Summary:

There is this laptop. I used it to operate a scanner. Well, it's more than just a scanner, a HP officejet d155xi "all-in-one" to be accurate. The laptop had Windows reinstalled which meant a bye bye to all software. I can't use the laptop to operate the scanner anymore. But I have these few pictures which I would like to scan. So I tried to install all the drivers needed and I used a CD which came with the device to do this. I also tried to download all sort of stuff off the net. But the laptop still doesn't recognize the scanner for God knows why. I have tried everything –- and I am pissed. Yelling "ouendan!" doesn't seem to work in real life.

that or try to desinstall every driver, unplug your scanner, shutdown you laptop, power it on, wait for windows to load, plug the scanner, and do the driver installation when it's asked from there. i'm at full thottle, i don't have any other advise.

what's silly is that i'm pretty sure that the "HP all in one" are great in a sense that any random winXP can pilot them without particular drivers.

ah. something like this happened once to me. I accidentaly deleted something in my comp that made the scanner work (I never found out what it was) and the comp didn't recognize the scanner. When my comp died for some reason, I reinstalled all my old software that got deleted after it was fixed and the comp recognized the scanner. try installing all the basic software that is needed when first setting up the comp. maybe try a system restore. that's all i can say for now. sry I can't be of anymore help.

i have an hp all in one. all i had to do was plug it in and it promted me to do everything. it was pretty dummy proof.

but then again, i've got a desktop pc. and as well, i've heard HP all in ones tend to have software glitches. I had one, where it installed this software thingy i didn't even need, and it totally constipated my pc. I had to look up online how to fix it and get rid of this "unknown constipation" but now, whenever hp prompts me to update something, i tell it to screw off.

If it's a usb connection, you deleted your USB controller for the computer. Sorry. If it's 1394 (I doubt it), you deleted the firewire drivers.

So yeah, you'll need to go to your computer manufacturer's website and download the USB drivers. Simple as that.

Yesterday I decided to try it with a desktop. Still nothing. So it can't be the USB drivers. That said I also went through a lot of unplugging and unistalling but no. What I noticed is that fax works fine (yippie!) and so does printing (out of ink, tho) but both of these computers are pretending that scanner is not there. I'm probably missing something really obvious, or there's something wrong with the software or the machine itself. I'm inclined to think that I'm just dumb.

But thanks guys for the all advices. I will try again all of these but I think I will give up after that. For a now at least. Blah, it sucks because I can't update my fanart thread.

you can always take a digital picture for now. do you still have warrenty on that thing?

No, it's not. I originally got this from my dad. He used it for the work but he didn't need it anymore. So it's a few years old already.

I guess I could do that but digital pictures are just not the same. I want quality, or not that all. I'm just that type of guy, miss captain usopp :happy:.

no, I totally understand, but for the time being, at least you could show them. and then when you figure out your scanner, then you can replace them with better quality

my, my. i was too busy signing autographs so i couldn't respond to your question. the answer is simple: if you believe in what i say and give me a few buckets to show me how much you trust me, then YES you're gonna be a newsex symbol which girls really like nowadays. also, i can tell you the truth about the meaning of life. but i'm afraid you will have to follow a particular seminary in order to be able to accept the truth. and this wll cost a lot. but don't worry, throw your life away to me, i will transform you into a whole new messiah.

I took the pictures in natural light. That's the best type of light and for some reason I thought that would ensure the best result but, instead, perhaps I should had settled for light of a lamp.

But not that have this thread… any good recommendation for free web space?
