Yes, it's that time: The Return to Liberty City. And goddamn, GTA never looked better.

The main character this time is Niko Bellic, an Eastern European man in his mid 30's invited to Liberty City by his cousin to live the "American Dream". However, the game seems to hint at him escaping a dark past…

It looks amazing so far. The visuals are top notch, and the dreaded "Waffle Hands" of other Rockstar Titles are finally gone. Cars take realistic damage to their frames, and Liberty City has been completely redone to resemble NYC more accurately.

Lots of new features are included, including Niko's Cell Phone, which has an organizer and an address book. Also, Niko has to actually hotwire the cars, so no more getting in and just driving off. You actually see him reach in, hotwire, and then take off with parked cars. You can even bust the windows of locked cars.

And the best part? No loading times. The game loads at the beginning, and that's it.

Things that aren't returning: Physique changing is out, as is Hairstyle. Ah well, was a waste of time anyway. Also, no Planes can be flown, but Helicopters can.

I have high hopes for this.

I hope it wont be like San Anreas with all the rpg like elements, like working out, having to eat and all that other stuff. I hope they go back to the old GTA formula, from GTA 3 and Vice City.

San Andreas was too tedious. You should be able to make your person "buff" when starting the game, without having to do non-interactive exercises for eons at a time.

Yeah, they stated flat out that you don't have to buff your guy. Also, Pay and Spray is gone; It'll actually show you a range on the radar that the cops can detect you over. If you escape that range and then do such things as lay low or change cars, that's how you eliminate your wanted level. Also, Pedestrians can and will report your actions if they see you.

No more Ammunation, either. You have to actually call Arms dealers and meet them at certain locations to get your weapons.

That calling Arms Dealer thing may get pretty damn tedious. I think they shoulda kept Ammunation. The other stuff is neat tho.

Congrads, u haven't even played the game yet, it could end up being a dating sim. But hey, just sayin.

Grand Theft Auto I was sort of fun.

PS2 games were okey but none of them couldn't entertain me more than a few hours. So I'm pretty reserved about this. At least it looks fun but the series has lost it's, er, shock value. If they overhaul gunplay altogether I might still be interested. There was a GTA IV thread already, by the way.

I always liked how the games desperately tried to put you through missions, when all you wanted to do was run around and kill shit. But that gets really old really fast.

And yeah, the 2d GTA games were a lot of fun.

Yeah, GTA2 was pretty awesome IMO. I liked it Waaaaayy more than Driver 2.

Anyways, I hope they address many of the problems with the game like the aiming. And an improved hand to hand combat system would be nice (hopefully like The Warriors).

One thing I'm gonna miss tho is the old GTA universe. I really liked a lot of the characters from that world. I hope this new verse still has that GTA charm.

Wait so are they removing the free roaming abilities in this one? Or is it just severely limited by not being able to have a gun, the city limits and other such mission tediums?

No, they're totally revamping this one. Shit you do outside of missions actually affects the missions themselves. And you can enter most major buildings, even throw people from the roof. And the WTT are in the game, removing any reference to 9/11.

And it's for XBox360 and PS3.

Indeed. PS3 really needed something to help sells (even tho It's on 360 too), this is not good for Sony. But I guess if it's to make the game better, I'm fine with the delay.
