It's great that the show is still alive.

This is it guys! This is it!! It's official!
We are back on the air!
Great to hear. But still, all I can say is…
Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar Caesar.
@Adult:
Since the debut of the first season in 2005, The Boondocks has been one of Adult Swim's most popular and critically acclaimed series. The Peabody Award-winning animated series is based on Aaron McGruder's comic strip by the same name. Produced by Rebel Base in association with Sony Pictures Television, The Boondocks returns with a new season on Adult Swim later this year.
Can't wait!
…..
I really wasn't expecting this to get a 4th season. Glad to hear it!
Mad hints were being dropped over the place like they were conducting major heat and the pimp so happened to be well within the bounds of the crib.
Needless to say, I'm excited.

Why not? Season 3 was pulling in millions of people with every airing.
I remember back in spring 2011 when John Witherspoon was talking about how it's coming back for a 4th season and I thought we'd be hearing Adult Swim's word on that really soon. Boy was I wrong.
I also like how their announcement is void of any sort of real info (even in the Press Release). On the FB page they give us an old picture of Huey from the second episode of Season 1, link us to a simple page with the logo and the number 4, and then just leave it at that. And people are still getting hyped out of their minds. A couple of people just told me today that I made their days by showing them Adult Swim's official site acknowledging Season 4.
If that's not a testament to this show's large audience and popularity I don't know what is. And I want to see Caesar make it in this season.
I'm still mad about the whole "Kali Troy is voicing Caesar" thing that started after Season 2 ended. I'm wondering if her not landing ANY voice roles in Season 3 had anything to do with that.

YESSSS!!!
The Truth Is Back!

Back during season 3 I recall hearing that it was going to be the last season and they weren't going to do more. I'm glad that decision didn't stick.

How long did it take you to craft this line, because I'm sigging it.
Damn what a great bleeping day.

Yeah, but only unofficially. Aaron McGruder said on Twitter back when Season 3 was about to air that it was "his fault" that the show is ending. And that Sony told him to not call Season 3 "the final season". Needless to say he never explained. He was also completely absent from the Season 3 DVD, which was VERY odd…It was pretty obvious that everyone except for him wanted it to continue.
So I see why you'd think that, but it makes sense they'd eventually get him to go back to it.

Not too long, considering that I'm practically quoting my good friend english romantic poet John Keats, but I'm honored nonetheless.
They need Caesar in this season. Without him the only way Huey has really gotten any screen time is when him and Riley are doing something. Never an episode with him by himself really. I'd like to see an episode where him and Caesar get caught up in some kind of trouble. And I agree with that whole Kali Troy thing. I remember she even casted herself as Caesar on her Myspace paige when that hype was going around.
I remember even sending her messages on MySpace asking about this and getting some vague-ass responses.
And then there were people saying that Caesar was going to show up in some Huey subplot for the Fundraiser episode in Season 3…don't know how THAT got started but it fooled a bunch of people. In a sense it seemed to be a bit of a running gag where everyone expects Caesar to show up in a particular season or episode and he never does. Made sense for him to not be in Season 1 but I totally expected him in Seasons 2 & 3. They talk about not being able to find the right actress in the Season 2 finale DVD commentary but say they have an episode written for him already.
Wonder how'd they even handle him on the show though? If you pay attention you notice that just about every character in the series is handled in a different way on the show than the comic due to the different overall focus.
So uhm… who is Ceaser?
And why so anticipated?
I'm ready. I'm ready. Always have been, always will be.
And Caesar is Huey's best (only) friend, who has a lot of the same views that Huey has socially and politically but is much calmer and moderate about them. And funny.
Huey isn't taken seriously by anyone in the show and he's extreme, so he's only given focus once in a blue moon -
but Caesar hanging out with him and providing that calming contrast would let Huey get a bit more (deserved) attention.
He's one of the more popular characters from the comic and - frankly - would be a great addition to the show, if only because it'd allow Huey to get a bit more screentime.

Yeah, so basically he's the Martin Luther King to Huey's Malcolm X.

I'd say Huey's only extreme in the comic though and maybe some of the earlier Season 1 episodes. Since the show has that different focus they try to downplay his negative characteristics to build him up as a voice of reason while exaggerating the negative traits of characters like Riley and Granddad. Caesar managed to play the role of the "Only Sane Man" on the comic just fine but I wonder how that would work with Huey being a much more passive character in the cartoon…I mean you can't just have Caesar make yo momma jokes to Huey all season!
At least with Aaron having an intro episode fully written he's likely to have already figured that out entirely.
I mean you can't just have Caesar make yo momma jokes to Huey all season!
Eventhough he didn't use to do that all the time when he came into the comic.
I just remember Caesar being a much less interesting Huey and suspect that using him will just take up valuable time that could be given to the show's actual stars: Uncle Ruckus and Ed Wuncler III.
Can't wait for the new Stinkmeaner episode. I mean after killing hin, popping from the grave and his possie in Jail. What is there left to use??
A wife?

OMG a stinkmeaner Jr. would be killer, but this one aint blind and is bad-ass fighter
McGruder is trying to kickstart a live action Uncle Ruckus movie:

Guess Django wasn't enough for him
Fuck it, I'm donating!
LET'S GOOOO!
I've always thought Jaden Smith would make a good Riley looks wise…......
Uncle Rukus is awesome, hoping this film bodes well for McGruders career. Though I wonder if it'll be canon with the series?
edit: I know that Huey and Riley won't appear in this flick I just wanted to get that out there.
A live action Uncle Ruckus movie is going to be amazing.
Live action Uncle Ruckus movie? Take my money!!!!!
A month late but **** it
Our patience has paid off at long last.
The animation in that promo was slick!
Here's a direct version:
I'm so fucking happy right now!!!
Woot!!
Fingers crossed that Caesar shows up.

Hearing now that that Aaron McGruder had no involvement in this season. Major bummer.
Yea this season will just feel wrong.
http://www.theroot.com/articles/culture/2014/03/it_s_official_aaron_mcgruder_out_at_boondocks.html
I kinda had the feeling he'd drop out of it eventually. There were just alot of hints. From the commentaries in S3, to the lack of his own word at the time Season 4 was announced(and him failing with that Kickstarter thing). There's also an interview with Regina that bothered me about the contents of the season too… so... It could be interesting to see where the series goes without Aaron.
How involved was he in the previous season? Cause it sure feels like the third season took a different turn.
He's always been extremely involved in the show. He's wrote/co-wrote every episode. In Season 3 he wrote every one himself except for a couple he co-wrote with Rodney Barnes. I loved Season 3 but the reason I feel it may have felt different was because Aaron knew he was ending the show and wanted to go out with a bang.
And yeah, ever since I read that Regina interview I had a feeling he wasn't involved in the show. I also thought it was very weird that the show was never even mentioned when he was promoting the Kickstarter with Snoop Dogg. Aaron's been very weird about the show ever since the Season 3 trailer came out.

Longer video.
I see a Breaking Bad parody…
Nice catch! By the way, Aaron did a statement on the final season.
As the world now knows, The Boondocks will be returning for a fourth season, but I will not be returning with it. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Sony and Adult Swim for three great seasons.
I created The Boondocks two decades ago in college, did the daily comic for six years, and was showrunner on the animated series for the first three seasons. The Boondocks pretty much represents my life’s work to this point. Huey, Riley, and Granddad are not just property to me. They are my fictional blood relatives. Nothing is more painful than to leave them behind.
To quote a great white man, “Hollywood is a business”. And to quote another great white man, “Don’t hold grudges”.
What has never been lost on me is the enormous responsibility that came with The Boondocks - particularly the television show and it’s relatively young audience. It was important to offend, but equally important to offend for the right reasons. For three seasons I personally navigated this show through the minefields of controversy. It was not perfect. And it definitely was not quick. But it was always done with a keen sense of duty, history, culture, and love. Anything less would have been simply unacceptable.
As for me, I’m finally putting a life of controversy and troublemaking behind me with my upcoming Adult Swim show, BLACK JESUS.
I AM SO HYPE~~~!!!!!
