I'm just curious if anyone knows. I can't get the manga or anime to work on my computer, so Viz is my only hope to read One Piece. Does anyone know if they plan to start releasing it monthly. Because Volume 7 comes out in July (if I'm not mistaken) and the Japanese graphic novels are moving onto Volume 38. It just makes sense so that Viz America will match up with the Japanese version, seeing as One Piece isn't dying anytime soon and it would take about 3 years to catch up to 38 monthly in the first place.

No. Monthly titles usually are titles that sell well, or are exceptional (in their eyes). As much sense as it would make, it's still running in Jump, and will stay there until there's an announcement that says otherwise.
-
Okay. Thanks. I was just checking, because of the merger of Viz and ShoPro I wasn't sure if it was announced on the website and I missed something. You get what I mean, though?
-
The only monthly manga that Viz does now, that I can think of, is Ruouni Kenshin. Not that I blame them one bit.
-
Its impossible for you to not be able to view the manga AND somehow post on a forum.
Go to the Groups msn site if your problem is downloading.

This is virtually true. Unless you don't care about accidentally or purposely reading spoilers.
You should be able to read the MSN group manga scans with no problem. They're just image files, you don't need to download them.
-
Not the best quality, but they'll do fine.

Well, Vagabond was monthly. Last year, around volume 22, Inoue decided to take a huge break. Viz is currently at volume 20, so they'll have to stop monthly releases.
Knights of the Zodiac may also be monthly, but I'm not very sure.

My entry:
Who cares? I just got OP volume 3 and Jojo vol 1 from Sasuga today, so I'm happy.
-
um ive been wondering this myself, i doubt it, but they might do something like take it out of sj in v.12 and start calling it One Piece: Grand line or something like that. like yugioh duelist

yugioh duelist is monthly what else???

I'm very confused.
How often does Shonen Jump come out in Japan? In America?
Are Weekly Jump or Monthly Jump affiliated with Shonen Jump?
-
Weekly Shonen jump comes out….
Monthly Shonen jump comes out.....
American Shonen jump comes out monthly....
The american SJ....consider it a buisness extension overseas that was put into viz's incapable hands.
If you mean GN releases,
Japan:4-5 a year
American: 3 a year. -
Yeah.
When we say WSJ, we mean the Japanese one, which is weekly and contains the latest shonen titles.
Young Jump, V-Jump, and things like that are also Japanese. Some are bi-weekly, some are monthly. They contain different titles.
"Shonen Jump," or ASJ, is monthly and comes out here. It's the Viz compilation of a few popular titles.
-
Since Japan is getting five volumes a year and we only get three, by the time One Piece ends in Japan, the Western world will have to wait another 4-8 years for the final volume.
-
No we won't. That's what translations are for.

Why not? Don't know how to use Bittorrent? A complete neophyte to computer usage and don't know anything about compressed archives or imageviewers, along with codecs and something like BSPlayer to watch the anime? Seriously, I don't mean any insult; it would just suck if I were a fan and didn't know how to do these things, and then felt I had to actually wait for the American releases. That'd just suck :D.
You should think about letting someone help you out with this, because I don't see any reason why you'd be able to get a browser to work and not other stuff (meaning it shouldn't be any deficiency, but again, a problem of you not knowing how to do this stuff).
Quaint.
-
Bittorent?
I don't get that mumbo Jumbo either. Which even FURTHERS the point of manga being easy to obtain. -

That's not the only reason somebody can't view the anime.
His situation may be like mine; I'm limited to dialup because cable ends about a half mile on either side of my house, DSL is not currently available here, and switching to satellite would be about five times as expensive.
So downloading a 250MB television episode is not an option.
On the other hand, I don't have the slightest idea why he can't read the manga, unless he's only has access to the internet through a computer where he isn't allowed to download programs of any type.

And yet theres still the Groups msn site.
The man can get his manga.
(its better than the anime anyway MTF, your getting the better deal) -
My take on the whole monthly deal?
Not unless American Shonen Jump dies. As long as we get two-three chapters a month, it won't happen. They won't want to jeopardize sales for ASJ, right?
I really don't care at this point. I'm saving up to buy the tanks and, thanks to my sister, I've already got about $50 of what I need. I'll probably still buy the Viz releases, Zolo or no.
-
They only way I could see One Piece becoming Monthly is if our Jump becomes weekly or bi-weekly.
-
Lets sent letters to Viz to encourage them to realase the Manga two times a month.

I agree. Yes, I know I can download it, but I prefer to read manga in graphic novel form rather than having to sit in front of a computer every time I want to read it. Even if Viz makes pointless changes.
I heard some rumours that Jump might be released weekly, which I personaly hope they do so they'll start to catch up with Japan at a faster rater.

^
Buy tankobans then. -
I can't read Japanese.
-
….
I just like being able to pick up a book and reading it without having to take Japanese lessons or refere to a trasnlation guide every other second. What's wrong with that? Yes, Viz is going down hill (a shame), but I do still enjoy collecting the books.
-
Wow, releasing it weekly is… a hell... But I guess it'll be okay if there is one translator and editor assigned specifically to the series. But then that'd be kind of inefficient.

**Iv'e been slowly and surely copying down (more or less) Stephens scripts onto the tanks.
Sounds nuts, I know, but now I can pick up Vol.s 7,8,9 and 10 off the shelf and read them in english.
Who else can say that ;) -

That is dedication, right there. Rawk.

What if the Person don"t have an Computer to read Stephen's Translation for Tanks users?
-
They won't be probably exposed to Japanese manga… and probably they won't know whether VIZ's translation is accurate or not... So they're happy with VIZ ^^

Who else can say that ;)I'm not 100% sure what exactly you mean by that. Are you saying you've written the translations onto the books?
Fair enough. But I'm happy reading it the way I want, even if Viz makes pointless changes (I've voiced my opinion about them in "The Edits of Viz" if your interested). Truth be told, as much as I want to see the later parts of the story and don't really want to be collecting them in ten years time, I do slightly enjoy the wait between each book. Don't ask me why. I just do.
"To each their own" as I like to say.

I write it around the kanji or whatever..
It can be a bitch, and it takes time…But as I said. I can read books in english that nobody else can...

Fair enough. I personaly couldn't do that as I like to try and keep the books in as good a condition as possible.

Were did you herd that?_I'm not 100% sure actually now that I think about it. Maybe I mis-read something…
