrative in P4 without having most of the other SEES characters do all the talking, or at least have more dialogue interrupts like in the S.Link side relationships.

I also don't think most of the S. Links can really be worked into a movie outside of being cameo side characters. It would just derail the overall main plot which otherwise, if strung together from the game, could already fill into feature length as it is.

I know but why wait :D when I can get my fix earlier and learn something in the process. Edutainement is one of my favourite things to engage in because every hour you have fun becomes so much more meaningful.

I still think very fondly of Morrowind the game which thaught me a crapload of english. Not having to wait for localizations and being able to enjoy something in it's original form are two things I value.

Fandom being what it is, you'd think they'd be all over that if it were true. That would kinda contradict the gameplay, too.

I hated Revelations: Persona when I rented it over a decade ago. Never got very far.

I thought Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was okay when I bought it on a whim for $15 several years ago. Never got very far.

I received Persona 3 FES as a gift recently, and holy shit I can't stop playing it. Around sixty hours in.

Really, and there even are some hidden text that weren't translated. At some point we found a "This shouldn't happen. Tester, if you see that message report immediately." or something. :P
You can also see that the animated cutscenes are transcribed in text form… like this.

Still haven't received our copy of the game though. Getting restless.

Persona 4 Arena Home Version Story Mode Has 30 to 40 Hour Play Time

The home version of Persona 4 Arena has a story mode that details what happened after the events of Persona 4. It appears that this is a major part of the game, as director Kazuhisa Wada reveals in a recent post at the P4 Arena official blog that the play time for the story mode is 30 to 40 hours.
Wada noted that like the story modes in BlazBlue, which is also developed by Arc System Works, P4 Arena's story mode is not the usual "bonus-style feature" one normally expects of a fighting game. The story elements come from the Persona team and feature full voice.

Darn you hongkong post, still waiting for my copie of the golden it's currently under investegation where my package is.

In the meantime atlus got a little mini game out for persona the arena.

You get 3 tries everyday. In essence it's a slot machine you have to gain points by matching pairs and triplets for their respective characters.
Pairs are 2 points triplets 5 points. 10 unlock the respective wallpaper.

If you just want the wallpapers I think on gamefaqs is a thread where they unlocked most/all of them.

Ah it finally arrived after 6 weeks that was way to long... whatever at least if was really cheap.

Like I thought I love the dialog replay feature and lurking around the app during the waiting weeks paid off well.
I don't really have to look up anything for now but I expect that to change after the first dungeon.

So I was wondering since I'm using the app so extensively if there is anything useful I can do to improve it like tagging the textfiles for context (although I wouldn't be sure how to do that for the exposition textfiles). But like e630_010.msg -> Strength Arcana, Soccer Club. Only if that's something that could help.
