Working at the movie theater, I assembled a new movie standee yesterday. I've never heard of this movie prior, but the title and standee alone make this movie a must see for me!

The image on the right is the standee I assembled. Notice how it says, "Prepare for Awesomeness". It makes up words people! That wins on many levels!

Po the Panda will be voiced by Jack Black. Other characters will be voiced by Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Ian McShane, and Lucy Liu. (who's who is unspecified)

Storyline seems bland at the moment, but will more likely become more complex as release draws closer…

Release date is set for Summer 2008.

I for one am surprised that it took THIS long to for a panda to star in an animated movie. With South Park's infamous "Sexual Harrassment Panda" spawning the catchphrase "That makes me a sad panda.", we were all waiting for it. Also, with Chinese martial arts being a popular subject for comedies (3 Ninjas, Next Karate Kid, Rush Hour, Balls of Fury, etc.), it's about time an animated one was made. I'm looking forward to this movie, as I believe it will be one of the funniest movies of 2008.

au contraire to what i usualy think about these CGI flicks ive taken an instant liking to this, the whole kung fu panda thing just strikes a chord with me.

and im actualy liking the whole casting so far, Hoffman is awesome in anything he does and honestly fuck anybody hating on Jackie chan, the mans actualy taking steps towards being more than a 80% stuntman 20% actor in fighting flicks kudos to him.

Chan didn't voice his role in the animated program. He only did the live-action bits.

Jackie Chan is a really 'nice guy' and besides making a drunken ass of himself on stage in front of millions of people from time to time he's a pretty cool dude.

His old HK movies were incredible. Drunken Master 2 is easily the coolest kung fu film I have ever seen and probably ever will see, especially with the uncut ending. The shit he's done is nothing short of amazing.

And then he came to Hollywood.

I get chuckles out of Rush Hour films because, yes, Chan + Tucker = Fucking Retarded and it strikes my funny bone especially when Tucker adlibs. But each sequel is essentially the same with a different number. Same with Wilson. Wilson's adlips are amazing but the films are pure B-movie material.

My greatest hope was his latest Supercop film, another sequel to his un-fucking-believeable-if-you-haven't-seen-it-rent-that-bitch-this-instant Super Cop 3 and boy was I let down.

Chan really hasn't done anything since then that I can even consider worth watching for the stunts let alone the movie itself. It's a sin because he was an AMAZING acrobat but instead of just letting go, he keeps working that line and….there's no much there anymore.

He's a cool guy but he doesn't have it anymore.

That said, it should have no impact whatsoever in his role as a CG whatever.

Though Wiki and IMDB try to say it's all Jackie.

The fact that it's Dreamworks theoretically shows promise. But the fact that it's JACK BLACK… well I think it looks TERRIBLE, words really can't describe. Needless to say, there's no way I'm going to see this. I really didn't think anything could be worse then another Shrek sequel.

As far as I'm concerned Pixar makes the only real good CG stuff. Oh also, Dreamworks was a lot better with 2-D animation. Road to El Dorado is one of the best animated films I've seen in recent years.

Oh yeah, this pile also reminds me of a movie I rented a little while back called "Karate Dog." We were looking for something bad and cheesy to laugh at and washed-up Chevy Chase was the title character. It wasn't even worth making fun of, I fell asleep. Even promises of Pat Morita weren't enough to save it from being extremely horrible. You know when something is so bad it's funny? This was so bad it's not funny at all, even if you were drunk. Hell, if you were high, I'm sure you'd claw your eyes out. Ugh.

Anyway, I can safely assume that "Kung Fu Panda" and "Karate Dog" will share many similarities.
