I've always just assumed that was Biscuit.
I don't think so bisquite has blonde hair, this girl has burgundy hair, I thought she might be one of the girls from the starting point of GREED ISLAND.
-
If it wasn't the hair and the height, I would say she is Neon.
-
Togashi sometimes hyper-realizes or alters his characters for the cover. I just figured they have roughly the same figure and clothing taste, so it's probably Biscuit.

Seeing as how that volume is the first volume to feature the greed island arc, which starts at around the end of volume 14. I think your right, it probably is Biscuit. Now we got nothing to discuss…I think i'll go and re-read the last chapters again, I need to have my mind set ready for when the series returns.
EDIT: alright just got done re-reading the last batch of chapters and my mind is now set. All those speculations about gon not remember killua are thrown out the window since the minute killua showed up at peijin gon looked at him and said "killua" and him losing all of his power just to defeat Pitou I think is unclear cause he declared himself the winner when he said "see kite just like you said, i finished him with the killing blow" so gon still has that monsterous strength as of now he is injured and was being carried back by killua. If gon can be healed he will be the only character who can face Mereum strength wise.
I have a prediction that we will get to see Zetoh's ability through Ikalgo's corpse puppet technique.
-
-
damn that suckas every where
Let's have a race… I have volumes 1 - 27 so the first to buy 28 wins
I've been wondering the same thing. I wonder if togashi will do another cover with a character that's not in the series like volume 15…I mean who the hell is she? I keep looking at that volume cover and I can't figure out who she is.
You're on! Now where's my wallet.

i doubt there is a corpse to use. silva's attack was impressive, zetoh is probably dust now.

Wasn't she one of the card items you can gain on GI?
-
Does anyone know if Viz are going to reprint any volumes that are OOP? I'm struggling to find Vol 8, 9 & 14. Being the picky collector that I am, I don't want to start buying volumes then have to miss out on some, so any feedback would be very handy.
-
This talk about Dio makes me want to read JJBA Which i haven't since it's so freaking long. So I know it's totally the wrong thread but what should i read or where should I start from etc.
Sorry but not reading JJba because it's long is just like not reading OP because it's long : a lame excuse.

When i started getting the series just over a year ago, I also struggled to find those volumes in good condition for quite a few months. I ended up finding them here–-->http://toylet.net/

Thanks a lot, Vol 8 & 14 are out of stock but they have 9 so that's where I'll be getting that one. Do you know if they deliver to the UK though?

There's more than enough options for buying volume 8.

And that's the only copy of 14 I can find that isn't like 30 dollars. The cover looks a bit sketchy, but this site doesn't offer false or seedy materials, so I think it should be fine. Decent price, too.Oh, I just realized you're in the UK. Well, I've ordered stuff from the UK before (I live in the US) and I haven't really had problems, so give it a shot. Might be a bit expensive though.
What are you talking about ?
We were wondering who the chick on the cover of vol. 15 was.
I assume it's Biscuit, but I guess it would make sense that it's a card in the game too. Last night on a whim I just leafed through a couple volumes of the GI arc and really enjoyed it, so I think I might give it a reread and see if it is a card from the game.Anyway, do we still just have the blanket statement "it's coming back in August?" August is creeping up fast, so it seems weird we don't have a definite date. Here's hoping based off Vol. 29's release date that it's early on in the month.

Thanks for the links man. I might give it a try, see how it goes. I just feel that HxH is too well recommended not to start reading.

If they do an anime, I wonder how they're going to do the narration scenes, I feel like that was an experience that was only powerful reading it.

Never even thought of it as being a card from GI.

Besides the fight with Gon and Gensuru at the end (as well as Killua and Biscuit's fight) and the dodgeball match (which included the great Hisoka) Greed Island was not the best story of Hunter x Hunter. At all. It just wasn't very interesting, was anyone really interested in seeing Gon and Killua search for cards? I just felt I needed to say that because while HxH is still a great series it has had it's lowpoints (I guess everything has).
-
Geed Island was okay, but only as an arc in a progressing series.
But as the last completed arc since 6 years ago…....not so much.
-
Togashi loves to do exposition, greed island was his wet dream.
-
Remember that chapter with 10 pages of just descriptions of what the spell cards did? That was fuckin' awesome.
There are also rumors there might be a new anime being announced on the day of the V29 release. Dunno if that's being discussed here before. -

I thought the same exact thing until I re-read the arc and now it's one of my favorite arcs in the series. It has great character development, great world development the fights are memorable and togashi made the game believable, he successfully intertwined RPG and card fighting elements.

(i'm an artist which is why I like it, lol)
EDIT: was there ever a page spread of ging holding gon as a baby? cause I remember this but i'm not sure if it really happened.

source: http://matomate.blog133.fc2.com/blog-entry-2099.htmlWould this indicate that this arc is finaly drawing to a close ?
Because I doubt the studio (whichever it is) would start this project up with it being uncertain in what year they'll be able to get the ending to the same arc they start on.
-
from chapter 310's cliffhanger it strongly suggests that the arc is coming to an end.

I need to get my Hunter fix soon.

Greed Island was a fantastic arc, full of twists, turns, creative concepts and interesting characters.
Especially when you consider it was a damn TRAINING arc. Some of the most creative and interesting training methods around too. "Okay, now dig through this mountain!" The game setting was fun and interesting, the fact that the writer actually made up all those cards even though we never saw most of them just screams world creation and world building… Plus the entire climax with Bomber was fantastic and well planned, right down to Gon losing his arm. And the volleyball fight... They took VOLLEYBALL and made it incredibly tense and interesting. Plus the final twist at the verrrry end with Gon's father?
It even had the spiders and Hisoka and plot progression still. And Biscuit! F'in Biscuit!
Greed Island was fantastic. One of the best arcs of the series.
@Thousand:

You can go watch Yugioh if you want a series dedicated just to teh card games.
Togashi played completely fair by showing EVERY card in the deck, so there weren't any ass pulls when he used something or another. Unlike any other card game series where they make up cards on the spot, and conveniently draw them just in time, and sometimes have effects that weren't actually on the card, to suit their needs.
And do you really want Gon carrying around the pregnancy card?

What I wanted was for Togashi to make proper use of the system he created. I was very hyped up when Togashi used all those pages to show-case those cards. Given how detailed he went into auctioning systems, I was sure he was going to give us a highly entertaining, creative display of most of the cards and how they over-come specific situations. Instead they were completely wasted with their only contributions being a means of transport and healing Gon's arm. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. Togashi could have just implemented some teleporation system into the game (and let's be real, warp zones are pretty common in games so it wouldn't be far-fetched), replaced the cards with stars or chips, put in some magic potions and he could have done away with the cards all together for all the good they did.
I also disagree about Greed island being fantastic. I found it boring and tedious. The only time I was ever uninterested in what was going on in this manga. I found it too… convenient that Biscuit, good character that she was, would help Gon and Hisoka for no reason. The game setting didn't do anything to alleviate the boredom of the training sequences (they dug into a mountain and had off-screen adventures, really exciting that). The villain was terrible, his massacre of that group of Hunters was great but yet his own personality was so bland and unmemorable that his actions (and really, that mass explosion thing and blowing Gon's arm were the only cool things he did) were completely disjointed from his character and I couldn't take him as any more than a whiny, pretentious glasses character, his unmemorable subordinates weren't any better either. The fights were uninteresting except Gon's which was kinda ruined for me by the senzu bean at the end (I didn't expect him to stay with one arm either but for it to be so quickly and conveniently healed with the cards that weren't even used for anything else? Blegh)). Really the only thing I liked about it was the volley ball match (which was fantastic), other than that, screw it.

I always thought it was Dodgeball match not Volleyball :ninja:
Other than that I have to say I agree more with Robby. GI arc was anything but boring. Actually I wouldn't have mind seeing more of the game and the cards. The way they got all their remaining cards from the bomber team was a typically rushed Togashi ending, but it still wasn't bad (waaay better than how he rushed YYH).
We got introduced to more nin abilities & the Ultimate Technique thing, we saw more from Hisoka, Kururo got his way back in the game, we saw some of Gon's Dad, and this was the Arc were Killua started being cool for me, We got an incredible Dodgeball match, Gon kicked ass for the 1st time in ages and by the end Gon was closer to his dad than he ever was (I saw the anime waaay before I read the Manga).
Ultimately wanting to know what will happen next is what got me into the manga (hence OP) in the 1st place. I actually hold GI in a very special place.
-
I liked Greed Island just fine.
-
Yeah it was dodgeball. Which was awesome.
I think you guys are getting Hunter X Hunter's dodgeball confused with Beelzebub's volleyball match. Which was also awesome.
Also Greed Island was fantastic.
-
I am so incredibly happy now, you have no fucking idea.

[Totally confirmed now.](Totally confirmed now.)

i can't click on that

Perhaps I should re-read Greed Island. Maybe after re-reading it I'll appreciate it more. After all, re-reading the Norland/Calgara flashback caused me to appreciate it much more than I had before. Re-read's can help a lot sometimes.
-
@Thousand:
No, that was pretty terrible especially since they were horribly under-used.
I also think it wasn't that good, you shouldn't break the rhythm of your story with information that isn't really relevant, Togashi could have a put it at the end of a volume as a bonus.
-
Well, we could see this anime announcement as Togashi finishing up the arc in the next 10-20 chapters…
or we could see it as a confirmation of Togashi going back to releasing chapters at a regular pace...
Fuck yeah, false hope! -
False hope, the very best kind of hope~
Also I'm happy that the anime is continuing. I've yet to see any episode of the HxH anime though since I only follow the manga. Is it any good?

It's a good anime and it's almost devoid of fillers, only one episode or another is filler, but they are very rare in the anime. It follows the manga without problems.
-
Greed Island is one of my favorite arcs in all of Shonen. As Robbie stated it's immaculately crafted and combines tons of interesting characters, plotlines and beyond all else the sheer amount of creativity is jawdropping. Loved it. And how about that chapter where Killua earns his Hunter license mid way through? So good.

!
from mangahelpers:
HxH will be back in issue #35-36 (8th August) and the anime will start in Fall.

制作はマッドハウス。キャストは総入れ替えらしい。quote above says it will be produced by madhouse. don't know the source though, might be a random 2chan troll

I always wondered why they colored Gon's hair green. It's stylish maybe?

The King is one of the best villains ever. The curious thing is, he looks a lot like Freeza and they are both two of the best villains in shounen history.

He looks more like Cell honestly. I believe that was intentional as well.
-
Oh, cool. 8th of August? Glad to see it's early on in the month.
-
That's monday, Shonen jump relase day.
We should get it.. the 3 or the 5th. The last time they were top priority with mangastream.
-
Just like the Skypiea arc for OP, I don't really understand why people don't like Greed Island, ow wait it's just thousand lion and no maam, I kinda understand now…
No but joking aside Greed Island is just alot of fun, you see Gon and Killua having fun in their real life mmo; who wouldn't want to play in one? I enjoyed it alot, all the extra info on the game was a plus for me, it just shows how extended the Hunterxhunter universe is, and also what's possible with nen-power; cause all the game cards were powered by nen-users.
