Mugen!

I've searched and was surprised there wasn't a thread dedicated to MUGEN.

For those who don't know, MUGEN is a highly customizable Internet Fighting game where you make it any way you want. As long as the character and stages exist.

Say you want Mario to fight Ryu from Street Fighter, you can make it happen. If you want to put Homer Simpson in a fighting game, then you can make it happen. As long as you can find it and download it and put it in your MUGEN game.

Now, I'll provide some basic links for those who want to get started.

Best MUGEN site ever. Click Database for links to many MANY characters and stages.

For tutorials on how to know how to work it. Go to YouTube, there's tons of Tutorials there. I'm not going to say which is the best, but you'll figure it out.

Ah good ol Mugen. I don't play that much really, except One piece grand line bout considering I am invovled in that game.

Pretty fun games. I don't add too many characters though. Still a fun engine, but could be a lot better.

Haven't played my Mugen in a minute. Loved how cheap Evil Ken and God Bison were. I heard that someone developed a way to play this on the PS3 and Xbox 360, hope it's true.

Yes and no.

I know you can play mugen on the psp, not sure about the other two though.

Sounds cool. I didn't know that I could add any character to fight with other character of a different game, either add backgrounds and such. I learned to put soundtracks though, as I changed some stage songs of One Piece Grand Line Mugen XD

Ah, I love MUGEN. I'm a HUGE fan of 2-D Fighters, and MUGEN's a hobby of mine. I've got a huge collection, and I love setting stage/music combos, setting an arcade order to feel like an actual game, etc.

Not a fan of the dramawhoring whiners of the MUGEN community, though. Still dunno how a fighting game engine can attract so many little wusses…

I downloaded it, and now I have a roster of Kung Fu Man (a classic), Hulk, Popeye, and Captain Caveman.

I could leave this as is and it'd be a perfect fighting game.

The first time I saw Mugen was a video on youtube of Homer Simpson and an alien from the Aliens series fighting a queen alien. I loved it.

My laptop would overheat if I played a program as big as Mugen, so I'll stick to watching videos on youtube. But damn, is it fun to watch them. My favorite was this match that had Homer Simpson, Duck Dodgers, Fred Flintstone, and Leela from Futurama.

I know the guy who made the Kamek character, amongt several other things. Neo-Kamek's his handle, I believe.

Open the mugen.cfg file in note/wordpad. Scroll down to the section, then go to this…

MUGEN… I remember playing it a while ago... I remember having Sephiroth, Cloud, Mostly Anime characters, Metroid, the Master Hand, and Broly from DBZ... I would play it again, but now my computer is a piece of sh*t and is unable to play with more then 2 characters...

Theres a bunch of tutorials at the main MUGEN cabals and such, but there's an assload of coding that goes into making a character. It's no walk in the park, lemme tell ya.

Out of curiosity, what kinda sprites do you do? Full-size fighting, small megaman-ish types, or what?

Full-sized. Mainly I took bases from sites and turned them into characters, but now I'm interested in actually making my own sprites from scratch and it actually not being a single pose.

Mugen is cool and all. But Omega Tom Hanks is satan, and it sucks he can't be defeated. My personal favorite character to use Dark Aculard.

Really, I don't like uber characters. I at least deleted three characters because they were so powerful that made the others look pathetic, and the worse of all it was when they were picked by the computer >.<

When you get good enough, you begin to liek the challenge some Uber characters bring. Unless their AI patterns border on ridiculous (i.e. Evil Ken and Shin kazuma's comboing, which is just plain silly).

There should be a Giant Luffy, a normal Street Fighter sized Luffy, and a couple crappy Sanji's not worth downloading, and a B.E.T.A Luffy at Naruto M.U.G.E.N.
Check Mugen Guild and Google, cause I am too lazy to find them.

Heh thanks. Oh and is there any site with tons of characters to DL? I've got the EVE screen pack with around 700+ slots and I only have…40 or so characters. I've tried Mugen Infantry but it says its in maintance mode...
