I suggest a Member Read-Only thread that Mods update whenever someone is banned and why.
Starting with DeadJustice.
But seriously, bans come completely out of blue. Like Gohn's old ban for instance, and half the members are sort of just left hanging like "Um, why is he banned?".
members get banned for being bad. you can always ask them. why make a whole thread about it though. it seems kind of mean spirited.
"hey did you hear. I heard ocean got banned for posting henti. he's such a looser…such and such" ya. I don't think we need a public forum for this . I can just see it being poo pooed all over.
maybe if you ask, someone might tell you. if they feel it's your buisness to know. other than that all you need to know is that they were banned for being bad boys and girls.

Umm..I might be mistaken, but I believe either Taboo or CosmicDebris mentioned that Deadjustice requested to be banned. It's happened before.
I think it's a good idea, and people won't get to post in it because it'll be "read-only." It'd be a nice way to keep people from posting asking "why did such-and-such get banned?"
Yeah I like the idea too. It seems that Deadjustice got banned out of the blue.

And it won't be rude, they're not going to say "Cap'n Carter was banned for being a douche," they're going to say "Smellyfeet was banned for: trolling, inappropriate conduct, etc."
The former is much more entertaining though.

I know Ness requested the ban, but if Cosmic didn't say so we would never know why it happened to him. I mean, Ness wasn't a bad person.

What throws everybody off is that failed mutineer rank. There should be a special rank for people who request a ban. Something like "Lost at sea".

So while stating the banning reason, it would have to mention "hung for" before it, like "hung for tomfoolery."
It all seems kind of pointless. Might be better if members were banned every once a couple of days to keep the thread relevant…
This reminds me that I actually used to go to a forum that had a whole subforum dedicated to member offenses (viewable to all members). Not sure if that's a common thing or not though.

I know you won't see this post because I'm mean or whatever, but it isn't really likely you'll "go quielty" when there's a giant dash through your name and a "FAILED MUTINEEER" rank under your name

Well that's the thing. You can't always figure it out like that.
Offending posts could be deleted quickly
There's members like DeadJustice who actually request bans (and there's thus nothing really "incriminating" in their recent history), and it throws everyone off track because some harmless guy's gotten banned.
btw, I don't really care one way or the other about this matter. I'm just bored and feel like playing Devil's Advocate when I see something I feel like explaining.

I don't think we, the staff, have to divulge anything or have to answer to anyone in terms of bannings, nor should we have to. If it is a a large contentious point, where people are asking questions, then sure, we'll usually fill you in, as we've done in the past. (though usually you can connect the dots to the reasons why)
But as far as a thread keeping tabs on our bannings, I'd say a resounding no. Plus, the vast majority of bannings aren't anything you couldn't find out for yourself with a quick post history search, as omae said before.
In terms of requested bannings, in hindsight there are probably better ways to handle those. A seperate usergroup perhaps, so it doesn't raise so many questions. I'm sure DeadJustice will have right ol' chuckle at all this fuss, when he returns.
