It was a file titled "Scrap", the icon was a pic of paper with it being ripped at the bottom and a yellow mark through the middle of it. The file was a little over 3mbs…I didn't take a screen cap I just deleted it after scanning it with AVG.

The file was in the middle of my desktop not by anything else....I don't know where this came from....and it's worrying me that a file just appeared out of no where.

No, the AVG test showed nothing. AVG hasn't found ANYTHING for a while.

So, was it nothing but a Trojan? At least that's what I got with my crappy english. 😛

Anyways, could you guys help me?

You see, I also have a "mysterious file" >registryboosterplc<, and everytime I attempt to delete it I get a message telling me that is either used by another person or a program, so what could it be? The last that I remember is that I was running an "online virus scanning", and I accidentally cancelled it out of a sudden, and then I got that file in my deskop, wich has an "blank window" icon and can't be even activated because is not a "valid application", pretty much like most unfinished downloaded files, but It can't be deleted for the later reasons.

So, what can I do? Is there a way to restore my the system checking of "Ctrl+Alt+Delete"? For some reason, It only displays the status of the user, and it would help if I could actually see if there's actually a program using said "annoying file", or anything out of the ordinary for that matter.

Phew, happy I didn't open it. So, me simply dragging it into my recycling bend and deleting it took away all harm it could have, correct?

And how the hell did I get it? And how it was just placed in the middle of my desktop like that.

                    Oh wow. That's scary.
                    Good for you Buuhan.

Kaimei, didja try System Restore? Also, I think there was this shortcut that enables deleting ALL of the files you want, no matter how busy it is. Or maybe it was a program. But like in the site you gave, did you first check with WordPad if it's dangerous or not?

It's just an unfinished download, and no, it's not dangerous, just some program that I needed for an Online Scan. I may try to finish it, and then delete it…

Don't you happen to remember what shortcut/program was it?

Get whichever one you want, unfortunately I really forgot the name.

Well, seriously, Unlocker is actually more useful than I tought. I didn't know there was a program like that. 😛
