The Franky Dub Discussion

When people complain about the Funimation Dub, I would like to remind them of one thing: Poison Suction Cups!

But enough of that, the real reason I want to do this board is to discuss…Franky.

Yes, we all know that lovable, blue-haired cyborg with the inflatable butt.
Even though it's a long way off, Unlimited Adventure is coming soon and predictions must be made, regardless of how wrong they are.

Kazuki "SUPA!!!!!!!" Yao has a superb voice that has range, tener and everything going for it. However, if history has taught us anything before, it's his voice is nearly impossible to imitate. (4kids' anyone?)

But if there are two voice actors that could pull it off, there's Skip Stellrecht, Maito Gai's dub. He can pull off humor, sorrow and sound cool. Plus, I would love for him to say "STRONG HAMMER!"
If Skip cannot perform, then I nominate Richard Epcar, the VA for Bobobo, Don Kanonji, and Zangetsu.

But, I have no idea who's available for Funimation, so…you tell me. Tell me any nominations you have for Franky and support it.

One thing that makes Franky different from the other Strawhats is that he will be the first one that does not have a 4Kids voice. So the only other voice for Franky that we will have to compare is the Japanese VA. I think that this makes the casting of Franky a bit different. I am looking forward to hearing who has gotten him.

Also any other new Strawhats will not have 4Kids VAs so there will the Japanese VA and the Funimation English Va to compare.

I still want Steven Jay Blum to do it. It's not going to happen though. Which makes me sad, because I think he's a perfect fit.

Someone said John DiMaggio should voice Franky. He'd be funny, but I can't see him "getting" the character.

My bet will go on Phil Parsons. Think Nappa from DBZ except with some silliness.

Surfer accent or no surfer accent.

I'm personally hoping for an accent. But a proper surfer accent, not the chronic stoner accent that gets passed off as a surfer accent.

Hopefully Jim Carrey will voice Franky, and give him an "Ace Ventura" voice~

But I have a feeling that Funi might pull something lame, and give him the same voice as Cell =/
