Your Top 5 Worst/Best Filler Moments/Episodes/Arcs

After reading this article posted on animeonline (today), I thought it would be interesting to see what your Top 5 Worst/Best Filler Moments/Episodes/Arcs would be. Here's mine:

Top 5 Worst
5 - Goku's Spaceship still working (DBZ Episode 18): There's no way that a spaceship would still work so well after 18 or so years of no use. Plus it was later used in the anime, contradicting it's destruction by Piccolo.
4 - Naruto and friends do a Scooby-Doo (Naruto Episode 194): This episode just plain sucks. I've seen better Scooby-Doo.
3 - Straw Hats help some old man and his goats (One Piece Episodes 136-138): This was the sort of arc that should of only been a episode. It's very long and not very entertaining in any way.
2 - Naruto: The New Homer Simpson (Naruto Episode 151): They spend 4 episodes going after a bug and what does he do? Farts. Naruto may act dumb but no way is he this stupid.
1 - Fu*k you, Chopper! (One Piece Episode 212): Just when Luffy has the chance to win Chopper back from Foxy, what does he do? He picks the f**king horse! This is so OOC that Toei should just really ask the author for fillers. At least Oda would care about Chopper.

5 - Thinking of a better one (): An
4 - Kakashi's face revealed! (Naruto Episode 101): Based on three pages by the author, this is a very fun episode which ends nicely too. Better than 95% of all the Naruto Fillers (136-220)
3 - Full Metal Alchemist meets Lupin the 3rd(FMA Episode 10): This episode which features a Zenigata look-a-like plus Syrin was an instant win. It's a fun episode to watch.
2 - Goku and Piccolo learn how to drive (DBZ Episode 125): Sano's right! This one is awesome!
1 - Straw Hats in G8 (One Piece Episodes 196 -206): The Starw Hats landing in a base full of Marines? Excellant! With likable characters and with a real One Piece feel to it, this should of been in the manga.

1. Doma arc, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. Now there was filler done right. I actually like it more than most of the manga arcs.
2. G8 arc, One Piece. Not much else to say.

1. Goku and Piccolo going to driving school (DBZ Episode 125) - One of the most funniest filler ever.

2. Rurouni Kenshin: Son of God Saga/Shamabla Saga (RK: Episodes 67-76) - I'm probley one of the few people that acturally really enjoy this story arc of Kenshin. In my opinion it's probley the best of the Kenshin filler.

3. Bleach: Bount Arc (Bleach Episodes 64-109) I can say these episodes had a rough start, but it ended up great and intersing.

4. Inuyasha Vs. Momji and Boton (Inuyasha: Episdoe 63) Some of the most random moments ever in the Inuyasha anime.

5. Kakashi's face revealing (Naruto: 101) - Some of the craziest moments ever in Naruto.

Worst

1. Rurouni Kenshin - The Feng Shung Arc (Episodes 89-94) The worst filler I ever seen in my life.

2. Outlaw Star - Invasion of the Catus monster (Outlaw Star Episode 13 - Advance Guard from Another World) -All I will say is Ice Cream.

3. Dragon Ball Z: Ivan Ooze Meets a Super Saiyan (DBZ Movie 11- Bio Brolly) What consider to be the worse DBZ movie ever, and they are right this movie is gabage.

4. One Piece: The Chopper Screw Job (One Piece 212) We all agree what the hell Luffy was thinking.

5. Tenchi Universe - (Tenchi Universe Episode 19) Two idoits steals a spaceship, when Grandpa and Nobuyaki didn't even notice. While Sesami and Ayeka are left behind by everyone at the Space diner place.

I don't think I ever have, nor ever will again, agree with you as much as I do about that statement.

and I didn't think luffy picking the horse was an OOC moment in the DBF arc. I thought that was rather in character as they took literal meaning of "That horse is mine".

What I saw as out of character was when luffy said "LETS PLAY AGAIN!!!" after winning his friends back. Luffy isn't one to bet his friends for fun, even if he's confident he will win.

the goat seck arc in one piece was not the worst for me…i thought it was pretty amusing since the whole arc made no sense...

Haha..forgot about it. I liked episode 124 too, it brought a little development to Bulma and Vegeta relationship.

Another very good one. Dunno if i would enjoy it today (god knows how many years ago i watched it), but the Amakusa arc was really interesting, easily the best RK filler.

5.Fullmetal Alchemist(11-12): The Elirc Brothers' impersonators

4. Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule Monsters (In it's entirety): I know this was a spin-off series done by 4Kids, but it was unbelievably lame. I'm so glad Little Kuriboh decided to mock how this whole series was basically a long commercial.

3. One Piece (212): Chopper gets rejected for a horse! It was so out-of-character for Luffy to pick Sherrie over Chopper.

2. One Piece, Rainbow Mist (136-143): Seeing Sanji get beaten by a guy in an old-timey Eva.

1. Rurouni Kenshin, final filler arc: I've never even read the manga, but the whole idea of Feng Shui warriors seemed a bit out of place.

Best

Dragonball Z: Goku and Piccolo take the driving test. For a filler, this was pretty funny, especially seeing the clothes piccolo was wearing.

One Piece: G8. This was the only filler arc I liked. It was fun seeing the crew disguised as Marines.

Detective Conan: Conan and the Detective Boys do "Home Alone". It's nice to see that they broke away from the murder cases that are in most of the series.

Most of the shit they added to the Davy Backfight was rubbish. Especially all of those crappy looking exgtras they threw in, like cheetahman. I liked how he and the other people never got any explanation for their abilities.

I thought the skating game in DBF was mildly entertaining, but cheetahxote or whatever was pretty lame. The Apis arc and the goat thing were absolutely terrible, as are most of the Naruto fillers.

The Logue Town "fillers" were good, I'd like to see more of that type of thing.

Zatch Bell Ending filler: Not only did this shit end in Filler but it ended in cliffhanger as well…

Bleach: No Bleach filler is good, just too many characters and nothing ever intersting enough to look at.

Keroro Gunso: I know they have to improvise since there are only 14 volumes but the last 10 episodes have been pure crud...

Pretty much everything Hokuto No Ken did to extend Shin's shitty time in the manga. Colonel worshipping Shin as God = no.

I remember a certain episode of of FMA where they show Barry in his human form ( I didn't expect him to look like that.) and Ed was so scared of him and I always thought if Ed would actually be scared since he did that training stuff Izumi. Also I want to know, CAN SOMEONE USING A SCREW DRAW A PERFECT AND SMALL TRANSMUTATION CIRCLE WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE CHAIN?

Oh I never saw a great filler or good filler only ok and down.

5. D. Gray-Man mini-filler hell: Augh, such a nice series got bogged down with shit. The Akuma, demonic hell machines that kill humans to grow stronger, got more and more ridiculous as this went on. The Dustpan and Broom one made me skip the entire episode of 30... something. Don't care. It picked up and got good though, even taking bits out of the creator's book to explain Kanda, Daisya, and Suman's past more.

4. Davy Back crap: Ugh... While Luffy failing at roller skating was funny, it was horrible. Chopper's 2 Rumble ball bit was prolly the most infamous part. Oh, right... Foxy getting smacked by those dodgeballs was HILARIOUS!!!

3. Infamous Naruto Filler Hell: Believe it.

2. Shaman King filler: Screwing up the storyline on the way to America and stuff stuck in my craw. Boris in a movie theater? FAIL.

1. The entire series of Yu-Gi-Oh: So many flashbacks... AUGH!!!

5. The magic mirror arc from Gash Bell/Zatch Bell: I really liked it fomr some reason. The Cat was cute, ya know?

4. Episode 37 of FullMetal Alchemist: Non-Haunted Haunted warehouse, Riza having erotic fantasies, Mustang being outsmarted by a dog, and Havoc's brain being taken by aliens is full of win.

3. G8: Hadn't gotten that far in the manga at first, so I didn't even realize that it was filler... SANJI'S DATE WITH NAMI, PART TWOOOOOOO!!!!

2. Kakashi's face in Naruto 101: Behind my mask is... another mask. See? The entire episode with the signboards and snow and exploding ramen was too much.

1. D. Gray-Man episode 18: An overprotective brother follows his sister to make sure she's not being stalked, and ends up destroying France with two giant robots (the first one exploded) flying Yoshii(the series mascot, a silly looking rabbit) bombs, and an Octopus Cannon, which the main character is hit by and spends the whole episode trying to remove the resulting "Tako-Chan" from his head. He succeeds, only to reveal a smaller one...

5. Cowboy Bebop's Mushroom Samba: I LOLed at Spike and the talking Toad. Ein acting like a clockwork dog was equally hilarious.

4. Tenchi Muyo OAV: Here Comes the Baby!: Among other things in this episode, Mihoshi trying to change a diaper killed me.

3. Trigun: Under the Sky so Blue: Although the Manga ending was better, the final anime episode of Trigun was awesome. Knives and Vash's duel was one of the best animated I've seen in a while.

2. One Piece: Surpass You: Although it wasn't the best drawn episode, Crocodile's defeat in both the manga and the anime was epic.

1. Cowboy Bebop: The Real Folk Blues Part 2: No Anime Episode will EVER, EVER come close to the sheer awesome of this.

The anime got far ahead of the manga, so they had to basically make up their own story. So, filler.

And a lot of the things you listed aren't even filler.

There can be a few things, like episodes obviously there to stall for time, or "clip shows."

For example, Trigun had an episode that was pretty much a bunch of flashbacks strung together.

Just because an episode has a different theme from some others or doesn't follow a "storyline" doesn't make it filler. Bebop's Mushroom Samba isn't by any means filler, and I honestly don't consider Bebop to have any filler.

well, I think the term "filler" as we use it, comes from filling in time between manga arcs, when the anime can't go any further since it will pass the manga.

When you have no intention of following the anime anymore, I don't think what you have is filler.

and for the same reasons why Eva and Naruto are seen as "really deep", people think crying = Deep insight into human emotion.

That's not true. You ever read Shooting Star? It was the original Manga for CBB. Spike was different, he had black hair and it wasn't a funky afro, they got Ed before they got Ein, and their main villian was Scorpion Niagel, who was the 12 year old Mafia Boss of the Dragon's Head Mafia.

It was written by Kain Cuga, but got cancelled after the 2nd volume.

Even Manga have filler, the best example is the endless series known as Inuyasha, exploited to the point that it became the lamest of the current serie. Gash bell also had a filler, when Gash was saved from a Lion by the weird squirrel toothed demonic girl, wich name I forgot, but that was simple filler, not having any kind of impact in the story, besides pointing out a crush that in later chapters became pretty much obscure.

Best Moment?

When Luffy did his little speech of Nakama before owning Blueno with Gear Second…

Dragonball Z is particularly notorious for producing a shitload of bad filler. Really, most of the fight scenes themselves are filler; the manga never drew them out THAT much, though there was still a lot of fighting.

But the filler episodes themselves were mostly awful. I think the worst offenders would be anything involving Gohan prior to Vegeta and Nappa landing, Bulma's Namek Adventures, and Garlic fucking Jr. There's a bunch of miscellaneous episodes that were pretty terrible (like the one where Goku is gathering Dragonballs, and keeps pestering some mob Tao Pai Pai's working for in order to get it, the Ginyu Tokusentai vs. the dead losers) but I don't feel like remembering and posting them all.

One DBZ filler I'll admit I kind of enjoyed was the After-life tournament, partially because it was so bizarre. There were a lot of stupid parts, and it was pretty funny/sad how much of a bland Piccolo clone Paikuhan was, but it was mostly pretty good, especially compared to the other banal shit that happened inbetween arcs.

4. Pokemon Orange Islands Arc.
5. DBZ driving school.
6. Asgard in Saint Seiya. FAAAAR better than Poseidon.
7. The Mamoru Oshii filler episodes of Uruseiyatsura. Those are BY FAR better than anything on the source material and other "canon" episodes of the show.
   Hell, even now those are better than 90% of japanese animation in general!
   The "who killed cock robin" episode, the two part lum amnesia episodes and ataru's mom acid trip still give me the chills because of how good they are.
   How did he manage to put that stuff on tv? Damn he's just an awesome guy…

Most of you already said them, but i'll add one that really deserves the top spot:

1. The Island part of Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water. Really cheap episodes on what is otherwhise an excellent series. Even the drawings were BAD and I mean BAAAAD, done by koreans on crack.
