I once stopped reading it when it became the fighting at tower, but recently picked it up again.
Now Hunter x Hunter is another manga that I read regulary, but not in magazine scan. Though, I need to wait for a while for Tanko to come out, Tanko is much better than magazine scan… But recently I discovered that Tanko is censored, so that was kind of sad.
So how you think about it? Which arc is your favorite?
This is one of those series I like better animated and I really think it deserves another TV series.
Hunter x Hunter is my most favouritest anime ever. But the best arc for me would be around the Tower arc where they first learn about nen. Confusing, yes. but very cool and interesting. No other shonen fighting series goes into this much detail about something which should be very complex and hard to master. Hunter x Hunter succeeds in conveying that.

It's just… Bad scenes (I think?) or characters are pained in black over it. I don't think it's on purpose, is it? :x
Iirc, one I saw (somebody from IRC told me) was v19 p40.
I knew the weekly jump scans were censored…but I didn't know the volumes were also.
But yeah, I like Hunter x Hunter.
As for the censoring...it's like black boxes drawn over certain stuff. Like, when a guy's fingers get cut off, there is a black box drawn over his hand. However, you can still see the animal/bug guy eating his fingers. Violent stuff like that...but it wasn't always like this. I think they just started it not too long ago?

ive only seen the the first 20 or so eps of the series, and im into it. In regards to the recently lack of art quality, i hear the manga-ka was sick, and could not draw high quality manga.
The art in Jump's been pretty weak since the beginning. It's not a recent development at all. It gets redone for the book releases, though, and is usually better. The reason being that Togashi is essentially the only manga author/artist out there who doesn't enlist the help of uncredited assistants to fill in the artwork. Since he's running a one-man show (rather than a team), it tends to show.
Plus, he's got really cool special privliges from the Jump editors that allow him to slack off a bit.
Still, the series as a whole is fun.
Let's hope that once he's done releasing all the Complete version of YYH, his work gets a bit better in magazines.

I watched the anime, it is quite an interesting story. The art in the manga is..
Well I have a hxh maniac for a friend so I can ask him for everything ^^
My favorite arc is the Greed Island one, the game was fun and the fights were really good!! The cards was interesting too, and I think the character settings for Bisuke fits really well (Being a weak-looking girl, she can hide from fights, meaning Gon and Killua still has to fight their own fights but has a teacher when not fighting).
The drawing are kinda bad…Yet I like it though, the simple lines that can still be known for what they show. The one thing I hate is the fact that he rests from releases so much (With lame excuses like spending time with his family!!). But, like Captain Panda said, he does work mostly alone (with the exception of his wife helping...), so I can't blame him too much...can I?
Anyway, Hunter x Hunter is gotta be my favorite manga right after One Piece.
the anime isnt as bad as the manga, and after i watched G.I final i was still hooked on it and took up the manga and i dont have that much problem with the drawings.
I really, really disliked the G.I. anime…The eyes are much too large, the color hurts my brain, and it being cuts to bits (OVA2 and OVA3) just makes it more annoying. Like I said, I like it's manga style.
I wasn't happy that the animation went digital in the last 2 OVA's, HxH just doesn't suit it.

I for one am a really big fan of hunterxhunter loved it since i first began reading it.I was curious at first since i'm allso a big yuyu hakusho fan as well.Have you guys seen the artwork in chapter 255? * i think that's the latest chapter* the drawing's go from fast sketchy looking to nice and clean.I don't care what anyone says about this series hunterxhunter is still one of the best series out there it's in my top 5 manga's

the york shin city arc was excellent, in both anime and manga. the new arc, with theses damn ants started bad (doesn't this king look too much like Cell???) but it's starting to become interresting again.
as for the x of hxh, togashi explained that he wanted to call his manga "hunter" but he saw a tv show called "something x something", he found it cool and so called his manga hxh. togashi is strange…
the jump drawings really suck, but sometimes, he's putting a lot of efforts and it's quite good.
BUT DAMN WHY ARE HXH THE TOP PRIORITIES OF JAPANESE SCANNERS? I WANT ONE PIECE AND NARUTO FIRST!!!
That's because togashi made name for himself with yu yu hakusho i believe, don't worry oda and kishimoto will one day be top priorities to.
I have only read 7 volumes but from what I can tell its good. I seen the pic that GEPPETOSMONSTER posted in the Most Violent Moments thread with Gon fighting the Bomb Devil and Gon's left hand has been blown off. How did that happen?! Will he get it back?! Well, I finally got into this series by means of the anime. Once I finish what of the anime my roommate has, I'll start reading the manga, but for right now, I have a more pressing question.

You should read the manga first since it's nothing like the anime at all.
I've already started reading the manga, and am past the GI Arc. I think I prefer the anime version a bit, but regardless…

You really think there's that big of a difference between the manga and anime, Geppetto? I've tried them both (well, not the second and third OVAs) and I like them about evenly. 9 times out of 10 I agree with people when they say the manga is better than the anime for a certain series, but not HxH…

I remember when i told my parents i wanted the entire collection for my birthday they flipped probably thoought i would have wanted something better. buy hey i'am an anime freak.
My brother's were against it, told me to choose something more decent but i wouldn't, you see there's this great anime site i go to. it has reviews from people all around the world and Hunter x Hunter got shining Reviews so i decided to get it. My God am i glad that i didn't listen to people and went ahead with my idea i've never enjoyed anime so much, maybe except for Fullmetal and Onepiece

The anime has allot of filler into it.Like leorio vs. tonpa,leorio's fight with kurapica,the fight on the boat,the bus incident,The episode with those identical fox monster's it happened in the manga but the anime had allot more inserted into it - fillers

Hunter x Hunter is one of the two series where filler never really got on my nerves, the other being Naruto. See, I LIKE expanding on the manga, and one of the truly fillerific parts, the getting the boat up and running, was not only inspired and cool, but interesting and suspenseful.

While it's true there was a lot of extra stuff inserted into the anime, just about everything happens under the same circumstances as it did in the manga. Although I read the manga first, the anime was everything I anticipated it to me AND MORE.
And yes I love the animes filler too. Infact, one of my favourite episodes was the one where they were stranded on that island and had to McGuyver their way off of it.
I downloaded episode 2 the other day and it actually ended up being pretty good.

Kurapica´s a guy, albeit a somewhat ambiguous looking one. However, the cover of volume 14 has him shirtless, so we´ve got physical evidence he´s male.
As for the art…Togashi, unlike pretty much every other manga artist out there, does all the artwork himself, rather than relying on uncredited assisstants to help ink and fill in backgrounds and such. As a result, the chapters that appear in Jump every week are often sketchy, and sometimes just flat out scribbles, with lots of panels left empty. The art gets retouched and ignored panels get filled in for the collected releases, so as long as you just read the books, you probably won´t ever notice anything wrong with the art.

I suspect they will. There's nothing been officially announced, but it's been said in the past by Togashi and the anime staff that they'd like to keep the series going through the end. The last few years, there's been one series released starting at the beginning of every year, but since GI Final was longer than the others, or perhaps in order to give Togashi more time to finish/continue the Chimera Ant arc, they probably decided to wait until 2006 to do a new one. Though heck, they might even be able to get a full season series out of the material they have to catch up on.

I've finally caught up with the manga, and I gotta say… this arc is amazingly holding my interest. Yes, the King looks like Cell, but you know, the design kinda works, and I'm not against ideas being reused if they work.
As for my favorite character...
I'd have to say a toss-up between Leorio and Kurapica, leaning more towards Leorio. Quite frankly, I want much more of them. Much, much more of them.
Oh, and even more of the Ryodan. Easily the best developed and most interesting villians I've seen since Kenshin villians in SJ manga.
