Aren't PSPs small? LOL, how'd it bust your toe open?
Do PSPs run cartridges or CDs? Do they play the PSX library or new games entirely? I haven't been keeping up on consoles since PSX but I saw a PSP the other day and it looked neat.

Neither, the PSP uses the UMD. (PSP specific format)
Do they play the PSX library or new games entirely?
Both. With hacked firmware you can play a large majority of PSone ISOs (Plus a wide variety of emulators) on your PSP. Alternatively, you can buy PSone "classics" from the Playstation store via a PS3 & play them on you PSP. <_<
