^^ this is the example I thought of. Also, I am pretty sure Oda flat out said it somewhere in the SBS or something.

Does Luffy fully know Nami's past? He walked off while Nojiko was beginning to tell them. I really enjoyed it when he said, "I am not interested hearing about her past."
He was saying that he doesn't care about anyone's past, but he just cares about what kind of person they are now. They could be terrible in the past, but it doesn't matter.
Yeah that's what I like about Luffy. Dude doesn't even read the newspaper so he doesn't have any biases when he meets people. Probably does it all on instinct too lol.
question, do you guys ever wish that the fights with devil fruits in one piece were played out with stratgey similar to jjba, like trying to figure out the power working out it's possible weaknesses and attempting to use those weaknesses against them

No, every thing about One Piece is perfect.

I think he has a vague idea of her past but he doesn't know the details. Arlong was talking about Nami being stuck in that room where she was forced to make maps - so it's not like Luffy is completely ignorant to what Arlong did to her.

Yeah, Oda has confirmed it in the SBS. Body parts that Robin grows are like her real body parts, so if they are damaged she will get hurt too.
Does anyone think that Oda might've made a mistake with the Sunny Pirates' history, especially with Jinbei and Arlong?
Fisher Tiger created the Sunny Pirates 15 years ago, with Jinbei (31 years old) and Arlong (15-16 years old).
Johnny/Yosaku said that these two were equal, whether they were equal in strength or authority, we don't know. However, neither of these two options make much sense to me. Arlong wasn't THAT strong when Luffy defeated him, so logically he should be really weak as a 15 or 16 years old teen. Unless he was always around his current level and never improved.
^More likely, Yosaku didn't really know what he was talking about and went by rumor.
Or it could be referring to that they were able to summon up a roughly equal amount of followers during the split, which led to them being thought of as leaders of two opposing factions within the same crew – thus "equals." Or that even before the split, Arlong was rising quickly in the ranks because of his championing the Fishman supremacy beliefs and hated humans like Tiger, so he was thought of by some as Jimbei's equal despite his age and strength.

I knew I could count on your to provide a better insight on the issue.
Is it safe to purchase One Piece Manga volumes if I live in the US?
Are all the New copies in good condition, and recent prints?
Also, is there a difference when purchasing the EastBlue volumes, where they are in a 3 pack?
Are the translations and quality the same when going with the 3 pack?
Well, I know the book has a lot of time, but I've just known it, and I want the scans, and the only link I find is broken.
The book is this:

If someone has the scan,
Can you upload it again?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad English ;)

Yep. I have that.
Did Tenryoubito rape Boa Hancock when she was a slave of theirs?
We can assume that they did horrible things the slaves. I've wondered if Arlong ever touched Nami? We could assume since he had her mind so warped by threatening to kill a whole village, and he did state that he thought she was cute.
What about RightStuf and the copies of One Piece that are in sets of 3?
^ Those are seinen thoughts my friend.
Did Tenryoubito rape Boa Hancock when she was a slave of theirs?
About the way Boa sisters acted while telling their story to Luffy, i think that Oda strongly hinted so. Of course he wouldn't write so in the manga or say it straight, but still i (and many other people) presume so, i had that thought instantly while reading that page at the first time.
Biggest hint, i think, is that the sisters spoke with horror about "the first MEN they ever saw", though there are also female tenryuushits.
So, we could assume that the males did something.. u know.
Meh.
Oh, and about Arlong touching Nami; i personally dont believe to that, He was so racist that He would never had sexually abused any human, i think.
Also, if we would predict much of this kind of things (outside the fanfics), whole serie would turn very..
Dirty.
(..Damn.)
Dirty isn't the place I want the series to go. Hahahhahahahhaha
Good point about ARlong though.
Could someone answer the question about the 3 pack Manga volumes? Please?
Jerk Disease, care to elaborate?
Did Tenryoubito rape Boa Hancock when she was a slave of theirs?
Oda sometimes does these stuff. He shows serious matters like alcoholism (Kokoro) that only the more mature readers would pay attention to. So I guess that whatever happened in Hancock's past with the Tenryuubito is another example.

That thread was really something. I see Zephos didn't forget.
If you are like me you try to make it a point to collect all things Oda and One Piece related. I don't care to collect SJ magazine on a monthly basis because the only series I really care about in there is OP and I know I am going to get the chapters when they come out in the volumes anyway. However, some SJ magazines come with special One Piece content that we may never get another official release of again - this thread is about listing these magazines down and hunting them accordingly. The two that I own are…
SJ Dec 2009 - Containing one of Oda's Romance Dawn one shots.
!
SJ March 2011 - Contains Oda's collaborative effort with Toriyama, the Cross Epoch which has both DB and OP characters.
!
If there are more like them - list em below.
I won't buy a magazine with Sasuke is coming on the cover.
Those really are the only two issues of any worth for OP fans who couldn't give a crap about the american SJ.
Sasuke is coming! Run for your lives!!!
Hmm…well, worth a shot. I am happy that I at least have the two that matter.
EDIT: HA! They moved my thread! I already asked this question in this thead! w/e I don't care.
Hmm, just wondering, how come Luffy's scar under his eye? Or why didn't other scars stay? Since it was just a knife scar, and we've seen Luffy get stabbed a lot.. I know this is before his DF power, but doesn't rubber only work against bullets and blunt objects? So… Bleh, that's my question.
Sorry if the answer's obvious :ninja:
I think I noticed a new scar on Luffy in the chest region.
Is this the only time in the whole series when Sanji calls Zoro to Zoro instead of "marimo" etc? Realized that when re-reading that volume.
http://www.mangareader.net/103-2593-9/one-piece/chapter-486.html
Actually, I was rewatching the Water 7 arc episodes. There was the scene where Luffy, Nami and Ussop went out to exchange their gold for money and Robin went out with Chopper, which leaves only Zoro and Sanji on the ship together alone. Sanji called Zoro (Yes, I was surprised too that he actually called Zoro by his name) and asked where are the others. Zoro tells Sanji that they all went out and they are the only ones left. Sanji then thinks it's boring to be with Zoro so Sanji tells Zoro to take care of the ship by himself since he is going to buy ingredients on the market.
I think the scar is due to he stabbed himself before he ate the devil fruit.
What happened to Whitebeard's bed ?
Seriously I bet you could make a bunker out of that.
@No:

Oh man I guess all those nurses sleep in that bed now.

I think when you are an ant, it really makes no difference who will step on you- a human or an ogre. For Yosaku, both of them are so strong, the difference means little.
Whats the difference between a shounen manga and that other type which I presently don't remember the name for? I see the two terms being referred to a lot in these forums.
I'll revive this thread,
The hints, in my opinion, are in favor of Roger having eaten the Rubber Fruit, and here's some of what I base this on.
Gol Roger had an incurable illness = Luffy damages his body when using Gear 2nd and 3rd.
Roger's first mate does not have a DF = More likely that he did have one
All of the people who remember Gold Roger's powers (this is a long time ago after all) have a motive not to tell Luffy = Marines don't want to add to his infamy, Shanks probably doesn't want Luffy to worry.
DF's have yet to be fully explained = An upcoming DF arc where we learn how they pass through history, and what better way to do that then using Roger? What did Shanks do at Roger's death? How did he get the Rubber Fruit?
See my train of thought?
The other possibility is that he had the Gravity Fruit, this would make an interesting story as BB would have both of the most powerful pirates in the worlds powers at the same time, but I think this is far less likely. However, because BB said that his power was known as the most evil fruit of all, I get the feeling we will see that Roger beat someone who had the Gravity fruit.
Why? Why did you revive this dead, rotten thread that died alongside Psolaras?
And that theory is horrible. Just horrible.

1. Gear 2 and Gear 3 aren't illnesses
2. Not at all, this makes no sense.
3. Uh what? Why would that matter? How would Roger having a fruit have anything to do with Luffy. And wouldn't the marines want Roger to seem as bad and powerful as possible since the world thinks they captured him and thus it makes them seem better to have defeated this amazingly powerful and dangerous menace?
4. Oda basically confirmed in an SBS that the explanations of devil fruits will be revealed by Vegapunk, and if you wanted an example of another person getting a dead guy's fruit, Blackbeard has WB's power and if we need another situation we can use Ace's fruit
Not to mention Roger's crew talked about how stupid eating a devil fruit was. This is all stupid fanfiction with no basis whatsoever in anything
I didn't want to make it too long so I didn't give all of my reasoning, but I came across this thread after a google search to see if anyone had been contemplating it as I was after a One Piece anime bender.
Anyway, I think it stands to reason that we will learn more about what happened at Roger's execution, plus we will learn about Df's and we will learn about the origin of the fruit Shanks had, it just seems like a logical set of values that will come together in a cohesive story oda style.
Gol didnt ate a fruit. He was a Haki master and he had the power to play with luck.
With Mantra at the highest level you can listen the soul of every single life who surrounds you even death people xD

Lets further reinforce the fact that Luffy is destined to become Pirate King, as Oda hasn't shown us enough of that already, by having every conceivable thing about Luffy related to Gol D. roger :getlost:
How is it logical at all? Besides, what do you mean what happened at ROger's execution? We already know what happened at ROger's execution. It's not a mystery at all and it was a public execution. Besides which, we don't get explanations on how every other character got their hands on a devil fruit. He probably just found it on the Grand Line. I'm more curious about how ALvida got hers, since she had never been to the Grand Line when she got it and its been implied there is a link between the Grand Line and DFs
Oh and the "not an incurrable illness"
Luffy lost 10 years or so of his life from Magellians poison, he also shortens his life, as per Rob Lucci, when he uses Gear 2nd. Like it or not Luffy shortening his life span is an integral part of the story, and it will return to the limelight.
For why they called it an illness? Well I doubt anyone would say, oh our captain hurts his body when he fights, the illness is just like Luffy's desire to hurt himself rather than lose crewmates.
Anyone want to bet that the next gear, after Oda tires of Haki related victories, will hurt his body even more? What better way than to learn Roger's ultimate technique? HAHA yea it does sound like fanfiction but I've rarely been wrong when I think of things in terms of a logical story progression.
I think he ate the gold gold fruit.
Thats why Skypeia is full of gold stuff ans shit.
Gear 3 doesn't even hurt Luffy's body, and your theory holds no weight unless he has Luffy's devil fruit anyways. And why the hell can't an incurable illness be an incurable illness. Besides which I highly doubt Luffy will ever get another gear. And why the hell wouldn't they say something like he chipped his life away for his goals? And how the hell could Crocus help treat self-inflicted damage to his body?

How much do you want to bet that your wrong? We don't need anymore parallels between Luffy and Roger's life, there is enough as it is. Fanfiction can't get as bad as the theory you are suggesting
actually I believe Usopp said something like "Remember how much damage just gear 2nd can do?!!" The implication is that using them together is a serious problem, and also does damage him. I agree that by itself it doesnt hurt him.
I have no idea what the next gear will be, but I doubt that Luffy's power will end at Haki since Haki is kind of like the entry ticket to the big leagues.
And how the hell could Crocus help treat self-inflicted damage to his body?<<<< Interesting to note that you said this after the incurable illness JUST being an incurable illness, but when I think about it, isn't Chopper's whole goal in life to solve incurable illnesses? That nothing is incurable? Well, I guess the strawhats have their crocus.
IF one piece was like DBZ maybe Oda would forget about the life shortening stuff Luffy has done in the past, just how the Kaoken was forgetten to have damaging issues, but I respect Oda more than that, this storyline will come back.
I personally think Dragon may have ended up with the fruit that was once Gol D. Roger's fruit. In Loguetown, Dragon very much seemed to command the weather. In Episode 0, while facing Shiki, there was a mysterious storm that wiped out nearly all of Shiki's fleet while Roger was the one to miraculously escape.
Of course, the latter could be contributed to Gol D. Roger's 'luck' or even his 'understanding' of things by making the engagement happen in a location where a storm was going to happen, but I can't help but shake the idea seeing how the start of the pirate era would generally match up with the emergence of the revolutionaries.
