Scanlation-Chapter 118 Cleaned

I was rereading One Piece and I think its a shame that we have such great scanlations now, but that alot of earlier volumes' scanlations suck. So I decided to rescanlate some of the earlier chapters for myself. But I thought I'd post one and see if anyone else out there wanted more. If this gets good feedback, I'll start posting the cleaner scanlations of Volume 14, 15, 16, and 22 (since those are the worst in my opinion).

But here you go, CH118, and please leave feedback so I'll know if people want more. This isn't HQ or anything but it's much better than what you've downloaded before for these chapters.

Yes, not only are the images sharper, The translation is a much better improvement. Especially since the original translation uses terms like "evil fruit" and "Elubabu". It's about time someone started doing this. Also, it turns out the original scanlation was zoomed in to the point of cutting off parts of the top and bottom of the page.

Also, when you redo the cover page, feel free to remove those two credited for editing and translation, since they are not involved in this rerelease.

I think many people don't care about scanlating these chapters due to three reasons:

They were long ago, and most people don't even bother with em now.
It has long since been covered in the anime.
Viz is almost to Alabasta themselves.

But thanks a lot for your hard work.

One Piece is always worth rereading, and there are new fans looking to catch up every day
The anime really sucks

what kind of thread does this deal with? in other words, what scanlations? for one piece chapters or something?

IMO, scanlations are good for filling gaps, but the official release is of, at least, servicable quality where it exists.

My only interest in scanlations for the volumes which are available is for the sake of comparison of translations. Stephen vs. Scanlation vs. Viz can be very interesting.

as far as i understood it crowtrobot hasnt used stephens translation in any released scanlation and did not intend to use it in any comeing.. he said he had to redo them since he used stephens in the ones he kept for personal use….

Yeah, there seems to be some sort of misunderstanding, as it sounds like he used his own translation for Volume 14, but used his personal Volume 15-17 scans with stephens translation, which he plans on replacing with his own for later public distribution.

Edit: After reading the Volume 14 he/she distributed, it seems pretty clear crotrobot is using his own translations for these chapters

So in light of this, keep up the excellent work.

My only suggestion is that you should translate the chapter and cover story titles.
