Sangoku Musou 5 [Dynast Warrior 6]
-
Here, have some 16 characters.
-
Hell yeah! I just asked if Koei was gonna continue the series earlier and this is a kick ass reply! XD
Is that Cao Cao with white hair at the bottom right?
-
Well, since it's coming out in Japan during the fall (so they claim), I'm assuming, and hoping, it will be over here in a rather short time. It took like.. a month between the Japanese and America releases of Dynasty Warriors 5, so I'm really excited. I'm also anxious to see what new characters we get this time around, because the newcomers in 5 were all pretty damn awesome.
-
so DW 5 was the last one for PS2?
is the one in the black armor Lu Bu?
-

Looks more like a really old Sun Jian. Though it's likely a new character.

Yeah, it was. Orochi Warriors was made after DW5, but it's a cross-over of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors.
Yeah, that's him, sportin' his trademark antennae.
-
Hehe, I think I actually found Cao Cao in the center right…hehe silly me...
-
I MUST play this game!!
-
I just might have to get a PS3 for this game.
-
Yeah, you better believe it. It was a total surprise at the event; an even bigger surprise is that it's comin' out decently soon.
-
I've never played any of these games
-
I've been a big fan of this series ever since I got 2 as one of my first games for PS2. It'll be great to see the improvments they made for 6.
-
@Cap'n:
I've never played any of these games
Gaming sites tend to give them bad reviews because all the games in the series play similar to themselves, which is about the dumbest comment ever.
-
I was going to play them a few years ago, but there were already too many out. So I decided to just stick with Samurai Warriors, since I already knew something about most of the characters. Although I don't even have SW2 Empires, so hopefully I don't get behind.
-

You just run around alot (or ride a horse) killing your enemines and little mini bosses people. You have specials and items to help you.
Except you can't kill Lu Bu. Don't even stare at him.
-
Lu Bu is easy to kill. Especially if you use the broken Fire Orb.
-
@Cyringohn:

considering you have to defeat Lu Bu in either the Cao Cao Musou mode or in one of the Wei or Wu missions..
I havent defeated DW 5 yet. Right now I am stuck on the Diao Chan Musou mode missions.. -
You have to defeat Lu Bu to do several things, like get Sun Jian and Zou Ci's 4th Level Weapons.
-
Yea it was just a joke I didn't mean it seriously.
-
Lu Bu: CANT ANYBODY PROVIDE ME WITH A DECENT CHALLENGE? C3 C3 C3 C3 C3
-
If I start in this franchise, I'll probably play recent games.
I remember looking around on Wikipedia and I saw some old man who fights using cards. yeah.
-
Zuo Ci, Huang Gai, and Huang Zhong are the three old guys in the series. Zuo Ci fights with floating seals [cards], Huang Gai throws bombs and has the pimpest mace ever made, and Huang Zhong has a bow & arrow [and uses a sword for certain melee attacks].
-
Zuo Ci was the one I stumbled upon on Wikipedia. Huang Gai sounds awesome too.
So, what recent games should I look into? 3? 4? 5?
-
Dynasty Warriors 5 was the last one made, and the best one.
And yeah, Gohn's two favorite characters are Pang De and Huang Gai.
Huang Gai:
Huang Zhong:
Pang De:
-
I say go for the dynasty warrior 5, the newer the better to me because of more moves and more characters and more intense battle objectives.
If you like it, you should pick up dynasty empires as well, when your group has to take over China. It is pretty fun.

is Zuo Ci in DW 5? and what about those 2 girls who use fans as weapons?
and i also see in the DW6 Ad Zhou Yun has the dragon lanceso far my favorites are Sun Ci, Pang Tong, and Zhange He( why does he have butterfly/Faerie wings as a costume?!)

Zuo Ci didn't exist until DW5. Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao are both in DW5.
Because he's Zhang He?

thank you.. I guess I am missing tons of characters in this game.
-
4 was my personal favorite. But, mostly because of the weapon leveling system.
As for my favorite characters:
Shu: Guan Ping (Huge sword FTW)
Wu: Ling Ton
Wei: Tie between Zhang He and Zhen Ji -
Meng Huo looks pretty awesome too.
-
Guan Ping is very fun to play with. That sword of his makes crowd of people just get the fuck back.
He is not as strong as LU BU but if you know what you are doing with him. It is hard to lose when you have him.
-
Oh yeah, Meng Huo. He's the leader of the Nanman tribe. He fights with giant gaunlets and does belly flops and pounds on the ground like he's throwing a tantrum.
Guan Ping's sword is stupid.
-
The main reason I like Zhen Ji is her Musou attack. It's perfect for when you're surrounded, especially if you're low on health.
-
If stupid means owns tons of soldiers, than yeah his sword is stupid.
behold:
-
Ah, I love this series (Samurai Warriors as well). I love Zhao Yun's new look. I wonder how much swimming and and the ability to climb the archer towers will change things up?
-
If stupid means owns tons of soldiers, than yeah his sword is stupid.
behold:
Yes! Definete yes to that! Maybe Gon means it looks stupid?
-
Zhou Tai is pretty fun to play with. I love his fighting style.
-
Xu zhu seems to be the strongest but the slowest…
-
Guan Ping is a Chinese Cloud Strife. He's easily the dumbest character in the entire series.
Zhou Tai fights with iaijutsu; the fact that he has a katana is a big spit in the face to Chinese history. At least they tried to justify it by stating that he's a pirate, but it still feels like a cheesy cop-out.
-
When I get DW5, should I just get the original and not bother with expansions?
-
is there a difference between Original, Xtreme legends and empires?
EDIT:
http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/749/749968/vids_1.htmlDW 6? in 05?
and 1 image

I just saw some clips of Meng Huo, and yeah, I think he'll be a favorite.
-
@Cap'n:

The only one that's really an expansion is Xtreme Legends. Empires has the same engine as the original, but adds more strategy elements to the game. It kind of reminds me of that board game, Risk.
-
So in other words, just get DW5.
-
Empires sucks. It tries to be strategic, but there isn't really much strategy to it. Xtreme Legends is the only expansion worth getting, since each one usually adds new maps, new characters [sometimes], new weapons, and other nifty things.
-
Anyone a Ma Chou User here?
My favorite to use would probably be Zhou Tai or Zhou Yu.About Guan Ping, He uses a giant sword in his style, I don't get why people don't like Giant swords just because of one dumb thing. Though I remember reading from somewhere that the chinese also had a weapon Simular to the Giant sword made.
About new Characters, perhaps they will do the same with the other Dynasty Warriors and just build up on a person who isn't a main cast character. For example, Guan Ping was bigger than a grunt but not to be an Officer.
Anyone remember any small grunt names who could be possible new characters? -
Ma Chao is the cheapest bastard in Dynasty Warriors.
Can't stand giant swords, and never understood what was so interesting about them. Most giant swords are loosely based on the 16th century Zweihänder, which look absolutely nothing like Guan Ping's impossible-to-wield weapon.
As for new characters, there's plenty of people they could add, like Shamoke and Liu Chan.

wonder if CAW will be back

Ahaha, good one.
..though, I don't have any better suggestions, haha. I really would like to see Liu Chan, though. I wanna see what they'll do with his personality when he's a non-generic. But if they go with Liu Chan, wouldn't they have to go post Wu Zhang Plains? ..well, not necessarily.. they made stuff up for Sun Jian.. (he's supposed to die after his.. 2nd? stage. Maybe his first, lol. But he has.. 7? anyway)
A lot of people on gamefaqs seem to be pushin' for post WZP stuff..Edit: As far as favorites to use go, Zhuge Liang, Cao Pi, and Gan Ning are definitely at the top for me.
-
Ahaha, good one.
See all the females in the roster? See how they never actually did anything in history, aside from Zhu Rong? Yeah. That can apply to Shamoke too.
At least he actually did something, even if it was just one thing in the novel.
-
Judging from designs, some videso I've seen, and other tidbits, here are my preliminary favorite characters from each side:
Wei:
Pang De(Honorable Mentions: Zhang Liao, Xiahou Yuan, Xiahou Dun, amd Cao Ren, since a shield sword is awesome)
Shu:
Huang Zhong, with Zhuge Liang in a close second (it's a Giant Robo thing)(Honorable Mentions: Wei Yan, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu)
Wu:
Huang Gai, no contest(Sun Jian and Sun Quan as an honorable mentions, but that's it)
Other:
MENG HUO
Zuo Ci
