In your opinion, who do you think has been the most toughest and hardest opponent for Luffy to fight? For me, it's come down to two people.
1.) Crocodile, because he was almost able to kill Luffy, not to mention beat him several times and it put him under great emotional stress.
2.) Spoilers Rob Lucci, because of how beaten down he was able to make Luffy and was very close to killing him and the rest of the crew. He seemed to know what he was doing when it came to fighting Luffy. spoilers end
Nami, she beats him all the time.
I think Arlong, he almsot killed him cuz Luffy got stuck. (except these two ya mentioned)

think Enel is the toughest enemy Luffy faced… ofc Luffy was immune to him so he had less problem with Enel then say Crocodile or even Blueno.

Aokiji is his one totally undefeated opponent.
I'd say Crocodile is probably more dangerous than Lucci because he's smarter. On the other hand, water (and all other moisture) is a pretty enormous weakness outside of Alabasta.
Also, let's remember that Usopp gave him quite a run for his money. He was able to take advantage of Luffy's sentimentality and lack of subtlety using his strategy, but eventually he didn't have the strength or stamina to make it work.
Aokiji. You should have said for the title "Which opponent that Luffy fought is the most Dangerous" Toughest is instantly going to be Aokiji…
1. Lucci: He pratically equaled Luffy both in strength and stamina. Add this to the fact that he had the abilities of Roukishi and Life Return.
2. Crocodile: Despite the water thing, Crocodile was tough as Luffy he had to fight him twice plus KO with a crazed move.
3. Arlong: People tend to talk shit about the fight of this guy, yet they should remember that if Luffy let Arlong bite him for a moment he could lose more than an arm.

Usopp. Other than Zoro, he was the only opponent who already knew him in and out. Despite how weak he was, he knew how to keep him off guard.

Ao Kiji seems invincible and has a pretty deadly ability
Enel is invincible, except to Luffy, and has an even deadlier ability than Kuzan
Crocodile was pretty strong, but wasn't that tough
Rob Lucci was probably the one who could withstand the most damage, and he's very strong and deadly.
But the one that seems to have been closest to killing Luffy is Buggy, he almost cut his head off there back in Loguetown.

Smoker. Luffy admitted even HE can't beat him.
Aokiji. Froze his entire body, and nearly killed him without actually fighting.
Crocodile. If Luffy hadn't figured out water being his weakness, he'd be pretty screwed.
Lucci. He's a freaking monster.
Enel was strong too, Luffy's the only one in the world who can beat him without the sea stone thingamajig.

Why? Well he would have died the first time if it wasn't for Nico Robin.
The second time he fought he only lived because INCREDIBLE luck,
and the third time was Luffy's fight.
Lucci was the longest fight and it was all just one fight that changed from insde a building to on a ship to back inside a building.
To me, Enel was easy for Luffy. If he did not throw Luffy over Maxim with that Golden Gloge then Luffy would have won right then and there.
All of this is not counting Aokiji and Smoker because they arenb't main bad guys.

Ao Kiji froze Luffy stiff, then walked away from the fight. Consequently, Luffy developed Gears to combat this. At this point in time, however, we don't know if that's enough. If Gear 2nd can take down Ao Kiji, then it may be fast enough to take down Smoker as well.
Being able to evade Aokiji and Smoker's attacks won't accomplish anything, since neither of them can be harmed by Luffy's physical attacks. It's impossible for Luffy to defeat a Logia user, aside from Enel, without finding some external weakness.
Crocodile, Enel (Even though Enel was weak against Luffy, Enel still fought well… Imagine if Luffy was not Rubber...), Lucci, Smoker, or Aokiji. Wait, now that I think about it... Foxy was hard too... I think he got lucky because of the mirror thing...

I agree with Lucci and Croc, but I do not agree with Eneru. I feel Eneru is definetly the most overrated villian in the series. To me, despite having power, his attitude makes him not so hard to defeat.

Yes, but he is totally convinced that he's invincible and infallible, which limits his tactics somewhat. Faced with someone actually capable of hurting him, he went into a total panic (which you can probably see a demonstration of in the face faults thread :-P).
Also, bounty means nothing.

smoker=Luffy said himself that he could not deafeat him.
Crocodile=almost killed him twice.
Enel=Only reason why luffy won was because he is a rubber man.
Aokoji=He beat luffy with like he was nothing

Usopp and luffy and sanji were fighting against satori I know sanji beat him but luffy and usopp were helping so it also count as luffy's battle.

We all know that Aokiji is his number 1, I mean, Aokiji is the only one Luffy lost against in the series…
Yeah, Aokiji beat Luffy. Toughest he actually won, Crocodile. People say Lucchi, but he actually managed to get back up soon after defeating him.
With Crocodile he was out for 3 whole days. Yes, Luffy slept after defeating Lucchi, but that was after being able to stand up clearly during being on the Merry and actually burning Merry. Luffy only managed to grab Cobra and Robin and run out of the tomb before he passed out for 3 days.
i think we should throw in eneru (enel in german) as well.
IMO he would´ve clearly defeated anyone but luffy. even lucci would have lost…

1.aokiji...noone else...he could kill luffy and aokiji didnt even fight really...hes a monster and his DF makes him to the thougest enemy so far(even under top 3 when the manga is finished..)
2.lucci...luffy couldn`t even walk after the fight and he was also already defeated...all his new gears he need to fight lucci and even than he was close to death
3.crocodil..was the first samu luffy has to fight against...he lost 2 times before defeating croc..but after the fight he saved two lifes....so luffy had some power still.....
(4)eneru....kay in just power he wasn`t really though...lost against a gomu.gomu-pistol(even if it was a golden) but we know a jet-pistol is much more powerful and lucci take hundrets of them...
but with his DF he would be too strong for every other villain cause this power is horrible though...so luffy could be lucky to be a rubberguy

Why does everyone think Aokiji is the most powerful thing ever just because he beat Luffy? Crocodile did the same exact thing when Luffy first fought him. When Aokiji's weakness is revealed, and used on him, what then?

He fought Lucci ONCE(TWICE counting the first encounter) and won. So in my book two (pretty much) deaths outweighs any almost defeat or even one death. Crocodile was the toughest and hardest.
Enel wasn't very hard for Luffy at all.
