Trying to add a .gif to my signature…

Hi. I'm trying to add a tiny animation to my signature, but so far have been unable to. I noticed that apparently I don't have permission to do this, yet I have noticed that (a few) other users do have .gif images in their signatures. I have searched the forums, FAQs and help files to the best of my ability, yet all I found was that someone had asked this question before once, and it had gone unanswered.

Can someone please help me? I made this .gif specifically to use in my forum signature right after I joined, and was so disappointed when I discovered I couldn't!

uhm? isnt allowed?
have you hosted it on an image hosteing site? if so it should just be to put in your sig

just make sure it follows the file size and image size regulations.
