Ok from the start of One Piece to the Drum Island arc,I read the One Piece manga.
And then from Drum Island to Skypiea,I watched the Anime.
I was wondering if this is considered healthy if I want to fully enjoy the story. I mean there's not many differences besides fillers,right?
I'm probably in the minority, but I actually enjoy the anime more for the first 53 episodes. There's a bunch of differences in how they handled in the first couple chapters, I think they actually did the introduction of the story much better. After that it's only minor differences from what I remember for the rest of the 53 episodes.
That covers up to leaving Loguetown, btw.
But you're missing out on lots of cool voice acting, sound effects, and music. ;D
But to answer your question, there's no serious changes from Drum Island and on.

I watched the anime with subs up too the latest ep and then when they weren't coming out fast enough for me, I switched to the manga. 
and look at me, I'm not dead so it's not THAT unhealthy I guess.

whyt not both read the manga nad watch the anime? since the manga is the base material i would read it before watching the anime of the same chapters.
Both sides are great, I think the the manga is much substantial and rich, sometimes is more enjoyable than the anime but like Brook, the singing sworsdman said there are many cool effects you're missing out if you dont watch the series. I say that is healthier do both. (Sorry the bad grammar).
I watched the anime first until I was up to date, then started to read the manga as well. Both are excellent and it's fun to see how different manga chapters get turned into anime episodes.
I read the manga and watch the anime. I keep up to the latest manga chapters and RAW episodes. That works best for me, because I get all the motion, voice acting, color, etc., etc., but I also get the real Oda-ness and original filler-free storyline in the manga.

You should eventually read the manga chapters that you missed, 9 times out of 10 you'll find the manga to be better(like filler-less Alabasta). But it doesn't mean you have to do it now, for a while I switched between versons till I finished all the current chapters, than finished the remainder of the anime. Viewing both gives some perspective to both media and helps a person to enjoy them more for their given merrits.:happy:
probably the only difference is the timing. the timing was quicker in the beginning but has become slower more recently. why? Oda never thought One Piece would get so popular that he'd have to extend the story line.
It's mostly a matter of oppinion. On a genral basis, I prefer the manga form for almost everything, with rare exceptions…........like afro samurai....and Wolfs Rain.
Manga USUALLY is a better choice, since its more enjoyable imo, but find One Piece in japanese with subtitles, and you can save yourself from a shitty American dub.
I say manga.
With or without filler, good or poor animation, whatever, I always go with manga in any series. Even the fights I prefer manga 
but, you know, you loose Luffy's seiyuu if you don't watch the anime and that woman is a GENIUS O
As long as you don't watch the anime from eps 264 up, you're set to do whatever you want.
Personally I enjoy stuff better on the second time, but I dunno about others really.
read the manga cause that is what oda gives us to enjoy his journey to the OP-world….anime isn`so good in my opinion
Why's everybody so down about the anime on this site? Anyway, the anime is great, keep up with it, and read the manga, they are both good, I read the manga once I caught up, but they're both great, do what ever you want ma' man

I seriously have no idea, and was shocked to find out. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to step on any toes. IMO, the Anime does an EXCELLENT job of recreating the feel, composition, and emotional context of the source material. Many moments I feel are actually better with music, sound effects, and voice acting.
But yeah, alot of people think the anime=shit on this site and it blows my mind. There have many far worse interpretations, and I'm just glad that OP is animated at all. And in a fairly timely manner too.

the anime i think destroys the manga because it draws battles out more then needed just making it boring for everyone. i thought the luffy vs lucci was the worst one piece fight of all time (anime online, i loved the manga one)

I agree, when fights are spread out it sucks. Like I said, I don't think the Anime is better 100% of the time by any means, but I don't think it's anywhere near ''shit''. I think they do a great job with what they're given. The Anime isn't as good as it used to be, but I still think it's quite good.

Luffy vs Lucci could have been shorter, but it was still entertaining in my opinion, as well as the rest of Enies Lobby, but the anime doesn't destroy anything, as some people are saying, I don't understand that about this site

I experienced the horror of Kenshin first hand. In it's 3rd season they ran nothing but filler so the manga could get ahead. Well the filler was so bad that the series was cancelled, and I never got to see my favorite Kenshin arc animated. From that day on I've been grateful when I get to see my favorite mangas animated. And I'm even more grateful when they really nail the essence of the art and storytelling, which OP anime does IMO.

so thats why it ended all of a sudden i always thought thats how it ended in the manga too… maybe i should read the manga...
I remember Kenshin cutting off after the Shishio arc, and I was completely fine with that ending. Was there more after Shishio(Besides the OVAS, I've watched those)?
They are both great in my opinion, although i prefer the manga a bit more. And yeah, Luffy vs Lucci fight was too long in anime =\

Yep, there's an entire arc that was never fully animated. 5 minutes of scenes from this arc were in the 2 Part OVA and that's it.
Literally 1/3rd of the Kenshin story has not been told.
