People could see it and not like it despite it being very very popular.
Also it personally bothers me unlike One Piece.

HxH isn't really that violent….In terms of gore, Claymore and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are probaly the worst in Shonen Jump. Hokuto no Ken also.

Whatever gore it is, it's more emotional when you don't see it and it's a bit off-panel.
You can see the difference between the anime and manga really. The anime had much more emotional impact on me at least. Same for that girl's death in Ants saga [OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE!]. -

You know, I'm a big fan of this series too, and I'm also excited to see it finally return… I'm not even angry at Togashi for all the delays and half-assed art over the years... But it sure as hell makes me curious. Weekly Jump editors are known to be hard-asses and slave drivers. In interviews with jump mangaka, they usually go on about the only thing that keeps them insane is the love they get from the readers. So how does Togashi just dodge all that? Why do his editors cut him so much slack? Shouldn't his co-workers be rioting or something at this point?
I don't know, it's so weird to think that he's just THAT popular in Japan... Makes me wonder if he has some yakuza connections or something...

They prepared against the bomber. What with all the potential strategies possible with the technology of greed island, like materialization of the boulder. And bomber was good. Somebody after the fight remarked that "they used some incredible strategy to beat him"; "they hadn't really improved nearly enough to do it without that". Or something like that. Plus, bomber greatly underestimated Gon during the fight. Like, not expecting Gon to sacrifice a hand so that he could hit him.
Morau's so dead. Fighting chimera ants when he's at "40%"? He's literally asking for it.
