Guilty Gear 2: Overture
-
-
What the hell is this?
is it finally a sequel?
-
So that's a spinoff ala Soul Calibur Legends uh?
What the hell is the new guy supposed to fight with? A flag?
-
HOLY FUCK YES EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Obsessive squealing aside, it looks pretty neat. Sin looks a bit too much like Ky [or might be Ky in an alternate timeline], but fighting with a flag is savage.
-
Hrm. Interesting. I'll agree with previous statements: Flag fighter = awesome. Looking exactly like Ky = not so awesome. I'm honestly glad it's not a 3-d fighter. Hopefully this is more like a beat-em-up done right. Aside from Godhand, 3-D beat-em-ups have well…sucked hard.
-
I just hope there's other characters playable.
Like Kliff, since this is during Sol's Holy Order heyday.
-
Yeah, wonder what kind of older characters we'll get to see. Slayer and Kliff will probably make an appearance, as well as That Man and Justice.
Leopaldon needs to start making more appearances. He/she was such an excellent character design.
-
Yeah, Leopaldon's awesome. A mode where you play as him and ravage everything would be awesome.
-
Wait, do we even know that this is during the past? It could easily be an alternate timeline, or very far into the future. Sin looks so much like Ky that he could easily be a Ky that has abandoned his close-minded past and has welcomed the "Sin" of men, despite how utterly corny that is.
That, and "Keep the Flag Flying" was the latest Sol vs. Ky theme, sooooooooooo.
-
360? Awwwww.
Looks awesome tho. Can't wait to see more of this title.
and I'm assuming it's in the past from the lack of the Jinki being in Sol and "Ky's" possession.
this does explain gohn's seemingly random revival of the guilty gear thread tho.
-
Here's everything we know:
"Only on the Xbox 360.
Guilty Gear 2 Overture is not a fighting game at all but an action title with adventure elements
When in contact with enemy units, the battle then becomes more synonymous to a 3D fighting game.
Guilty Gear 2 Overture is currently 80% complete, but no release date has yet been announced.
Guilty Gear's poster boy, Sol Badguy, looks to be taking center stage in Overture and is being joined by a newcomer, Sin, who bares quite the resemblance to fellow cover child Ky Kiske, among others - referred to as "Masters" in this game.
Playing as Sol Badguy, your goal is to destroy an enemy stronghold known as the Master Ghost.
In addition to the combat, the game includes a strategy component. During battle, you can open up a briefing window. From here, you can plan your strategy for the battle field as a whole, placing orders for new units and sending orders to your current set of units."
-
Oh no, is it a RTS that plays out battles like an action/fighting game?
Those end up really sucking as strategy plays little to no part in it.
-
If there's no way to get Faust in on this and acting like the crazy mofo he is, I'm only minimally interested.
-
Faust probably isn't even alive yet, so.
-
@Cyringohn:
Faust probably isn't even alive yet, so.
INTEREST-O-METER:
Before you said that:
___ After you said that:
-
theres always unlockable characters / downloadable content
so its DMC + Guity Gear…....IM DOWN
-
DMC had a strategy aspect?
and yes, pre-fetal Faust ftw.
-
-
They could always just add characters that aren't supposed to be alive or current.
Order-Sol is in the fighting games, and he's obviously doesn't exist in the current era.
-
Wasn't Kliff in the order around the same time as Sol, or am I mistaken?
-
Yes, he was. In fact, Kliff didn't die until after Sol had left.
Funny fact: As a boy, Kliff was saved from drowning by Sol Badguy.
-
Finally, they're doing something to finally move the story along. Can't wait till they localize this.
So far, it's possible for I-no, Slayer, and Axl (through time-travelling) to make an appearance in this game, which will hopefully make up the lack of Faust. But still, Slayer could be the only character to make a cameo and I would still love this game.
-
List of characters that could actually fit into the timeline:
-Sol Badguy
-Sin
-That Man
-Justice
-Testament
-Kliff
-Axl Low
-Slayer
-I-No
-Gabriel
-Raven and Leopaldon are possible, since we don't know when they were "created." -

Looks like Ky Kiske might just be the antagonist.
Moreover, this also is beginning to look like it takes place in the future, not the past. Therefore, maybe we'll be able to see any and all Guilty Gear characters.
ZAPPA RTS FUCK YES MAMAMAMAMAMA
-
Looks like an awesome game. I wonder how everything will be considering this isn't the standard Guilty Gear.
Sadly this is only for the 360 huh? -
Right now, yeah. Since it's on the 360, it could always become a PC port.
-
@Cyringohn:
ZAPPA RTS FUCK YES MAMAMAMAMAMA
Eh? Did i miss something? Or are you just excited at the prospect of Zappa possibly being in.
-
I was kinda looking forward to more insight into the holy order days, but oh well, it's new GG story.
-
@Cap'n:
Eh? Did i miss something? Or are you just excited at the prospect of Zappa possibly being in.
Just excitement.
It feels good to know that we have a chance to see/use characters like Zappa and Faust, is all. That, and we'll also get to see if they've changed any. Ky obviously let his hair grow out and looks a bit older.
-
-
Wow, That Man's identity might be revealed?
Maybe I'll invest in that 360 sooner than I thought I would…
-
Looking pretty good.
Though Ky's new design is kinda retarded. He looks… hydrocephalic.
-
Looks like Ky is even more obsessed with hope than before.
-
I like how much more adorned and exaggerated his outfit is.
He's like the super battle Pope.
-
Giant sharp denim flag is still one of the greatest weapons ever conceived.
-
If this is really in the future (I didn't read the scans), but that kind of disappoints me because it means we can't see Kliff in the game… at least not in a "canon" way.
-
So no more 2d fighters(besides upgrades of XX)?
either way, yea, I think this may have just pushed me to get a 360.
-
I hope this game will be able to seg-way the franchise into a brand new title for the fighters.
-
So no more 2d fighters(besides upgrades of XX)?
Nobody ever said that. If anything, we'll need them to fill the gap between Guilty Gear XX and Guilty Gear 2.
But yeah, denim flag fighting is Frawress Victoly.
-
I hope so.
but if this does well, I doubt they'd just leave it at that and not make a sequel.
-
The Guilty Gear 2-D fighters are waaaaaaaaaaaay too much of a fucking cash cow to let go. Sammy'll never give them up.
But yeah, hopefully, this game'll do very well.
-
Hey look, new characters.
-
I miss Gohn :(
And the fuck? Little goth chick who fights with a hot air balloon (I guess, ok I admit that's kinda cool), and a furry samurai? I kinda like that dragon guy, though.
FURFAGS INVADIN GUILTY GEAR
-
Dragon dude is a doctor apparently.
but yea, all I can say about the bearded dude is yaoi bait. (ASUMA!!!!)
and this thread just isn't right without Gohn.
-
Yeah, I know. I figured this info was going to be posted already.
SEE THAT MODS? ONLY BY BANNING GOHN COULD I BEAT HIM TO THE PUNCH.
Sadfaces inserted here.
-
The dragonkin is named Dr. Paradigm. He's definitely the best looking character, by far. Valentine [the female] looks alright, but Izuna [the generic samurai with HAIR SHAPED LIKE KITSUNE EARS] is almost the dumbest character ever created in any form of media.
Despite Dr. Paradigm looking interesting, none of these new characters really stand up to how awesome Zappa, Slayer, I-No, Bridget, and Robo-Ky were, when they first appeared. Oh, and Leopaldon. What a savage boss.
-
Yeah, I hope there's more, cooling looking characters. Daisuke and them can do much better, damn it.
-
"Doesn't seem to be much story info about the characters out yet beyond what you can guess from the screenshots, but Valentine's profile (http://www.gpara.com/comingsoon/guilygear2/0831/62.php) says her birthdate and hometown are unknown, and that she doesn't have any likes, dislikes or hobbies. She's described as behaving like an emotionless doll. The giant balloon she carries is called Lucifero.
It also gives her height, weight and blood type (165 cm, 45 kg and O type). She's obviously one of the villains, though I'd guess probably not the main villain. Izuna and Dr. Paradigm look like they may be more friendly, but we'll have to wait until there's more info out to know for sure."
From Dustloop forums.
So yeah, her giant balloon is named Lucifer.
-
Dunno if she's a villain (the text on that site might state otherwise), but she's definitely playable. And she looks like fun.
And it looks like Paradigm might be playable too? I hope so, that'd be fun.
-
Every antagonist in Guilty Gear, aside from Order-Sol, has been female, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Valentine was the villain in this game.
