Who is Gol D. Rodger?

Judging by the talk between Shanks and Whitebeard and over the course of the series, there are a lot of pirates but there in deed seems to be a lack of quality in them. The shichibukai we've been fed a bit of information on all seem to be pirates who tried to complete a dream, yet came across an obstacle stopping them along the line.

So far 2/4 yonkou were already around before the era and it wouldn't suprise me if the final 2 were just like that. Shanks and WB already have values from a time that most don't seem to acknowledge anymore outside of Roger's death.

It's time for the no thought put in it theory of the day:

Gol D Roger went Kuro style, and didn't really die, so he's going to beat the sh*t out of the person who opens the door or chest to "One Piece".

Now, being serious again… Where did these Gol D. Roger or someone from his crew being Nico Robin's father come from? Next you will say that Zoro's father is Mihawk...

-Mentioned by Chopper's Mentor. - Luffys nakama Chopper
-Had a long red coat that Luffy sometimes has in various artworks by Oda. - Erm, Luffy has a hat :ninja:
-Smoker, Buggy and Shanks were present at his death. - Buggy and Smoker were at Logue town where Luffy was almost beheaded
-Earnt the title "Pirate King". - Wants to earn that title
-As FFA said… Wealth Fame Fortune... He had it all and of course One Piece. Which he told everyone to "go find". - Luffy already has earnt fame and fortune, can't say he's very wealthy but they had 200 m b :)

Both share the initial D, they are both idiotes as mentioned by the mermaid, the have the same personality, they don't fear death. Numerous peapole have mentioned that Luffy is a person to watch out for.(Like Smoker at Logue town)

Luffy's strong but he is not a person to fear the only time you need to fear him is when you hurt his nakama lol but I agree with every thing else on your list

This is how Stephen translated that line from ch431 p 24:

Garp? You mean… THE Garp?!
The one who chased down the Pirate King,
time after time, in the era of Gold Roger?!
The legendary marine?!!

At the time this was released there were plenty of discrepancies between translations where some said he cornered him once and others that he cornered him several times.

It is left up in the air whether Garp was the one who finally brought him in, but it does seem that the Vice Admiral was one or Roger's main opponents from the WG. Luffy's current equivalent might be Smoker or Coby.

I dont support the Robin is Rogers daughter, aside from the poneglyphs readings and the time frame nothing fits. She shows no traits that any of the D's shown. Robin was crying her eyes out when she thought she was going to die, any D. would of smiled, she isn't really hungry at all, she doesn't fall asleep out of no where, she isn't strangely strong, she is infact the complete opposite of Luffy and Luffy is kind of a mirror of Roger. Why would Rogers own daughter exhibit none of his traits what so ever?

(i dont support the theory either. i find it rather baseless and booring if it was true)

Moria. do you see how quickly the theories that doesnt deserve their own thread dies if there is noone that is engaged in the topic? that thread is really crappy if you want a lenghty discussion and speculations as when someone else posts a new more interesting theory yours is suddenly dead.

Easily, if you watch the anime till Luffy beats Enel on German tv, this happened like so so so long ago. Then don't follow the anime at all. Then you find this place. Start to watch the anime again, right at W7, after the Luffy - Usopp fight, I was really wtf. Then you follow the anime and see people talking in spoilers about wierd things so you start to read the manga as well. After that you read all the mangas in a hurry to catch up. You miss some things. I used to read 50-60 manga chapters per day :blink:. Right now rereading some parts.

Y'know, this is an interesting thread. I've always been a little bit curious about Gol D. Roger. Do you think it's possible that maybe Gol D. Roger was another son of Garp or perhaps Garp's father(Okay, that second one is less likely). Still, Oda will probably reveal something about him that will shock and amaze us all.

They might reavel that he is Garps uncle so that makes him luffy's great uncle.

If he is Garp's uncle, wouldn't that normally imply he'd be older then Garp? Garp looks old for his young age then and vice versa the PK looked young for his age. :/
