Im curious, cause ive caught on when AT Enies Lobby,so I couldnt possibly "IMAGINE"w aht it would look like, cause I was staring at it.
How did you Imagine Enies Lobby would look like?
-
-
Like a crazy mix of Azkaban and the Château d'If.
-
I think Mantisk's description is very striking xD
BTW - I just thought a maybe crazy thought. Is Enies Lobby named after a person called Enie? And will we meet this ''Enie''?
-
huh reminds me of some guy that wrote "ERnies Lobby" and someone replied posting a picture of Ernie from sesame street, saying "Ernies Lobby?I wonder if it has his ruber ducky?".
But the name was always a mystery to me.A "lobby" isnt something like that isnt it?
And Enies? It isnt Enie's ,nor Enies',so It way be just a name, but GOT (yes, with a T) knows whats it from.Impel Down I undertans, but this?Though I have similar names in my works as well, meaning withot meaning as well. (Vine Station is a good example). -
Like, a bunch of piers and shit…..like a giant floating boat.......that doesn't move, like, the opposite of THriller Bark basically.

(Vine Station is a good example). It's a corruption of Aeneas, the Roman mythical hero who was the son of Venus and was the father of Romulus and Remus.
But really, I pictured it like a jail (not a prison like Impel Down), with Criminals chained up and detained for transfer to a prison, and the Courthouse being a huge building (like it was), but with a closed bridge transport to a citadel (prison). And because of the perpetual light, I pictured a dome overhead with huge lights, and at the end of the arc, Luffy would shatter the light.
-
And what does Aeneas have to do with Enies Lobby ?
-
And what does Aeneas have to do with Enies Lobby ?
I just read about Aeneas in a lexicon. There stood he flew from Troja what had to be totally impossible. So the island no criminal can ever escape from is named after a person who managed an impossible escape.
-
Screw talking about a place we already know, lets talk about what Impel Down looks like!
-
Lobby… isnt that the same as entrance hall, vestibule, waitingroom?
meaning Eniens Lobby is the hallway to Impel Down.
Edit: hmm, think i read Lobolovers post wrong. thought he was asking about the meaning of lobby =P
-
To Mantisk:
Ironic isnt it?
-
-
Did anyone ever figure out what ENIES meant? Or did Oda just make that up?
-
sealab 16 characters

@Really:

Aaaand once again, for the dyslexic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeneas

I hadn't seen any scanlations when I started reading Stephen's scripts to get up-to-date on the series, so, when I heard them mention a waterfall, I thought that it was an island with a large hole in the centre and several rivers running through it, kind of the opposite of what it actually looks like. When the drawbridge in the courthouse came up, I thought they needed it to cross one of these rivers.
-
A lobby.
16 waiting rooms.
-
I foresaw a pyramid . :/
-
A golden temple filled with crazy chainsaw juggling clowns
-
This is probably the dumbest answer imaginable, but my mental picture of Enies Lobby before seeing it is something like this:
Yep. The Crystal Cathedral.
It would have been more interesting that way, no?
-
I can actually see that, Roz. I kind of pictured the actual jail tower as being something impossibly high (and it was), but I pictured… you know, criminals being locked up there awaiting transport instead of personal rooms for all the CP9 members.
-
I thought it would've been an underwater train station/courthouse that lead to Marine HQ and Impel Down.
-
I tought it was going to be some elegant building where elegant marines/wg officers would be staying after bringing down criminals to the hands of Blind Justice….
Anyways, I'm actually dissapointed that we never saw anything of the staff (besides the officers and CP9). You know, it would have been great to see the woman that rejected Jyabura...

Oda drew her in an SBS. She's hideous.

Auschwitz
16 Trenches full of pirate jews

They had her in the anime as well I think.
Enies Lobby was pictured as a large Alcatraz in my mind. -
I dunno…Shawshank Penetentiary I suppose.
I like to think that the last thing that went through Spandam's mind- other than that Strong Right, that is- was just how the Hell Cutty Flam ever got the best of him.

He was probably thinking "I hope I get this month's paycheck." or better yet "I hope my insurance covers all this."

I keep hearing Dub Piece Spandam saying those lines whilst blowing his brains out. Morbidly funny and waay off topic.
-
I use to thought Enies Lobby was going to be a mediveil castle or a romanesque castle.
However before Enies Lobby, people were expecting a ball to take place there. Funny.
-
I didn't. I saw the place before I even thought about it… I usually don't visualize what things are going to look like, like characters or places.

Are you trying to tell me in ten years of One Piece, you never thought of how Jimbei would look like?
-

Nope. Atleast not in the way Oda might draw him. I assume him to look like a whaleshark drawn by Oda, but i have no idea what that might look like.
-
Before I saw it, and had actually heard about it, I thought the crew fought in like, a giant lobby to a hotel or something. >_<
