Mwahaha close if not right on the money on that one. It's not that hard to deduce per se. Still I look forward to it. There is no other anime I see that knows how to dish the suspense.
Kaiji

Here's something I made for you Baccano! fans.

omg i need ep 22 NOW. i hope the manga raw i'm downloading will end before i go to bed~
SiE6KhlM0Ro
HELLS YEAH! -
Just finished watching Kaiji 22-
! OK WTF did Kaiji up with now? He steps on an empty and gets an idea- WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ABOUT?!?!
BTW Tonegawa having to bow to Kaiji like that was fucking insane seriously, take about humility!EDIT: RUMORS ARE OUT THAT THERE MIGHT BE ANOTHER SEASON FOR KAIJI! Reason for this is that AnimeNewsNetwork has only info on the titles of 25 eps. Either this means that there might be more or that the series ends at 25 eps.
-
I certainly hope thats going to be the case. This show is too good to let go after just this many eps. I would watch every single one even if it wasn't as good as up to now.
-
If they do continue it, I really hope they don't prolong the gambles; seriously 10 eps. on 1 gamble is pretty dull when the only thing that happens in 1 ep. is an analysis of human psychology.
-
could someone explain to me why i downloaded 11 volumes of kaji which are full of mahjong? the torrent is called "kaiji part 3", is the manga super long and divided in several parts with one about mahjong?
-
^Yup that's apparently the case…and thanks for spoiling that for me since apparently the later series are more of Kaiji Mahjong-ing his way to darkness :p

I haven't edited Wikipedia because I don't want this spoiled yet, buuuuut.
! Kaiji is divided into three series, Part I, Part II, Part III. The anime covers Part I, you're reading Part III, the newest. It basically starts off with Kazutaka inviting Kaiji over to finish off his debt once and for all and they place "17 Steps Minefield Mahjong". It's not like a normal mahjong game, it's heavily abridged and simple just like the previous gambles in the story, but it still incorporates the basic mahjong rules so you might not get what's going on if you don't know them.
-
ok thanks and sorry about the spoilers, guy. it's raw manga anyway so i'm not gonna read it.
-
We still have the tissue-box raffle to go in this season, right? I can't imagine the production staff stuffing it within a few episodes, though.
…oh god do I ever want some more Kaiji episodes
Kaiji's hopeless "normal" life
only happy when he's drunk )':
flailing about on the ground
more suffering, more crying, more emotional and possibly physical traumaand it would also mean the introduction of some new characters (one is an honest-to-god female and the other is "the prettiest Fukumoto character ever", however unlikely as that sounds)
-
We will get Tissue Box Raffle because it's not a long gamble and Series II starts with a time-skip.
-
Episode 22 was subbed. Haven't watched it yet, though.
-
watched it,
wow the old man is so evil -
Saw it last night, Tonegawa is my homeboy.
Looking forward to the Tissue Box Raffle, makes for a nice end to the series.
-
Yeah Tonegawa was da man, that old fucker had better get it in this last gamble.
-
i hope kaiji will win, seriously. or i will get really mad, now that he is finally cool…
-
lol ep 23
! Kaiji: This box is awesome.
-
That whole first part was hilarious as heck.
-
Ah subbed already good gonna go get it :D
-
As awesome that box is, how will it help him in Ep. 24 which is now subbed?
Bah I
l'll wait for 25 then watch them both together XD. -
Kaiji 24 was basically Kaiji putting up an act to seem less conspicuous, nothing actually happened! This better be a short gamburu (yes, I have sound again!! :D) or the show's gonna end of a cliffhanger!
-
OZbPjcXWQDY
Awesome.
-
^Ep. 25 finale/conclusion?
-
No. It's comedy gold.
-
I ripped these from Cromartie High School.
-
So a 2nd season was announced after ep 26. No dates though.

HOLY LIVE ACTION MOVIE RELEASE, BATMAN!
http://www.kaiji-movie.jp/ -
Here I thought you were going to mention the rebroadcast and I would have to apologize by saying "no, it's not season 2, Osamu just got ahead of himself and posted on assumption".
This is quite the pleasant surprise!
-
The trailer seemed pretty promising. I think the movie version has potential.
Except for one thing.
The guy playing Kaiji is too cute.
-
The guy playing Kaiji is too cute.
It's Tatsuya Fujiwara.
I remember him playing Shuya in Battle Royale
-
The guy playing Kaiji is too cute.
I think I saw what you did there.
…but I'm fine with the choice for Kaiji's actor. -
He actually looks like Kaiji, so I think that part (and the crying) are down pat.
What I'm bugged about is Endou became a woman. Tonegawa's not stocky, but that's fine since he's just as imposing.
Where's Hyoudou?
…
Also, Funai bears a STRONG resemblance to Fukumoto himself. :V

Wait theres NOT gonna be a season 2????
Damnit T_T

I think Fukumoto said Season 2 will air in about 1 or 2 years time -
When the fudge is Akagi season 2 coming out?-_-
-
Um…never? :/
Akagi's story is more or less complete by the end of the anime. Any continuation would have to be told through Ten, which is another series in its own right.
-
Not only that, I think Akagi is still stuck at Washizu's place in the manga.
Speaking of which, does anyone think else they're going to try to compress the "Minefield Mahjong" from the 3rd part of the manga into Kaiji's 2nd season?

The heck, I wanna see the end of the Washizu arc animated

Eh? Kaiji has mahjong in it? Heh, I've only seen up to the end of the first arc (Espoir arc).
-
Its a very unorthodox game of mahjong but its quite amusing since Kaiji does his best Akagi and Washizu impersonations.
Edit: The problem is that this one game took up all of Part 3 of the manga (13 volumes!) and Part 4 is suppose to start again this year.
Kaiji basically has enough for material for a lengthy 2nd season but maybe not enough to devote another season on one game. -
Minefield Mahjong is basically Hyoudou and Kaiji taking half of a complete mahjong set's tiles and making a hand out of any combination of tiles, then discarding the rest until someone can make a Ron.
It's a very limited form of mahjong and only really incorporates the han and scoring, but is an interesting game in its own right because there's still room for predictability.
-
good shit…i learned a lot from this anime...but the first arc was the best....
-
I wish the second season would start myself…:(
-
i heard a anime called "One Outs" is sort of like Kaiji/Akagi
-
It focuses on baseball, and is good in its own way. I actually rated One Outs as a Masterpiece despite liking Fukumoto's work a lot more, because it was consistent with its themes.
A highly recommended series.

sorry for reviving this thread from the ashes but is anyone else reading the volumes being scanned by zawanons? http://www.mediafire.com/zawanons
