I'm as as Luffy in Meat heaven!
Dragon Quest IV, V & VI for NDS!
-
-
Wonder if we'll ever get a port of VII. With it being rare and all..
-
I never played the DQ series except the monster series(Coby and taras Journey) so I am not sure if the same thing apllies to these games(catching monsters, breeding ,items found on map)
-
Holy shit, awesome!!!!!!
-
I still need to play these, so this is awesome news.
-
Yeah… I've beaten 1-3, but only got through part of 4 and never played 5-6, so this is really great news for me.
-
I wonder if this means that the 3d world will once again know the glory of Torneko.
-
^Man I remember getting an Iron Spear in my first battle with Torneko! I was like WTFOMGBBQ, and every 3-5 fights I'd get either an equipment or item.
Wonder if they'll keep that advantage in the DS port?
@KaizokuFan- No these games are pure RPGs…..longer as leveling up in WoW pure RPGs. -
I've only played VIII, and love it. So, maybe I'll play the older ones. Let's just hope they're all translated. Either way, this is great news!

YES! I loved what I played of V (it's also what introduced me to the main series) and I've been wanting to play IV and VI!
-
So are they in a single cartridge? I really hope so.
I'm assuming (and really, really hoping) they're coming to the US, since DQ is becoming bigger and bigger over here.
-
Fucking awesome news indeed~!!
Oh now I really want a DS~!! I am absolutely getting this in my plan-to-buy when I get mine this Fall.
-
I've played all of those, but not in a long time. I just wonder if they'll be all together or separate?
-

I'm the same case.
-
This is remarkably kick ass! Ever since I played VIII, I've been itching to play some of the other Dragon Quest games.
Although I hope its presented so that you don't have to open a menu just to talk or check something.
-
@Cap'n:

No, the scans say that 4 will be out in the winter and the others are further away, so clearly not bundled in one.

It's a good chance, I'd say. DQ9 being on the DS too and all, I don't see why they'd release all those FF remakes here and not the DQ ones too. Especially since 5 and 6 have never been officially in English.
-
Too bad they're not bundled, but oh well. I'm more willing to spend the extra money for Dragon Quest instead of FF.
-
This is wonderful news, indeed! I love Dragon Quest, and have played and pretty much maxed out 1 - 4, and 7 - 8. Have never gotten to play 5 -6, because the whole "not in English" thing.
My personal favorite by leaps and bounds is DQIII, so I hope they do decide to remake the Loto saga (I - III) on DS, even though they released it on GameBoy Color around 2000. Those are great! III's remake had a great personality system and medal collection added into it to widen the game, along with the awesome Divinegon dungeons and Pacheesi boards, as well as remaining one of my favorite games of all.
It is great that they are releasing the entire Heaven saga again, though.
IV is probably the overall favorite of most fans, and is a wonderful game. I've played through both the original NES version and the Playstation 3d remake, so I wonder which it will favor, likely the PS version. I just hope that they add a lot more content and go deeper into certain areas. I'd give an example, but I'm not sure of the rules of spoilers on 15 year old games, lol. I also hope that they do call it Heaven and translate correctly this time. Even though there was a LOT more changes from the 1 -2 on NES to the GBC remakes.
I love the artwork of V and VI, but never got to play them, so very excited, indeed.
Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior) was my first RPG, I remember it took me forever to beat it, haha, I remember being shocked that I wasn't done after slaying the dragon and saving the princess!
-
As long as these don't take as long as Joker did to come out over here (not due until this November, which is nearly a year after it came out in Japan), I'll be pleased.
-
sort of like DragonQuest VIII?
Yeah, but only more difficult in a way, but you can rectify that with hours of leveling up at times :P.
Ya know I hope they don't make it so that pressing the A button opens up a menu from which you choose to either Talk, open a Door or Search a chest. I personally found that annoying, no offense. An option for having that would be OK tho.
I also wonder if they'll use the original JP names for the DQ4 characters (Ragnar is Ryan for example) -
They really should bring this to America. From what I've heard, both Rocket Slime and Dragon Quest 8 sold fairly well over there, plus they could use the "the only _____ not to be localized" marketing crap they used on Final Fantasy III too. And I still see Dragon Quest 8 as one of the best RPGs I've ever played ever, so I really want to play these games in English.
-
I wonder if they'll keep that line from DQ4 for the NES (English release)-
"Don't litter the litter!" -

I was gonna post that if no one else did. Those screens are looking great. It's true what Captain Usopp told me; I do look like Taloon!
-
Hold it. What about IX?
Very, very good news, I can't wait to play 'em, although it would've been nice to put them in one or two bundles (like they should have done with the FF Advance carts).
-
The games are going to be completely revamped and great, so I doubt a single bundle would be enough.
Plus they'll sell brilliantly on their own. I can't wait for IV.

It's Torneko.
-
I'm sure she meant that fat mercheant guy. So, that's his name? I never played this.
-
Yeah, Torneko.
Taloon is the name they gave him the first time they localized the game (and it's wrong).
-
I just hope they don't have the annoying European voices like in the localized DQ8.
Oi!! GUV!!!
-
The voices were awesome.
Shut up forever.
-
Whoa the voices were great for DQ8. Yangus was supposed to be like that, so the voice was perfect.
Anyways, is DQ7 ever coming here. I'd really want a portable copy of that.
-
Meh, I found alot of them to grate on my nerves.
Especially with the awkward pitch in some lines.
but yea, I kinda thought alot of people would disagree.
-

Dragon Quest VII has always been available in America, it was just published while the franchise was still under the "Dragon Warrior" title. It's for the original PlayStation and isn't too hard to find if you try enough.
I still hope that eventually DQ3 gets a huge remake like these are getting, I still consider 3 as my favorite RPG of all time.
-

How rare, because I got a near brand new condititon copy of VII from my friend years ago for free because post-dq8 noone in America knew wtf DQ was.

Except that i said I 'd want it for a portable. I've played the playstation version already. So the playstation version does me no good.

I turned those voices off, so I have no idea what Angelo and Jessica sound like. It pissed me off to no end that the localization crew fucked up and left some dialogue in one or two of the movings, not to mention that I'd imagine Princess Trode as sounding like she was an innocent 16 yr old girl, and when I heard her European voice she sounded like a middle aged, drunken bar maid or something. And now that voice is stuck in my head when I read her lines of dialogue and it ruins it!
The only good thing about the voice acting is the Indian fortune teller guy and his daughter had good voices, and ofcourse Yangus' voice is god-tier. It kinda ruins the world traveling feel that everyone has those british accents tho.
but yea, I kinda thought alot of people would disagree.
I completely agree. Which is why I turned them off after playing the demo. Voice acting almost always ruins rpgs, same for 3d graphics with dq8 being the exception for having 3d graphics that actually improved the game's feeling of immersion and Tales of the Abyss having the hands down best voice acting ever in an rpg. I'd never heard Yuri Lownethal before but he became one of my favorite voice actors instantly from that game, he's playing like 3 fucking main characters and they're all done perfectly AND sound different! and the rest of the cast is just as good!?! That game had better dubbing than most anime!
-
Glad to know I'm not the only bat-shit crazy person who hated the voices.
Also glad to know I can turn them off. I really should check the options more.
-
As someone who actually played the other DQ games, I kinda wanted the option to use that little action box that was in the original dq8(and ALL the previous dq games) too!
Most of the ppl who NEEDED the voices were ppl who bought it solely for the FF demo anyways..
-
I liked the voices in Dragon Quest VIII a lot, I thought they complemented the whole fantasy realm that the game took place in, and Ricky Grover made a flippin' awesome Yangus.
-
Since the Dragon Quest series has always been somewhat European, I can't really see why you think the British voices don't fit. It complements the world where swords and sorcery prevail, don't you think? It's like saying Balthier had a nasty voice.
-
In the creator interview the creator of the series says he was influenced by medievel Europe but the DQ series is set in a different world, because there are lots of differences and such. It's not even close to be historically accurate even in building designs or stuff like that. I didn't mind the accents if they were kept to a certain area of the world, but everyone all over the world speaking with the same accent ruins the feel of traveling all over the world imho.
and I just feel DQ is a series that needs voice acting like it needs a light gun attachment. It's kinda unecessary and hurts the experience, if anything. DQ's appeal to me, has always been gameplay and sense of immersion. In DQ7 you REALLY get the feeling the main character is you, as with all the DQ game. Reading the dialogue instead of having it read to you, helps add to that feeling for me. The same as the first person battle system did, but eventually I adjusted to the new system and the camera angle does try to make use of the old first person style too.
-

Yeah I too liked most of the voice acting in the game, those turned off by Yangus' voice are missing out to Jessica & Angelo's which were VERY good.
I wonder if in DQ4 they will give weapons such as the whip and boomerang the abilities they had in later games? -
The official release date for IV in Japan has been announced. It's November 22.
-
May I ask where you found this information, Senshi Mizaka?
-
An English X-Mas release of DQ4 would be pretty cool, but sadly SE haven't announced any plans for english release, yet those bastards >_<.
-
Here's a short gameplay clip that was shown at TGS.
They'd better bring this game here.
-
DQ4 is out in Japan and someone from another forum manged to convince me to DL the ROM…which I will do so soon.
Still no word sadly on English realese T_T -
Importing this shit as soon as Tales of Innocence is out next month. Booyah!
-
who doesn't love another set of Toriyama's sexy female characters, eh?
