Yes, after years of platforming, racing, and a game based on Puyo Pop, Sega finally decides to throw Sonic into the RPG realm. Well, at least it's in the hands of someone who can make a good RPG.

I'm interested, but I hope we'll be seeing them use some of the lesser used characters in the Sonic roster like Chaotix and Fang instead of them making new characters.
I think Sonic Team has the right idea here. They seem to fail at making good Sonic games anymore, so they should just let other companies do it.
Bioware made the first Knights of the Old Republic game, which was, along with Psychonauts, the only reason I bought an X-box, so I'll be looking forward to seeing more on this game.

I have low expectations for this game, mainly because I don't think RPG is Sonic's territory but hey he has done almost everything else this decade…
Ehh… Mario made great RPGs, and that was something I've never even considered before they came out...
I might try this one out...
I can honestly say I'm curious about this. But the question, are they going to have the characters act out certain roles (mage, healer, stat booster, etc.), or are we gonna have something that doesn't look like an RPG at all?
after playing superstar saga, I wwanted a sonic game in that fashion.
I like the sonic characters, just hated the non handheld games after adventure 2.
Heroes was ok imo, but shadow and the newest one were horrible.
I liked sonic battle as well, albeit a little repetitive and simplistic.
I'll keep an eye on this.
Well, cool. I've never played any of BioWare's games, but apparently they make good RPGs, so that makes me more confident that this game might not suck. Though I won't get my hopes up.
At first I thought this was a joke: Bioware rocks, Sonic sucks. But who knows, perhaps Bioware is rocking enough to triumph Sonic's sucking. And it's on DS which alone makes this interesting.
Let's see, every single Sonic game made in the last six or seven years sucks, except for the one on the DS. Now we have Sonic back on the DS, with one of the biggest names in western RPGs. I'm very intrigued by this game.
I don't think all of them were terrible. I'm loving Secret Rings and the Advanced and Rush games were good. Truth be told I only think Shadow was terrible (not played "2006"). While Heroes and the Adventures series weren't perfect they were enjoyable in my eyes.
Yea, saying EVERY sonic game in the past few years was awful is a huge exaggeration.
Like Carc said, Secret Rings was great, and I found heroes to be enjoyable. Shadow the Hedgehog was a failed experiment(I remember the poll on sega's stie asking "which sonic character you would like to see have their own game?". I answered Knuckles. >_>) Adventures was meh.
Handhelds were all excellent though. Don't see how you can complain about those.
Riders…...was actually fun 4 player. XD
I wouldn't let shadow ruin sonic completely.
and this being on the DS makes me more confident it will be a reaction type RPG like superstar saga.
Loving this since sonic characters can be given more of a variety of attacks than mario and luigi, and I personally like sonic better.
Character wise I've always been a bigger fan of Knuckles and the Chaotix so I'm hoping they'll be playable and/or have a decent role in the game.
I'm still not sure why there's all this praise for Secret Rings… I kept trying to play it, thinking it would magically get better, but it never did and Heroes was even worse than that. I did enjoy the first Adventure game, though parts of the second one annoyed me quite a bit. I still think Shadow should've died at the end of Adventure 2 and never came back.
I did like Sonic Rush, though.
I can't wait for this game! Last good story from a Sonic game was on the Dreamcast for God's sake. This looks promising.
