The team behind Fox's hit animated show "Family Guy" has been considering a "Family Guy" movie down the line, creator Seth MacFarlane told The Hollywood Reporter.
He also said that "The Winner," which Fox pulled from its schedule earlier this year after six episodes, may not be dead yet. MacFarlane served as an executive producer on the comedy, which starred Rob Corddry.
"It is looking like there could be a future life for 'The Winner.' I hope it pans out," MacFarlane said, without providing specifics. "We have been trying to figure out how to do that and the series at the same time without the series suffering," he said about a potential "Family Guy" feature, adding that such a challenge also caused the delay in making a"Simpsons" film. (The animated family takes its big-screen bow on July 27, after almost 18 years on the air.)
One possible solution, according to MacFarlane, would be to have Ricky Blitt, the creator of "Winner" and a former writer for "Family Guy," start on the movie script.
But he emphasized that he has no plot ideas yet, and that Fox studio executives would have to sign off on a film project as well. "Nothing is official," he said, adding that if all things come together, a movie could be ready in a couple of years.
MacFarlane also said he would like to find a small story about the Griffin family, the central characters of "Family Guy," that can be explored in a feature-length film.
"I don't want to do 'The Griffins must save the world,"' he said.
MacFarlane talked to The Hollywood Reporter after a press conference here Saturday with many of his "Family Guy" colleagues, who were in town for "Family Guy Live" readings as part of the Just for Laughs comedy festival.
Asked in the press conference about "Family Guy" jokes concerning September 11 and terrorism and how difficult it is to pull them off, MacFarlane said he feels that enough time has passed for comedians to explore the issue carefully.
"People are sort of trepidatiously dipping their toe in it," with skits on "Saturday Night Live" and the like, he said. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

Family Guy Film?

For Christ's sake, just let it die already.
-
I watched literally 5 seconds of The Winner and swore off of it forever. That show is horrible.
I think the prospect of a Family Guy movie NOW is much worse than The Simpsons movie 18 years after it's introduction.
-
Movie kill tv franchise (unless they're already dead). Case in point, South Park.
-
Was the Jakoffasaur really that bad gaara d lucci
-
Oh god no. As much as I used to enjoy Family Guy, a movie with the quality (or lack thereof) of the recent FG seasons will suck hard.
-
It's the natural progression.
Funny TV show -> Unfunny TV show -> ??? Movie
(Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!)

Which is one (among many) reasons Futurama rocked.

I kinda like Family Guy, but alot of the jokes I don't understand due to the fact I haven't seen most of the movies and shows they constantly refrence too (I think they joked about the younger viewrs understanding the refrences in an episode once) Main problem for me with it is that alot of the time they overdue it with the jokes… But I love Stewie and used to like Brian until they decided to make him zoosexual and was given so many flaws.

man i swear every body on here hates family guy with a passion or is it just me

I know. Sometimes it seems everyone here hates the same thing.

Family Guy isn't even all that funny. The majority of the humor is either overly drawn out slapstick, or 80's nostalgia.
-
I don't really hate Family Guy, I liked the first couple of seasons (up to when it was canceled), but it just got boring and bland, and annoying to a certain point.
-
Up to this point, watching Family Guy is like watching Pokemon. It makes you feel nostalgic of the old eps and you die a little inside.

dude that was the lamest thing ive heard all day:wassat: man south park the movie was unbelivably awesome!
also didnt they already do a family guy movie ? ya know the one where stewie meet his future self or whatever…...

I think I love you.

I don't see any nw episodes these days. Well, last time I actually tried to watch it was in the Spring. It got good up to Season 3. Then boom.

Huh? With every season South Park has just become better. Early South Park episodes can't be even compared to awesomeness of what Stone and Parker has been putting together as of lately. Basicly, since the movie, it has become way more than just fart and cussing humour.
I don't think that I have ever even watched a single episode of Family Guy. I have seen just like few clips. So I can't say that I would really care about this movie. I still want to see the Simpsons movie, though.

The trick is to wait for someone to say their view first and if that person sounds confident, side with them.
(well it's better than just calling people hive minded D= )

Honestly, I think South Park for the past few years has been hit or miss. anything with some kind of half-brained political moral causes me to change the channel. The Lice episode was void of any humor and the 300 spoof was downright sad. Night of the Living Homeless and The Snuke were awesome, though.
As for Family Guy, here's a video I just found on youtube:
There's several other videos like that one too. Pretty funny.
-
I have enjoyed all of the South Park episodes in this season. On the otherhand the last season had that Oprah one which was pretty crappy. I can see how the more opinionated stuff could possibly turn off many but I would still say that quality of the show has been steadily rising (a lot) –- it may not always be about laught out loud humour but they can usually come up with really cleaver ideas, views and plots and that's usually enough to humour me. And, I dunno, perhaps I just have a soft spot for political satires, even when I don't agree with the views.
-
I agree with those who believe that South Park has progressed from the beginning seasons. There are a lot of episodes with really funny and/or clever plot lines and moral lessons. The best episode, imo, is Scott Tenorman Must Die.

I like Family Guy. I don't believe it should have a film, however (the Stewie Griffin movie was just 3 episodes put together; The season 4 finale).
Isn't the Futurama "movie" that comes out in Decemeber supposed take place 3 years after the series? I hope it doesn't suck …..
-
The entire premise of the family guy movie boils down too

The Snuke was the 300 spoof.
Wasn't the Snuke the 24 spoof?
and those simpsons to family guy comparisons are rather grasping. Most are just common themes that weren't even similar in execution, and that have probably been done many times before the simpsons and Family guy did it.
-
Snuke was a 24 spoof, yeah. I was kind of annoyed they decided to make a 24 spoof, but it didn't bug me because the episode was otherwise hilarious.
The 300 spoof was that godawful "Lezbos" episode where Mr. (or is it miss now? It's become too retarded for me to keep up with) ran a lesbian bar that had a rivalry with some Persian night club or something… yeah it was pretty bad.

wow I have never seen something liek this said before about Family Guy, here is a medal

Maybe it was all the 300 lovin' going on at the time, but I found the lesbos episode pretty amusing. I definately agee that South Park has gotten better since it's early days, although they do have their share of sucky episodes.
A Family Guy movie would be hard to make work, though it'd likely make millions. I mean I get a good laugh out of it every now and then, but the stuff they said on South Park is pretty true, all the jokes have no point to the plot, and they constantly have to remind viewers of exactly what the plot is.
That style works for half hour episodes, but 2 hours?
-
A Family Guy movie would be great,I always enjoy Family Guy i have been buying there DVDs
-

That's it. At the time the world was so saturated with shit about 300 that anything else would be unbearable to me. And that's pretty much how all of the gags went; "ha ha ha! slow motion! overdramatic speeches and narration! Just like that 300 movie guys!"
-
First half of the movie will probably be some Peter vs the chicken fight because we all know that's gonna be in the movie.
