Pizza Hut Partnership with Gainax~

Praising FLCL and condeming Eva somehow doesn't compute. They go hand in hand as psychosexual explorations into the transition from child to teenager to adult. They all have their equally boring and monotonous emo threads and pretentious symbolism that's enough to make they most thick-headed philistine vomit.

The only difference between the two with that respect is that one is concise and spastic while one is drawn-out and deals with more realistic aspects of the human 'drama'.

If anything FLCL is more symbol-laden than Eva, so much so that it loses the original idea on the audience and becomes little more than a romp through sexual awakenings without many people even realizing it as they're watching whereas Eva is CLEARLY open about its underlying expressions.

At the end of the day both series are both fucking annoying for their bullshit themes that are really only half as clever as the writers think they are. And I say that as a fan of both series.

The psychological stuff isn't what bothers me. FLCL was a lot of fun to watch, while I found Eva to be a snorefest.

I thought it would be no different than in a live action movie, cause it just seems natural, but I found a big pizza hut logo in the anime I'm trying to watch, a bit of a distraction. I actually had to go back to read the subtitles, cause I ended up focusing on the logo.

Yeesh, I don't usually mind product placement all that much on TV, but a some of those seem quite a bit intrusive and even have the Pizza Hut logo on the center of the screen. Its only a matter of time before its plugged into the script.

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!
FLCL is so much shorter and less concerned with making sense that it's kinda unfair to compare it to eva. They really seem like different versions of the same idea tho. And not every anime has to be mindless fun ot watch. I enjoyed both shows for totally different reasons but like I said, Gainax has yet to break into my GREATEST of all time list.
