I have been reading bleach for years, but I still don't understand what the name signifies. Usually a name has something to do withthe manga, naruto=main character, but i just don't understand what it means. I don't quite think it has much to do with lightening the colors of shirts or uncloging drains.
Bleach's name?

You don't need to create a new topic for this kind of thing.
In a nutshell, its Ichigo's job as a soul reaper to go put and perform soul burials on wayward souls, cleansing the spirits (like bleach on clothes) and send them to the Soul Society.
-
They call it Bleach because all the character from YuYuHakusho got new wardrobe and bleached their heads.
-
It's all an ad for Clorox. Most people don't notice it the first time through the series, but if you watch it again you'll see all the clues.
-
Because you want to splash bleach in your eyes after figuring out that the story should just be renamed Ichigo & Katana.
-
Also, the main character's hair is bleach blonde.
-
The truth: It's named after a nirvana album :

-
Smartsy move naming it after a grunge band.

It's still bleach color.

I always thought of it as orange. Artist reffers to it as "Orande" which Im assuming isn't a misspelling and instead a pun on Orange and Blonde.
Anyways, I don't think it was ever stated that Ichigo even bleached his hair.
-
His hair is natural, but notice how I never said he bleached his hair.
-
Because "Detergent" didn't sound as good.
-
His hair may be natural, but many thugs bleached their hair and people assume he did.
-
Wha? Why do thugs bleach their hair?
Sounds VERY tuff and thuggish

Those are some interesting replies so I guess no one really does know.
O well.
