I understand some of the jokes (like the "nan-da", "umai/umee", and "kurowa-san" stuff) but there are a few culturally specific jokes that go straight over my head.
Thankfully AnimeEmpire fansubs has those handy little drop-down menus. :D
Meh.. it doesn't really get good until the France Tournament.. i swear i love the baldness!
I just love all the reactions. It's so exaggerated. I mean it's just bread…right?
I also love the second ending, does anyone know where to get it?
Is this show only going to be 47/48 episodes? It's just what I've been hearing… I wonder were they'd end the series off
Probably right after the Monaco tournament or something. I love YakiPan. It's hilarious, although sometimes very silly. The puns are somewhat forced though, there's only so much one can take in an episode. ^^
Aie, Kuroyan. The biggest dork since Ishida Uryuu.
Ah, I love this series! The part where he first convinves his grandpa to eat bread was so funny. xD
i just finished ep 20, it really goes nowhere.
oh, so you all say that there will be a lot of contests, that's so cool!!!
and yes the 2nd ending rocks, miss white day, do you want the song or the avi of the ending?
I love Ja-Pan!!!! This show seriously rocks, I even own a few volumes of the manga. Not many of my friends are too into anime, but I've got several addicted to this show. I love the reactions to tasting the different breads. The grandpa's Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pan!!! Kuroyanagi's trip to the moon as well as his Gamara are some of my favorite moments. Every episode has me cracking up at some point. I don't know what else to say about this one except that you all should go watch it, unless of course you're into serious stuff, then you should definatly stay far, far away.
BUMP
Another Manga/Anime that proves that my original assertion about Slayers being the funniest series out there was wrong.
I saw the first 4 episodes, it was great (really wanted to eat that volcano Ja-pan). btw, how does curry taste like (I'm afraid I never ate it before)
Curry is amazing.
And this show is amazing. I want some bread!

WHOA!!
MEELLLLLOOOOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It just goes to prove: they can make shonen out of ANYTHING.
Curry is generally spicy (depending on type, between mildly and extremely spicy), and can consist of meat, vegetables, or both. It's generally stewed.
The bread that the Mount Fuji bread is like is generally about 4mm thick, has a puffy-chewy texture, and random blackened bits as part of the cooking process.

Yakitate Japan is a shounen parody though.
Also this topic seems to be a little too old for bumping.
Nah, people looking for anime to watch might stop by this.
I sure as hell would be lured by "ANIME ABOUT KID PRODIGY MAKING BREAD."

Well, this is what made me watch Yakitate in the first place. I saw a few lines about it in the net that said "anime about making bread" and went wtf, they'll make anime about anything. Have to see that one!
I liked the beginning part more than the rest of the series myself. IMO, the action just wasn't all that fun when they went to Monaco and onwards. Seeing Azuma's different funky creations at the start was very hilarious, though.
Anime club at my school showed this a few years ago, they only got up to the end of the Monaco cup. I really liked it, it also made me really hungry after every episode.
Never read much of the manga, only the first 3 or so volumes.
Also it wasd funny to find out what the world would be like if Rock Lee was a baker :p.
