Personally, a dub of the movies (which I've yet to see) would probably be good. People can make good live action dubs, they just usually don't put the time and effort into it. I'd imagine Viz would tho.

So, in more dub-related matters, I noticed that the dub DID in fact leave opening 2 completely intact. Though, looking at the REAL lyrics for that song, it makes sense. The lyrics don't actually SAY "Ningen fucker", it's just the fansubbers who (understandably) thought it sounded like that. That song is one of the songs that make me think "Man, I feel sorry for the fansubbers who have to transcribe this thing just by listening to it."

- Is the novel about L's past cannon?
2)Are there any differences between the japanese "How to read 13" and the english?
3)Whats the best place to read death note? where I read it is great but I noticed they dont have all the "how to read" places that come after a chapter reveals something important about the death note. Like when Misa tells Light she dosent need to see a persons entire face to get there name.

No, they translated the lyrics word for word. "人間不安か" (Ningen fuan ka - People, are you worried?) and "人間賛歌"/"人間傘下" (Ningen sanka - "A hymn to humanity"/Ningen sanka - "Subservient people.") The full version has "SUXXX" and "FUXXX" being said at the very very end (via the lyrics sheet,) so, apparently, their slurring of the phrases were intentional. Of course, the whole song is basically yelling, but you get my drift.

That's not what they were saying in the first place.

No need to edit out a curse that isn't there. The actual words were "HEY HEY! Ningen sanka, Ai nige ningen fuankan".
EDIT: Okay, after torturing myself by checking the full version, I take that back. The cursing-part WAS the part that they used in the TV-size version. But seeing how the pronounciation was practically identical, for all I know, translating the other part might have been a mistake on Viz's part, just like how in the third Naruto-ending, they used the same subtitles for the chorus each time, despite the lyrics being completely different the third time it came up.

Not me. Live action should NEVER be dubbed. Ever. It looks downright awful, as you can clearly see that the voices don't match their mouths. If they release them on DVD with the original japanese voices intact, I might consider buying them, but I'm not quite sure, as I heard the movies weren't really all that great.
The movies were was not as good as the anime in fact it was pretty bad in my opinion and Ryuks 3d model was done badly watched the movie 3 times to formulate a decent opinion of it . It just be worse if it was dubbed and yeah you are right Anime and dubs can work but live action ? thats a huge no no .

Just listening to a Death Note review on NPR: seems positive but a couple interesting comments and screw-ups. (they end up calling Mello & Near L's "sidekicks") They even compare the anime to "Lost"…maybe potato chip eating is more addictive than people realize.
