For some reason my PC freezes up when I use it, it usually happens 20-30 minutes after I log in, it happens when I have a window open, and after I try closing the window everything else is unresponsive, crtl+alt+del does nothing. I've done three different virus scans with no results.
My PC is an HP Pavilion slimline with AMD Athlon 64 X2 dualcore processor running Vista Home Premium.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My thoughts are:
It's a laptop, Vista(being home PREMIUM) takes up most of the hard drive space, and you possibly have memory leaks in the OS.
Or it's just HP's crappy computers that are messing up.

You shouldn't doubt that it's Vista. My old computer teacher once talked to a microsoft exec, and he said that they're policy "Put it out on the market; worry about the bugs later."
Never buy a microsoft computer on their first or second release. If you can, try and wait at least 2 years after they release a computer. Most of their bugs should be worked out by then.
Then again, HP's, EMachines, and Compaqs are the worse computers out there on the market, so maybe the fact that you have an HP has something to do with that. I always go with Sony's. 90% of the Sony comps that I've used have never broken down or crashed.
do you have an hp printer. same thing happened to me with my 3 in one hp printer. The software installed this extra un-needed program, that seemed to run all the time in the background. my pc was so constipated.
if you open up that little window with ctrl alt delete, are there any programs open, that look like they shouldn't? (don't have any programs open when checking. makes it easier)
Hmmm I never heard of a "slimline" desktop. So I assumed it was a laptop, a market which is concerned more about size than anything.
I'm guessing it's a VIsta memory leak, or HP's terrible computers. I had an HP printer once. Even the software was horrible. The installer kept getting stuck and volleying between 2 bars. And if you left it on for more than a few hours, I had to shut off my computer by turning off the whole outlet extender. I doubt their computers are much better.
How much RAM do you have?
