I'm looking forward to this game very much. I was a Super Mario Sunshine fanatic and have seen clips of what this game will look like and I'm thrilled.
Super Mario Galaxy
-
-
Yeah, the game looks amazing both in terms of graphics and art style. And based on hands on previews it's apparently everything Sunshine was not I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
-
It looks great, I just hope that the giant universe we've seen in trailers is the "hub" and I hope we have some bigger planet levels, instead of JUST a bunch of tiny planets you hop around too (although that does look pretty fun)
And, just throwing it in, what a great opportunity to bring Tatanga back into the series (though I'm not even gonna hold my breathe on that one)
-
Heh, he might be an assist trophy in Brawl but I seriously doubt Tatanga would be brought back especially since Miyamato didn't have much to do with Super Mario Land.
-
Mario Land 2 was better anyway. That's why its antagonist is playable in Brawl.
Yeah, I'm pretty stoked for it. Nice to see that there's at least one or two games on Wii that look like the developers gave a damn as to how it looked.
-
Part of the big 3 that made me buy a Wii, the other two being Metroid Prime 3 and Smash Bros. I thought Sunshine was lacking for a Mario game but this definitely looks like it'll be a return to form for the franchise.
-
I'll be sure to get this when I get my Wii, This new addition to the Mario series seems to be interesting.
-
Sunshine wasn't bad - it just seemed to lack "Oomph!" since all you really did was hurl gallons of water everywhere.
-
Sunshine was a fun and solid title. Much better than a good half of games out there. People just had too big expectations, I guess.@edward:

It's probably just tiny planets with a few bit bigger ones here and there but nothing too huge. And I prefer it that way. The game should deliver and, yeah, it's one of the real reasons why to even buy a Wii.
-
i think sunshine was leaps and bounds better than mario 64.
Ill probably get wii once brawl, metroid and galaxy are all in stores.I'll buy all three together
-
Sunshine really didn't have enough of the jumping and…I dunno, fun? of Mario 64. The funnest parts were the weird dimensions with the doo-wop Mario Bros. theme playing.
it was a very fun game, but it didn't feel like a Mario title.
-
This game definitely looks good. I haven't been interested in Mario since Mario 64 which says a lot. This is one of the games on my list as soon as I buy a Wii.
-
i guess the reason i didn't enjoy mario 64 as much is that i brought it really late(after dk 64 which pwned it at the time)
Sunshine probably would have been better if it wasn't the only solo mario game for gamecube since it wasn't traditional(in a sense)
-
@Radical:
(after dk 64 which pwned it at the time)
Sorry, wrong again
-
@Cap'n:
Sorry, wrong again
I don't understand why people didn't like DK64, was it the rap? (lol)
-
It was more like waddling through 6 bland, yet excessively expansive worlds at the speed of a crippled dung beetle, collecting bananas, coconuts, whoop wings, zippididoos, etc. Oh, and you had to do it 5 times. Once for each Kong.
-
Sorry, wrong again
how? dk64 was pretty much a beefed up mario 64 with more features. Mario 64 had practically empty worlds with 3 enemies each while dk worlds had more variety;mini game and gameplay wise.Only worlds that I enjoyed was rainbow cruise and the clock tower.
also there were a bunch of things in mario that had no use in the game(slide kick? 3 hit combo?what for?) the caps was hardly used.Everything in dk was there for a reason
There's also the fact that dk was more of a challenge and every boss battle in mario 64 (excluding final bowser) was lame.
Of course the game came out 3 years after but i still think dk was far more enjoyable.I mean come on…how many times do you have to find 6 red coins before it gets repetitive
Plus it had a multiplayer
-
I loved Mario 64, but DK 64's gameplay didn't do anything for me at all. I'm not entirely sure what it was but I just couldn't really stand the game.
Anyways, I'm looking forwards to Mario Galaxy. First time a Mario game's really interested me over a lot of the weirder stuff I play in a long time.
-
DK 64 was fun, but it didn't do much that all the other platformers on the N64 did first. I'll take Mario 64 and Banjoe, and THEN maybe DK. I also have a grudge b/c the developers decided that instead of Dixie, we'd get Tiny, who not only steals her signature hair ability, but to add insult to injury she's Dixie's cousin. Great, we get a mention of her, but no actual her.
Anywho, while I still find myself playing Mario 64 and the Banjoe games from time to time, I've never been compelled to go and revisit DK 64.
-
Banjo kazooie?!
well I guess im the lone man in this one.I've been checking and I didn't know dk64 had such bad feedback from nintendo.oh well
anyway on topic im sorta getting the impression this game is going to be one huge world(like jak) instead of the traditional warp zones.Which would be awesome but unlikey
-
I think it will liekly have the different worlds. I think every Super Mario title has had 7 or 8 worlds in it, right?
-
I doubt the Wii is powerful enough to handle a single huge world so the adventure will probably be separated in many different solar systems. We saw we had a fire based galaxy, a water based one, another set in the sky, and a classical one in space.
-
sky and space sound good…I hope the graphics will be nice like in sunshine. Frankly, I loved the graphics and settings in that game.
-
The water effects in Sunshine look better than half of the games on the market.
Can't wait to see what Galaxy has to offer.
-

I really enjoyed Sunshine, but I definately agree that those other dimensional levels were by far the most fun parts. Running around on the spinning cubes was a blast! I hope they put a lot of those types of levels into Galaxy.
-
Galaxy is likely to be released this summer or early this fall I'm told…is that true?
-
Hah. It'd be amazed if it managed to be out in the summer. I could see it coming out anywhere from October to December unless it gets pushed back, though I'm sure we'll have a better idea after E3.
-
I'm actually hoping for more variety, and not just a bunch of themed mini-solar systems to jump around in.
Those look great, but some larger planets would be nice as well.
I'm curious if we'll see another Delfino Plaza or Peach's castle type hub. Maybe some kind of spaceship or space station? Or maybe we'll have one huge planet, and Prof. E. Gadd will send you to various mini-solar system levels. (I'd imagine he'd be a perfect fit for this title, and Nintendo has been using him alot)
It's hard to tell when this game is gonna come out. I'd love to see in by summer's end, but I'm not gonna bet on it. It's still planned for 2007, along with Metroid and Brawl, so I'd guess early holiday season.

New trailer
http://www.deletionquality.net/SMG__broll_FINAL.wmvI want this game!
-
Release date is confirmed for November 12th.
-
November, there's quite a few games coming in November now. Galaxy definately has priority for me though.
The gravity effects have me excited, and the bee suit looked like fun. (Yay, Mario is getting new suits!)
-
Now that! Is totally awesome looking game!
-
That Boo Suit has me hooked.
-
boorio = awesome
looks like a cool game
-
Bee Suit = Victory.
-
Very, very cool. The last quarter of this year is going to be amazing for Wii owners.
And because everyone else is doing it. BEE SUIT.
-
God, this game looks like it will be so much fun.
And it is so exciting and refreshing to see Mario use powerups again.
-
That's one of the things that made Sunshine so un-Mario, the severe lack of jumping around and using crazy power-ups to blow up brown mushrooms.
-
My burning desire for this game has reached new bounds.
-
I think I also saw a cursor on the screen, shooting things at enemies… for some reason I hope that isn't in a lot or has a huge role.
-
@Cap'n:
And it is so exciting and refreshing to see Mario use powerups again.
Agreed. I'm happy they finally went with a Boo powerup myself.
-
Too bad its only for the wii, it sounds like an awesome game, but the Wii doesn't "overall" have good games.
-
Go back to not reading One Piece ever again
-
Here here.
What did you expect? For Nintendo to put one of their best selling series on other systems?
-
Too bad its only for the wii, it sounds like an awesome game, but the Wii doesn't "overall" have good games.
What the fuck are you dippin' in?
And of course it's only for the Wii. It's fuckin' Mario.
-
Too bad its only for the wii, it sounds like an awesome game, but the Wii doesn't "overall" have good games.
C'mon, the last Mario platformer that wasn't on a Nintendo system was like Hotel Mario and I'm not even sure that that was even a platformer.
Edit:
Can't wait to see this battle in motion.
-
Remember, where there's SMOKE…. there's SMOKE
-
I love the sky effects. Seems like in certain levels, the higher up you go the less blue you see and the more spacey things get. That's a nice touch.

The picture is on Nintendo`s E3 site.
