was about to post this in the other thread but its closed.. but the sky arc reminds me of the theory of how ancient religion ties into that of extraterrestrial visitation / genetic manipulation.. the theory that they came looking for gold (especially in the aztec region), using people to mine it. these ETs becoming the mythological angels and gods that tie into all of the major religions.

You know, since Enel's cover story revealed the Jayans/Skypians to be a cilization from outer space, I thought about that, too. When I was young, I had a book about supernatural and extra-terrestrial theories, and there was a picture from an old Mayan pyramid. I searched a little bit and found the picture:
As I said, this picture was found on a wall in an ancient Mayan pyramid, and the archaelogist said that the picture was showing a Mayan astronaut, the entity around him had to be a rocket. I don't recall the full article anymore, but years later, other archaelogists revealed the rocket to be a mere corn cob.
The topic was taken up in the anime series "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" (by the way, I loved it) from the early 80s (it was aired approximately ten years later in Germany, if I remember correctly).
The whole topic hasn't anything to to with One Piece anymore, but check it out (series and the Maya theory), it's pretty interesting, although it's just fiction by archaelogists.
