-

-
I have been anxious for this game for the past three months. Normally I'm not even that big a FPS fan but this game has caught my attention and I can not wait to start my own safari for the elusive Biggous Daddieous (big daddy).
(…man that joke is lame :getlost:)
-
Finally a new Shock game.I've been waiting for it since it was mentioned back in 2005?. I wonder if it can live up to all the hype and it's spiritual predecessors that count among the best games ever on my list. I have to stuy though so it's good thing my PC isn't good enough yet or i'd fail again
-
At first i thought this is just another linear fps game. After seeing all those trailers and awesome gameplay vids, i just knew it´ s gonna be big.
-
Sorry for the double post but i wanted to make sure that you would notice
THIS!! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23435.htmlA demo of Bioshock is also available for download on XBL as we speak.
-
I need to get Xbox Live NOW!
-
Downloaded it, played it…
GREATEST DEMO EVER!:w00t::w00t::w00t:
Just enough to sate your apatite and not give away too much of the story.
If you own a 360 and your a FPS fan (or not. Like me) you owe it your self to DL this. NOW! -
Some review scores i found from wikipedia:
BioShock received a 10 out of 10 from Official Xbox Magazine UK, citing reasons such as an "inconceivably great plot" and "stunning soundtrack and audio effects". [24]
PC Gamer UK gave the game 95%, saying that it completes the 'challenges developers have been struggling to master for decades: narrative, emergence, a sense of place'. Tom Francis, the reviewer also stated "I spend my career, and my gaming life, waiting for a moment when a game just astonishes me, when I can't believe what I'm seeing, what I'm doing. BioShock has five."
PC Zone gave the game 96%, commenting on the game's captivating and well-told story, movie quality voice-acting and the atmospheric soundtrack. BioShock also received the PC Zone 'Classic' award, awarded only to games of outstanding quality. As a comparison the highest scoring game in the magazine, Half-Life 2 was reviewed at 97%.
In a video recording from 1UP, their "unofficial review" was released. The reviewer, who played the game on the Xbox 360, claims that the game is an "absolute showpiece", further stating that its visuals are some of the best on the system. He went on to predict that the game will eliminate any existing competition (Mass Effect and Halo 3 were mentioned) and become the 2007 Game of the Year, and assured fans that the gunplay is equally as phenomenal as the rest of the game. -
I will have to admit that I never played a System Shock game myself. I know, shame on me. But, never the less, unsurprisingly BioShock has been looking p-r-e-t-t-y good so far. I will probably pick it up once I buy a Xbox 360.
Edit: So, basicly, most reviews says that BioShock is clear Game of the Year material? Great news.

No shame in that Yoska, since i'm probably the only one in this thread that played both SS's (when they cam out even ), i feel kind weird
-
Yeah, but both games are still labeled as quite big classics… and they ain't that ancient, you old fart. They are only from the last millenium.

i'm like one year older than you
-
The demo is un-freakin-believable.
I might have to drop some coin on this today. Plus, EB actually have a pretty attractive pre-order deal going on this.
-
I watched the demo it looks like a good game, but just not for me… Those Splicers(SP?) are insane! They way they talk there is like no sanity left... And what that Big Daddy did to that guy...wow just wow...
-
Played the Demo.
All I have to say is, AMAZING. It was an awesome demo. The whole thing, especially the beginning, feels movie-like. Almost as if they KNEW what you'd do if something happened. Like the entering into the lighthouse. Amazing psychological effect. Door creaks and slams behind you, you turn around, the lights turn on, and a quote is left in front of you when you turn back around.
The ending got a little tough on Medium difficulty, mostly because I couldn't figure out exactly what was up with the security cams and also because I can't for the life of me figure out the hacking minigame, so I just kept buying it off.
It only leaves me curious about 1 thing: Is there any "safe" spot I can go to that will serve as a place to go to? I mean, Atlas obviously is still alive and well and unmutated.

Sweetness! Thanks Maj.

If none of you are busy, go to your local Toys 'R' Us or call them to see if they're selling Bioshock.
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/15/some-toys-r-us-stores-selling-bioshock-early/
By the way, it's freakin 30$. But it might have all been taken down or something by now.
-
Wow so it was true. O_O
Sadly the local TRU up here went out of business ages ago.
-
…i'm probably the only one in this thread that played both SS's (when they cam out even ), i feel kind weird
Ahem…. Ahem ahem! /raises hand
I can't wait to play this. -
The demo was sick! I cannot wait to get my hands on this one.
-
Am I the only one is is SCARED of rapture? The whole place kinda freaks me out.

It's on the same level as the first Resident Evil in my eyes. Pretty scary but goddamned exhilarating.

Wait.
Wait.
Wait. These games are related to System Shock? I am now interested in this game.
-
Not really related, I suppose. Same people are making it, it has the word "Shock" in it's name and it's horror/fps/scifi/rpg but storywise there's isn't a connection. Or… is there?
-
I was watching G4 tv and Morgen Webb(from X-play) got a copy early!
I think she went to Toys' r ' us -
@Kei:

Ken Levine stated a few times that BioShock is a spiritual successor to System Shock. So in a way you could consider it a prequel of sorts.
No shame in that Yoska, since i'm probably the only one in this thread that played both SS's (when they cam out even ), i feel kind weird
No you're not. I played SS2 when it came out. Still one on my all time favorite FPS. (Until this came out anyway :D)
-
All these good games coming out so close to each other, I can't afford them all so I guess this one wins out. The rest will have to wait until later
-

A spiritual successor doesn't necessarily mean a relation in the story, in fact, if its gonna be labeled as such, its probably not. So, I wouldn't call it a prequel at all.
-
i dont think he meant that the stories were connected. there are lots of series where the stories arent connected between the games. (thinking of FF and quake games mostly) think he meant that kind of "prequel of sorts".
-

FUCK!!! haven't scores like that in a while
-
This game is coming out TOMORROW!!! I'm super hyped!
-
I picked up the PC version just now… gonna try it out in a bit. I hope my machine can handle it.
-

But why call it a prequel, then? I'd understand if he called it a sequel or such, but to have two games which have no relation at all in story, and call one of them a prequel, that's pretty misleading.
-
Oh don't read so much into it. By prequel I meant in the sense that Bioshock takes place in 1960 while System Shock took place in the future. Relax.
-
I was watching G4 tv and Morgen Webb(from X-play) got a copy early!
I think she went to Toys' r ' usDon't tell me you're interested in her….or her show......or that station.
-
X-play is a good show.
-
I got the game a couple of days ago and it´s AWESOME. i really recommend everybody to get this game.
-
!
never thought about what kind of problems those plasmids could cause
-
Bioshock…
I've been hearing some really, really good things about it. It's been getting unbelievably high scores from reviewers…and now I want it. Not only because I want to see just how awesome it is, but also because I'll finally be able to get the jokes that all these web-comics are cracking. -
This game kicks unbelievable amounts of ass. It's just really, really cool. Must-have for any 360 owner, probably as much as Halo 3.
-
Man, I really want this game, but I just went and got some new clothes and Metroid Prime 3. I'm broke… this sucks.
-
The game's good enough, has (had) potential to be much better but then it wouldn't have sell and no sequel would ever be made. i just hope they give us a SDK to mod the game , well we cna mod by hacking but that' doesn't always bring the wanted results, and that the sequels will build on this and improve further to achives a revolutionary game that this isn't.
