What kind of manga series would you make? Me, I would make a ninja-themed magical girl genre.
If you were a manga-ka….
-
-
Hard SF, with an introspective on human tragedy and how it can be avoided.
-
A humor based series that is completely and ridiculously over the top.
I've always had a thing for series that are completely insane, so naturally I'd want to make one.
-
When I'm thinking of ideas (which I never get around to executing), it's generally cartoony supernatural shounen stuff based around some sort of unusual setting or concept.
I like to do mythology themed stuff too.
-
A heavy-hitting brawler with plenty of humor and wacky designs, but lots of violence and people getting their shit ruined. No magical bullshit, other than a few supernatural things.
Which is what Gohn's manga is going to be, anyway. Need to finish designing the characters.
-
A sports/action manga with a lot of comedy thrown in with lot's of funny characters.
-
Probably a deep psychological series that has a few bits of humor and insanity thrown into the mix. Plus bright seizure inducing colors and color combinations with a side of various fauna that looks like it was attacked by a rabid painter on crack. >D
-
An over the top action series starring a wacky old man who fires energy bursts from his fingertips and changes hats every other chapter.
-
I would make a manga with lots of comedy,Pop culture referenes,Action, and lots of fanservice
-
Technology level of today minus cars, planes, and motorized transportation. Firearms are illegal, and swords and knives are the standard weapon. Magic, four races, (all of which would possess unique powers) and great nations with honorable leaders with great power. Realistic physically explainable situations, and epic fights with over the top, yet realistic maneuvers. Throw in quirky characters with varying personalities and flaws, and that's my adventure manga.
In all honesty, I'm working on it right now. Just ask if you want any details.
-
Mix of some tsundere/moe/action/shounen/swordaction/gunkata/romance/comedy genre manga is something I'd make. Hell, I already made a title for it: Night of the Crimson Sky.
-
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The enemy in my manga would be an evil lolita crime syndicate led by a robot of some sort.

Hey, if you ever want to compare ideas and/or art, just send a PM or whatever. You seem to have an idea of what you're doing, and it might be fun to compare.
-
I'm working on my own manga too! My manga would also have alot of tributes to other manga like Bobobo does.
-
I wouldn't be, cause I'm American. I'd be a "Comic Book Author".
And I already have that all planned out, working on improving myself so I can one day produce it.
-
If I were a Mangaka…
My series would be humor/slight action/. It Would be called "Paper * Plastic", and the main character would be a bag boy (Customer Service Specialist). His friends would be a hobo hired as a janitor, computer saavy checker, and a smart-mouthed assistant manager.
My job occupation is bagger at a grocery store, and if I could write about all the crazy ass situations I've been through, my series would be pure gold. Midnight cart races through the parking lots, a game of wits with the resident bitch customer, trying to wrangle a bat from the loading dock, ice fights, coining a phrase at the beginning of the day and then have everyone saying it without you knowing,.... I could go on.
'twould be like a mix of Pyuu to Fuku: Jaguar, Yakitate!! Japan, and Golden Boy (without the hot womens).

I've been working on a series for a few years. I'm starting to get a grasp on the final versions of characters, plot lines, designs, how the world works. I won't lie, I've definately taken influences from my favorite shonen series Galaxy Express 999, One Piece, Dragonball (pre-Z), and even Pokemon (thought Pokemon mainly comes into play with my art style, which I definately based my style off of initially when I started drawing)
I really just like the romanticsm, the sense of adventure, quirky characters, and crafting a world that has it's own rules. I usually like to play more in reality when I film stuff (wants to be a filmmaker) but if I had my own comic series I'd do something more shonen, and more crazy.
My series is set in a steam-punk world (much like One Piece, or Pokemon) that combines the modern and older design styles. My characters are free lance adventurers who take on any job that comes their way (a catylyst for their adventures) Definately follows the Galaxy Express and One Piece style "go to location, do stuff, go to next location, repeat" but without the straight-forwardness of the Grand Line, or the Space railways. Think Cowboy Bebop but in a bit more typical shonen fashion. I like crazy over the top abilities and powers that wouldn't work in the real world.
I've got the main characters figured out, as well as the badguys for the first 3-ish arcs, and some supporting cast as well. Right now I'm drawing it, and figuring out the smaller details and things like that for the beginning of the series.

Every story I want to tell tied together in a pseudo fictional history scrawl that all gets tied together in the end as one.
So far thsi includes,
-An ace pilots thing
-A nightmarish psychological confrontation with a serial genocider
-Several political war dramas
-Two kingdoms being manipulated into wiping eachother out
-A story about isolation and provincialness
-A story using space travel as metaphor for escaping reality
-A story where a hedonistic good for nothing prince ends up securing peace in the world for after his kingdom gets annihilated by other people.
-A story about religous dogma and centrist politics
-A soldiers eye view war epicAll wrapped up in the end by a revolution on God.
-
-
a Adventure manga with lots of randomness and suspense, a little humor and some drama.
sort of a mix of Lupin III,One Piece, Inuyasha, and Bo X7
-
Mine would be the ridiculous adventures of a shy communist drug-addict doctor war hero who lives in a cop's basement and is haunted by origami.
-
An epic drama, something on the lines of death note, but more along the lines of mythology.
I want to draw something that is serious and yet has that comedic relief from time to time to relieve the tension
-
I would pen all my manga in my own blood, but make it a happy-sappy kids manga, like Hello Kitty, or something. Also, no one would ever know it's drawn in my own blood. Not until it's reached massive popularity, and I'm enterring retirement, at which time I would reveal the secret with sinister glee, and cackling laughter.
-
Guess we haven't learned from Sideshow Bob.
-
@Roz:

That idea will get you places.
-
Fantasy series using various types of mythology. Whether it'd be classified as shounen or seitei I'm unsure. I'm actually outlining such a series at the moment…
Another type of series I'd like to do is a Super Sentai series. I just think it'd be cool to try out.
-
Something with candy, jump rope, and underground caves.
-
@Roz:
Mine would be the ridiculous adventures of a shy communist drug-addict doctor war hero who lives in a cop's basement and is haunted by origami.
I would totally read this, Roz.
Mine would probably be a some sort of artsy slice of life thing.
-
Probably some dark fantasy crap with DBZ like powerlevels and mountains blowing up… Basically generic garbage taking itself way too seriously for its own good.
-

This will be awesome.

Which is the best way to do things.
-
Are you guys just making stuff up as you go along?
-
@Pirateguywithapplepie:
A sports/action manga with a lot of comedy thrown in with lot's of funny characters.
I'm also making one about two brothers and their friends who follow their insane evil science teacher to a strange land with 10 warring kingdoms. And they steal an airship and have wacky adventures. Man…I have too many ideas.
-
MY manga would be something like FMA.
-
@Don:
Are you guys just making stuff up as you go along?
That's how stories are written… you make them up as you go along.
-
I always wanted to do a story from the non-human species perspective… probably sort of an occupation theme-- you wouldn't love the leads (their ultimate dream is for the few surviving humans to have their backs permanently bent in submission) but you'd understand and relate to their emotions and events.
-
I wonder how many people are actually gonna make their mangas…........
-
I'd make a manga about a jar of mayonaisse that just sits there. I would get the most recongnized mangaka to cosign it so people will buy it no matter how lame it is.
Oh, and Shino's Drug Dealing Adventures too.
-
-
Mine would be about..
Uhmm..
some random girl who got her village of freak nature loving people that lived with talking bears destroyed after some albino bitch who everyone believe is some good kind of a chosen one ordered so, then it would change to some flashback explaining BLABLABLA, death of some omnipotent puppeter being, BLABLBALBLA, thousands of star like things sent flyign around the world, BLABLABLABLA, Random creatures getting random powers, Blablabla, untill some part where whiny annoying character who I would dump later would met the main character, some freak boy who gives a damn about anyone's problems and a tomboy chick who, BLABLABLA, gets owned later so badly, so Blablablabla, Freak boy becomes stronger, and, Blablablabla, he crushes Albino's crystal castle and most of her body with some Propelling, then Bamming like a Meteor after being owned so badly like five times cuz she was light and he Negative energy based, so, BLABLABLA, we dump boring character to add better characters, and story keeps going untill, BLABLABLABLA, most of the random beings die, so bleh…
So it would be mainly about how Mr.Igiveadamnaboutyourlife and Hyper bipolar tomboy chick gets in a quest of do what they want when they want, and then meet some girl who gained to helluva amazing power of being the unluckiest being in the entire universe, plus more freaks, and they will grow together like some kind of psuedo bunch of friends, so blah! <_<
Or I could make a Manga about....
A Crockroach travelling around the world, or some shit like that involving the fucked up side of the human civilization, and without any words or effects at all, so I could sell it to any person in the world, bleh.
-
I want to see a short series about the noble hero who's trying to acquire magical artifact of great power…. but then in the last chapter only wants it for a comically absurd reason, like "I want the powder that restores life, because I've heard it's good seasoning for fried chicken".
-

sounds like a hentai…

Sounds like the already finished Blue Dragon.
Hero's goal was to protect Women's breasts, pretty neat, uh?

So… You'd make a furry comic?
-
Why does "non-human leads" mean "furry"?
To me, that always seemed a big flaw of sci-fi… it's so frequently from the human perspective. If we're one species in a big universe, why isn't it as valid to see the Klingon perspective?

Because to people on the internet all non-human species equal furry and furry just isn't cool to people on the interwebs though anthropormorphic creatures would be interesting to include as a sub species in a vast world of humans and other such creatures.
Seriously I don't get the hate.
-
Maybe I'll write a story about it. Or a series of short stories. The story and cast have been floating around in my head for a while, but there's no way in hell I'd have the patience to draw all that. Maybe illustrate a scene or a few scenes. More likely just write them down.
You can't tell me that I'm the only person who has a weird alternate universe floating in their head in which they stalk unusual characters.
-
I just have something clear.
Maou Judgemento: Issengan Tempesto! Would be a Killer barrage of One thousand punches in my Manga, wich mixes words in Esperanto and Japanese that literally mean "Demon King Judgement: One thousand Guns Tempest". :P
-
Something about marital arts, secret societies, ghosts, and pirates or ninjas… Wait! Pirate-Ninjas!... WAIT! GAR Pirate-Ninjas with Giant mechs! Yyeeaahh, that's the good stuff.
-
Bostro.
Just… Bostro.
